What percentage of your bandwidth use is porn related?

Back when I used to use Microsoft’s Flight Simulator a lot, I’d joke to friends that my computer was a $3,000 porno magazine that let me pretend I was a pilot. Now it’s pretty much just a porno magazine. If my ISP looked at my monthly usage (which I’m sure they can do) I suspect that they’d find that at least 80% of the bandwidth I use in a month is porn related. At any given time I have at least one membership on the go, and when the membership is new I tend to download like mad.

So at 80% I’m surely sick and twisted by the standards of the general public (who deny porn use but still use lots of it), but am I sick and twisted by the standards of a PU member? In real terms, an average month’s download of porn would be between 200 and 250GB, though for the last couple of months (since I learned that my ‘cap’ isn’t enforced yet) I’ve been averaging maybe 400-500GB.

Should I seek treatment?

Most of my bandwith is used to download porn but that's not that unusual since I don't download any other kind of movies, TV shows, I rarely buy songs and I haven't bought an electronic book yet. If we were talking about how many sites do I visit daily that aren't porn then the answer would probably be 75% non-porn and 25% porn. Long live the Brown Coats.

This actually describes me too. I do download some stuff from ITunes and PureTracks, but not much. Like you, porn sites might make up 25% of the sites I visit, but porn accounts for most of the downloading I do.

More of my bandwidth goes to porn than any other thing. Yet I actually get a little tired of porn sometimes, and I go to other sites for news, information, music, humor, and assorted motley bits of miscellany.

But that quickly enough gets boring. I probably devote a good 85-90% of my home computing time to tits, ass, and the fun that can be had with them. I wanted something new, so I left England for New England.

I usually spend about 30% of my computer time at PU/TBP, 40% at porn pay sites, and the remaining 30% are usually divided up between studying the latest news headlines, leaving comments about some of the stories and playing computer games.

I haven't downloaded "like crazy" in ages because I find it increasingly hard to find something that really turns me on.

There seems to be a basic formula to most porn and once you've seen a thousand nudes/sex scenes, you've seen them all. Nevertheless I keep on browsing and hoping to find, one of these days, that gem of a site that combines mature women and sexy lingerie. I don't think I would ever get tired of that!

It could very well be my age that makes me more demanding and jaded but, just as an example, I had five sites going simultaneously until two days ago, couldn't find anything exciting on most days and decided to delete their bookmarks even though my subscription wasn't up yet. I did keep one!

I just got resentful signing in day after day and finding nothing new or exciting so I wrote them off mentally as a loss.

Actually the new reality, come to think of it, is that now I spend less time at porn pay sites than I mentioned above, and more at PU, and my bandwidth usage for the download of porn must have dropped dramatically as well. Edited on Jun 16, 2011, 12:28pm

Jiminy Cricket rearadmiral, that seems like a lot (not that I'm judging). I might get up in the 200 GB range, but I have been refusing to by an additional external drive for the last year or so, and like messmer I think I have gotten more particular. I was trying to clean out one of my drives the other night and couldn't believe how much crap I had kept on there - fake tits, why would I keep that!? Do you keep all of what you download do you delete a lot of it?
The last time I looked at my bandwidth usage it was 100 GB or so per month, but I'd guess my porn usage is half or so of that as since we ditched cable we watch pretty much all of our TV aside from sports on Hulu and usually watch movies on Netflix or Amazon. Bunny Lebowski: I'll suck your cock for a thousand dollars.
Brandt: Ah hahahahaha! Wonderful woman. We're all, we're all very fond of her. Very free-spirited.

Total monthly bandwidth, I would say around 95%. I do not use as much as I used to, probably down to around 2 TB per month. "For example, badandy400 has taken it upon himself to become the one man Library of Congress for porn with a collection that surely will be in Guinness Book of World Records some day." ~Toadsith~

It is a lot, I admit that, but that isn't usual for me. I think part of why I've been downloading so much is that I'll now download the highest resolution available, which obviously means more bandwidth and more storage space.

I can't bring myself to delete anything. I still have porn that I downloaded 10 years ago and I rarely, if ever, watch. But I can't bring myself to delete it. But that isn't as bad as it might seem since storage has shrunk in physical size and price. I have a small fleet of Western Digital and Seagate drives and I just add a new one as space requires. I also make sure to have a good system for keeping track of it all.
