I Have A Question Regarding A Rule.

The rule is pass sharing, now I know this is probably one of the strictest rules to be enforced here, but hear me out for a second.

Ok, so lets say I joined a porn site, and that site was so fucking terrible that I decided to cancel, but I still have time left on the site, about 3 weeks left but I didn't want to go back to said site, would it be against the rules to give my time to another user?

All I want to do is share a legit paid for site with someone else instead of letting my money go completely down the tubes, so I was wondering is a legit kind of pass share such as this ok or is it still a no no?

Just curious. :)

I would assume that the site issuing the pass would strongly discourage sharing or selling a password. Because there is no way they could control that type of activity except to try to cancel the membership if the site found out. They could not trust in an honor system where someone who buys the membership will not try to use the membership, along with selling or giving it away to others.

The PU site has no control over the site memberships that you purchase. So I would assume the PU site has no rules about what you do with your membership. But the PU site, I would assume, would in general be against sharing or giving a site membership away to some other person to use. That's just my impression.

It's been awhile since I've read the terms of membership for a site, but if memory serves they forbid password sharing.

And would PU allow it? Don't think so.

Besides, even if it were allowed, who'd get it? Say it was me. I'd have to work very fast to change the username and password just to keep it.

Otherwise, it would just wind up being shared by the password cheats and then the account would be disabled and the website that had to do that might find out that it had been shared at PU and that wouldn't exactly bode well. I wanted something new, so I left England for New England.

Well I wouldn't post it publicly, I would actually just choose someone at random and send an email with the user pass, so it would only be from me to them.

I just don't wanna break any strict rules, and I was under the assumption that the rules were mainly talking about pass sharers who crack sites and such, but since this is a legit paid for membership I had to ask, and since I am not going to use it what would be the harm to said site, they already got my money and I hated their site, so I should be able to pass the rest of my time on to someone else who may appreciate it more, I know that isn't how things work though. :P

But yeah, I wouldn't post the pass publicly, just choose a random member and bestow them with the misery I once suffered at the hand of said site, or what if it's a site that no longer updates and I gathered all I had to get, I should be able to pass that shit around like hotcakes.... at least in my opinion, but anywho, that is all I wanted to know really.

I was about to email the user pass to someone then I looked up at the rule as I was emailing and was like awww shit, so I didn't and made this thread to see if it was ok to do. Edited on Jan 17, 2009, 03:56pm (NMC2008: grammar correction)

I would strongly recommend that you not share a password. When you join a website then you more or less sign a contract with that website. It may not always be obvious, but read the fine print and you will see a mention on the consequence of sharing your password.

Let's say that for argument sake there is no penalty.
Why would you allow anyone to acces a website under your name. Don't forget that for all intense and purposes you are still the owner of that membership. What if the person with whom you share that password is somehow able to access your credit information as well. Long live the Brown Coats.

Consider this.

You have a small website and I join it. I download the whole thing in 2 days and then immediately give the membership to a good friend. Also, assume that I never log in again. This is what you are saying correct?

basically what happens is I download everything, which I guess is fine. But, my friend gets to download your site too, and you see not a single dime for it. In fact it costs you money because you had to pay bandwidth usage fees to your provider.

But what if my friend gives the password to several of his friends, and so on. "For example, badandy400 has taken it upon himself to become the one man Library of Congress for porn with a collection that surely will be in Guinness Book of World Records some day." ~Toadsith~

So there is no doubt ...
PornUsers has zero tolerance for using *any* of our resources (including privately messaging a fellow member) for password sharing.

Also, if you read the fine print of most pay site membership agreements, you'll find they're non-transferable. Former PornUsers Senior Administrator

I know, I was only curious. :)

I will say that this is becoming retarded though, the quality of pornsites are on a rapid decline while prices raise to the high heavens, it's pissing me off a bit, but the site I joined is useless, with it's download speeds of 100kb and their slow loading webpages, I said fuck it and cancelled.

In a perfect world I would be able to get a refund but alas this is not, so this is the 2nd site I wasted my money on, and FYI the sites I am talking about are the horrible horrible Porn.com and Adult Doorway, they are by far the worst sites I have ever joined.

I have a review brewing up for the both of those shitballs.

But yeah, I know there is 0 tolerance on pass sharing, but I thought I would ask anyway, just to be crystal clear on the subject.

Oh, yes. They record IP addresses, so when they don't match, the sites will shut you out anyway. I wanted something new, so I left England for New England.

Some thing to consider as well is whether websites flag the IP address of suspected fraudulent customers and then advise companies like CCbill, Epoch and other providers that this customer is not to be trusted. Long live the Brown Coats.

I don't condone password sharing for the simple notions that 1) You never know if you're card info, email, etc. could somehow be exposed or exploited by the person using your identity; 2) I don't know how blackballing works, if it even exists, with companies or billing processors but I don't really want to find out if some knucklehead pitches a fit about a site using my id; 3) It goes back to price and quality. Porn is cheap so it's not like you're working the old Russian black market trying to survive. If you pass around your membership, even for sites you don't like, you're diluting revenue for the owner who can't use that money, if they want to, to make their site better. 4) It starts you down the slippery slope. Once you start doing it on bad sites it becomes easier to justify sharing on the good sites. That in turn filters back to the old music pirating problems. You take it for free assuming your favorite artists will be there or that the quality will continue. There ain't no such thing as a free lunch and what exists today may not necessarily be there tomorrow when it comes to selection and quality.

Actually, back when I was a member of Porn.com a year ago I would alternate between my PC and my friend's PC and they didn't do anything, I did it for Video Box as well, nothing happened, 2 different IPs, so I dunno how many IPs are the limit but I know that 2 seem to be ok as I am sure pornsites know people have more than 1 PC these days.
