Hmm, interesting facts...who the hell is Maria Takagi? I had to look up Houston to refresh my memory and Hilary Scott, well, good for her! I think she's a hottie with some crazy scenes under her garter belt, so it's good to hear she's making something off it.

Also, always good to remember a lot of 'mainstream' media and telecommunications corporations make quite a bit off of adult business, especially providers in motels and hotels for, uh, 'weary' travelers who think beyond the room service options. A lot of service providers are probably acting as essentially porn traffickers--though they would never admit to it--because they are providing the lines and connections to pass around all the digital dirtiness. I've heard AOL owed a lot of its early business to pervy subscribers rather than the more family friendly image it was marketed as (though porn could in some cases be family friendly...).

I wonder how much of hard drive manufacturers' products go towards simply storing porn, or all the other products that make consumers think, "It's nice, but how will it make my porn look?"

And finally, those countries with porn bans: . Now I know of one good reason to maintain a trade embargo on Cuba--it's heartlessly cruel government doesn't like porn. Of course, neither do most of the governing bodies in this country... I'll also make sure and add the rest of those countries to my do-not-travel (for a second time) list. I don't think the economy is to blame for all the stats above. If the economy were booming right now there would still be a decline in DVD and On Demand sales because of the improved ability of computers to download, store and display high quality porn video.

Fascinating statistics.

Very interesting that more women than men admit to a porn addiction.

I think the way it goes is that women are more likely to "struggle with porn addiction" while men are more likely to just buy more porn.

I suspect you are correct.

They are more likely to percieve it as a problem.

You're so right. I don't feel much of a need to struggle. I go along with the flow. If it's pleasant why struggle, unless you use all of your household money on porn.

I wouldn't pay a dime to watch Jenna Jameson. I had to suffer from her shrill voice and fake boobs when I subscribed, very temporarily, to the Playboy channel.

But once again, I am sure I'm in the minority so don't take offense. No one who is not attractive to a large number of people would be that successful.

I won't speak for her voice but I never understood the appeal of Jenna Jameson. She was atractive in the very beginning but no more so than many other actresses. Her movies weren't any better than most of the others and in my opinion much worse. The plastic surgery and tattoos have seriously altered her appearance to the point where I can't watch her anymore.

The only part that I have a hard time with is the one about the highest paid adult performers because the data is guaranted to be false. It implies that both Jenna and Tera make 30$ million as porn actresses when it's their companies that make that money. I have an even bigger problem with Houston who hasn't made a movie in years. I'd love to know how she can be tagged as a millionaire. Long live the Brown Coats.

Jenna Jameson is the example I always use when talking about porn stars who ruined their looks with surgery and tattoos. I thought she was adorable when she started out. Now I can't stand looking at her. And, while I might also be in the minority on this, I still think her success has had more to do with hype than actual talent and looks. Hype is what gave us Windows over Mac OS and VHS over Beta. Seems that if you polish a turd enough, someone will buy it. Sarcasm is a body's natural defense against stupidity.

Yeah, but a turd is still a turd no matter how much you polish it, and it will always have some to it.

I think it's more of a good combination of hype, marketing, and sound business decisions in pretty much all the cases you mentioned. Jameson's longevity is probably due to her unwillingness to give up along with all the right moves when it came to signing deals and contracts. I don't think I've watched more than a few minutes of her work, and I don't intend to watch any more, but I bet none of my favorite stars really have whatever it takes or even the will to become the next Jenna or have a career as long as hers. This pisses me off on the one hand but on the other I don't think I want to see any of my favorite stars reach her level of success--I despise the mainstream and I want them to stay out of it.

But like you mentioned why do we always get fucked over when we had a better choice?! Did we really just believe all the empty hype and join in with the rest of the herd? I think it has a lot to do with the era she became popular, if you look at a lot of material from that time that "look" must have been quite popular. Also, Howard Stern said she was hot, so I'm sure many-many mindless dumbasses just agreed... Bunny Lebowski: I'll suck your cock for a thousand dollars.
Brandt: Ah hahahahaha! Wonderful woman. We're all, we're all very fond of her. Very free-spirited.

Interesting facts but as with all things stated as 'facts' and done plenty of research projects myself in college including surveys, polls, etc etc, I always have to be the asshole that wants to know where the 'facts' are coming from. While many of these facts may hold some weight, I do not know where the actual statements are truly coming from and how they got them. Many fast fact things like this are originated from polls, surveys, and research that are clearly open to interperation and/or 'skewed' into looking like facts that are needed to hold weight for the 'fact sheet'.

However, I did see the title of the topic "FUN FACTS" So, I am taking the results with a grain of salt but it was defintely a fun read and pretty interesting. Thanks for the post. Sexted From My iPad
