Off topic (a bit): Facebook

Fellow PUs - just wandering: How many here are on Facebook?? (Rhetoric question, sorry).
And is it primarily the younger generation?

Of course it's MUCH different from PU - with name, photo and all.
I'm not - and friends and family keep bugging: come on, get on Facebook.
I spend a lot of time at PU besides the porn-search (more hours here), so....Facebook got to mean a lot of time at the pc for that, too. (And of course no porn there).
And do I really bother..

Any good and/or bad experience with FB???

I've never been a Facebook member, or even visited the site.

But I am a PU member. And I proudly display my "name, photo and all".

I consider myself a porno superhero, in the tradition of Batman and Superman (some people think Batman is not a superhero because he doesn't have any super powers). I fight for the rights of fellow PU citizens to enjoy a quality porno experience.

I did have a look a while back to see what all the fuss was about it but I found its navigation terrible and didn't really see why so many people are hooked to it, I joined but after 15-20mins looking around I decided it was not for me and left and haven't been back since. I muched prefer myspace as I'm more of a music fan. Same goes for twitter, I just don't see the appeal really of that either, seems pointless to me. I'm a bit of an armchair conspiracy theorist (those armchairs are out to get us, I swear!) and therefore deliberately keep a low profile online with my real details.

Like you, I'm often pressed on the issue - but I'm somewhat heartened by the fact that a) most folk I know of my age are on it, and that b) a colleague in her 20s isn't - it makes me think my absence there is more just because I'm an antisocial bastard, rather than an antisocial old bastard.

Yes, Sir Denner, I am indeed on facebook; and I'm there for the same reasons you've pointed out > being bugged by family and friends....hence, it being almost my only means of communication with them.

Facebook to this genre is liken to a newbe with a home-spun Broswer going up against Microsoft's Explorer.
Facebook is king. Facebook has no peers. For quality bonding and holding a grip on family and friend's ties, its the ultimate tool.
It's a household word; and draws-in untold numbers from around the globe.

With all due respect for PU's popularity, we're not only out of their league, we don't even fare as a farm-club.

Please don't think this is a put-down, 'cause, Buddie, I wouldn't trade a single Porn-User for a thousand Facebooks.

I'd suggest, though, that you let those who want you to be on facebook with them, to think seriously about it. Even if you register and join.
AND NOT TO WORRY.... I can assure you it won't make a dent in your interest and participation here with us AT PORN USERS. Edited on Jan 30, 2011, 08:24am

I joined Facebook under an alter-ego identify (what goods the internet if you can't have many?) so that I could see pics some porn babes were putting up. These days, Twitter is the preferred delivery system for such material - all those Myspace and Facebook porn babe pages are left to rot.

Not only am I on it, I've been there for about 7-8 years now. Signed up when it was only for college students (at select colleges), and looked a whole lot cleaner than it does now. I barely use it anymore, I just leave it up in case people want to contact me.

No and I don't plan one ever being on facebook. I have no interest in opening a facebook account and posting info that once posted will be there until the end of time. Not toom mention that I'm already on 2 other forums and that's enough internet chat that I want to do. Long live the Brown Coats.

My daughter talked me into it and I lasted all of one whole day. Too many relatives and friends wanting replies, it overwhelmed me to such an extent that I dropped it like a hot potato. I like things more leisurely and less confusing.

No. No to Twitter. No to Facebook. No to Myspace. Given that I am slightly paranoid (or realistic) about inavasion of privacy and information about you being used in the wrong way, I am passing on all that stuff.

Anyway, I have seen enough comments about how you have to give then certain personal information before you are allowed to join, and enough comments about how they are using the information, to give it a miss.

Not that I'm interested anyway. There is only a limited amount of time I want to spend online. After that I become a sad bastard. So I post here and on a few other sites, but I am now at a personal maximum.

On other forums I stick to commenting on other subjects. If I want to communicate with people on a personal level, I either talk to them personally, or pick up the phone.

I'm on it with an alter-ego for friends and family - but they could not find me unless I invited them first since I do a good job on the alter-ego bit. I don't give a real BD or where I live.

It's another way to stay in touch - easy to do, quick, etc. post photos or see photos of friends and family.

If they (Big Brother) want to find you, regardless of what forums, or use of the internet you do, they'll find you, so one more isn't going to make a damn bit of difference.

I'd say go ahead and sign up and check it once a week. You can get e-mail notices when someone has dropped something on your wall if you want. Or don't - doesn't matter. But there is no harm and it gets your friends and family off your back.

As far as who uses it, well I've seen the youth, the young, the middle age and the old use it. It has crossed generations and includes a lot of businesses also. It is pretty main stream as far as I'm concerned. If it ain't grits, it must be a Yankee.

If you're going to lay her head over the pool table and fuck her throat, get your fucking hand off her throat!

Never been a member. I prefer belonging to forums that deal in topics that interest me, like this one. Warning Will Robinson

10000% agreed. If the government really cared enough to want to get information about me or set me up in some way, I really doubt Facebook is where they'd go to do it.

I'm also a member of facebook, although I only login about once a month... I'm not one who understands the endless annoying anecdotes and status updates, why must we know that you are going out to walk the dog, or really love Dr. Pepper?

I don't think privacy there is any more of a concern than it is anywhere else on the internet. You can sign up with just your email address, and are not required to give any other information except your name and b-day(which could be fake).

I don't see how they will be a profitable enterprise without using more targeted ads like google does with gmail and search, but this is nothing really new. I'm not a big fan of this type of privacy "violation", but this is pretty much the state of the internet these days. Bunny Lebowski: I'll suck your cock for a thousand dollars.
Brandt: Ah hahahahaha! Wonderful woman. We're all, we're all very fond of her. Very free-spirited.

Reading all of the responses sort of confirms what I was thinking in the back of my mind. A lot of us like our anonymity and most of hardcore PU types tend to be older so we don't gravitate towards social media so much. Besides, there are only so many hours in the day and what's more important - reading what someone you barely know had to eat for dinner last night or tending to your porn stash? I keep meaning to getting around and signing up for Facebook mostly because I have a lot of relatives who live on the other side of the country but apparently I don't like them enough to actually getting around to doing it.
