High priority reviews This can probably only be answered by a staffmember, but I would like to know what the deal with High priority reviews is. After searching around for just a short time, I found several sites that promise to give an official review soon. Some of the express reviews from these sites go back to 2005: - magicblondes.com - cutiesgalore.com - screamingo.com - girlslovetoys.com These are just a few. I'm not criticizing, just curious what kind of timeframe is used. I'm interested in joining sites from this genre and look forward to a big review from the team. | |

Hi Colm, Our review statuses (ASAP, high priority, low priority, etc) do have some general meaning, but don't give any clear timeframe on when reviews are assigned/completed. The high priority status means that the site has reached certain parameters (# outside reviews, express score, etc). The problem with the system is assigned reviews are pretty much all filled by submissions. In fact, we get more submissions from site owners than we're able to handle. The ASAP status is the only one that we try to assign quickly. Everything will change very soon. A completely new review format is in production and we'll be able to take back control of which sites to review. The current status system will be out the window. A new "user nomination" system will be part of the new system. Sites that rank higher will get new updated reviews (fresh reviews, no follow-ups). Reviews will be far more detailed. Reality met the road. ;) We decided to bundle other backend updates which slowed everything down. Too many parts depend on other parts and it gets real messy. Looking closer to a June launch unfortunately. Good idea about running some ideas with you guys. I may just let you guys preview some of the templates and get your feedback. Damn this thread and damn you witty!! lol jk Making real good progress. My target for June was close, but off by about a month. Mid-July is the new launch date for this update. If my math is right, this puts us realistically at late December. ;) JK Since you guys have been real patient, here's a detailed rundown of what to expect: Completely New Review Format We went back to the drawing board and decided the current system was simply not working. Express reviews were dinky and useless. Official reviews were redundant and drained resources. Follow-up reviews were like disconnected patches. In addition, we had 3-4 month lead time from the scheduling of a review to the release date. Important sites that needed review updates or fresh reviews couldn't get the attention they needed. We have sites in the 90's that don't belong there or haven't been reviewed for years. The system as I saw it was breaking down and failing. The solution: -KISS (Keep it simple stupid). Traditional format, one reviewer per review. -No more express, official, or follow-ups. Old reviews will remain, but eventually will be phased out completely. -When a site needs a new review, the next reviewer will write a FRESH review and old review will no longer count but still be accessible. No more patchy review updates!! -Sites with a score of 85 or higher will get a guaranteed new review no more than every 12 months. EXTRA attention will be place toward top ranking sites, period. -Reviews will be more detailed, more time spent on the site, more detailed site specs, in-depth pros/cons, etc. -New nomination feature, allowing users to nominate the sites they'd like to see reviewed. When a site reaches a certain # of nominations, it gets flagged for review. -Fast turn-around time. Averaging less than 1 week for high priority sites, and 2 weeks for all others. -At least 5 FULL FRESH reviews launched per day. -Complete re-design of the review page and site facts. Much cleaner and more attractive presentation. No new site facts added yet, but we will be reconstructing our site facts soon after this update. -New Site Fact error reports page. Anyone will be able to report an error to the site facts, view all the reports, and view our reply to the report. Other updates you won't see: Our webmaster panel is getting a completely revamp inside and out. This is where webmasters do everything from submit new sites, request reviews, request site fact updates, submit/manage member passes, open support tickets, manage their listings, their profile, etc. This is what has held us up the most. It also was in the most need of an overhaul. With the new review format, it needed to be done. Our admin panel is also getting a lot of needed updates to make the management of our site more efficient. This is also something you guys won't notice, but it'll help prepare us better for new expansion and keep the troops working hard. Thanks for everyone's patience. Making these updates to such a beast is sometimes more difficult than starting from scratch. We used to make major changes within weeks or months. But sometimes you can't just twist off an old light bulb and replace it with a new one. You have to make sure there's always light coming through to prevent total darkness. Yeah, 4 reviewers per site was our signature in the beginning. This was when our goal at the time was only covering the "top 100" or so porn sites rather than the 1000's of today. Now unfortunately this format is our downfall and the cause to the major issues we face. I'll also miss having the "average" score from 4 sets of eyes, but updated reviews (among other benefits) is what makes a solid review site. Our reviewers have 5 years experience under their belt and with the ability now to spend more time per review, the reviews will be better overall. As we get closer, I'll post a sample template of the page and get your opinions. Since our competition might be watching, it's best to keep it under wraps until it's safe. Dont worry we will not tell them! I think it sounds good. There are so many sites that have no information at all thus far, so increasing the speed of getting reviews will be nice. Sounds like it will be a nice Christmas present for us. Wow these sound like great changes and I totally agree with the one reviewer per review however it might be worth keeping the multiple reviewers for like the top few sites as these are the ones new customers will be interested in. | |

I'll miss the Siskel & Ebert & Roper & Callahan-like various perspectives from the current panel set-up - but frankly, the reviews were few and far-between, in my experience, where your reviewers differed all that much, so the timeliness factor will definitely be well-served by allowing your reviewers to cover more ground - and the decision to take price out of the equation has proven to be a good one, in my opinion, because prices are all over the map these days. There are sites, such as Masuimi Max's IAmTrouble.com, that seem to revamp their price structure once a week to see what works. There are a whole lot of sites, especially the reality porn sites, that have specials all over the place with wildly varying prices - to nail down a definite price on many sites is getting more difficult - and as my disappointed reaction to Bang Bros proves to me - getting a great deal is only satisfying if you actually enjoy the site once you're in there. | |

That's what the PU reviews are for: to give us an idea of whether we will like the site or not. But the real test is once you pays your money and get into the site. Even after reading the reviews, and looking at the site preview, you can still be disappointed for various reasons. But what the hey, I'm trying to be strong enough to survive in spite of life's little problems. | |

While it is true that you can not really know if you will like it until you are there, it is nice to at least have an idea. Also, just because one person does not like a site does not mean that another will not. We are all different. But the amount of videos, types, updates, style of content are all factual items that anyone can find use for. The main part of TBP I look at is the facts page. I have never actually read one of their reviews. After all, an hour or two simply is not enough time to get a good handle on the site. Plus most sites have tours anyway that will give an idea about what is there, just not how much and how easy will it download. It really only takes one person to say there are no zips or that the site no longer updates. Also, we are building up a nice review database here. So it really is not necessary for 4 of them to review the same site that 20 of us have. We have painted a pretty good picture of the major sites. I would like for them to be able to give insight into some of the more obscure sites (read: non-reviewed). I am sure many of you feel the same as me, which is at least a little wary of joining completely unreviewed sites. It is always nice to have seen that someone has been there first, at least when it come to spending hard earn money anyway. And this is exactly why the PU guys do not post their address freely, they do not want disgruntle PU'ers forming a union and storming the PU Fort. We all know how target dates are. They are only for offering the worker a guideline as to when they should stop procrastinating and when they need to begin bullshitting the boss. When someone has a year to complete a project there are several stages that must be completed. There is 6 months of "well that is not for a year yet, I need to finish beating Bill's Solitaire record. After 6 months there is an addition month of "I am starting that project first thing in the morning!" Then there is 3 months of planning. There is a month of ordering materials or outside help. Then there is a week vacation after which it will only take 3 weeks to put everything together. After the vacation there is 3 weeks of blowing smoke up your boss's ass about how well things are going. With one week to go you work 22 hours a day trying to complete 9 months of work. Of course this never works. Thus, you start easing the idea to your boss that he should offer an extension. When you get the 3 month extension you do not worry about it for the first month. Then you begin blaming the lack of progress on other people and/or companies. Finally after 14 months you begin working on the project again and realize that the original plan was no good. So another month is spent planning everything out correctly, remember those consultants you hired, well they sure came in handy in planning this thing out for you! Then a month is spend putting everything together and another for testing. Finally your year project has been finished after 17 months at which time you find out that Microsoft Vista is coming out and your project will not work at all on Vista and instantly another year long project is thrown at you. So as you can see it is necessary to add at least 50% additional time to the deadline on this project. Since this is a porn review site it is obviously necessary to add an addition 50% to the total time because there are porn breaks and he needs to keep his downloads going. Bottom line: It will probably be a little while yet, and does Rick actually have a "boss"? Damn you witty, I was hoping we would launch everything tomorrow and nobody would remember my target dates. ;) We've been working overtime for the past week (myself and the programmer). Everything is looking good, we've been testing all week on our virtual test environment and fixing things like mad. What you'll see tomorrow won't be a dramatic difference. You'll see some design improvements on the TBP review pages and that's about it until the new reviews go live. We can't technically write the new reviews until the system goes in place, so new reviews (using the new format) will go live about 7-10 days after tomorrow. However, I'm really excited about the new reviews and I think everyone will love the format. I mentioned some of updates in an earlier post (in this thread), but here are some additional details you'll get from the new reviews: -Download Speed Test (MB/Sec) -Download Manager Test -Avg. File Sizes (for high quality content) -Streaming Player Details -Log-In Info -Plus much more! You won't have to wait much longer and after this update, you'll see future updates roll out much faster. Most of this update was internal preparation for the future.
