I read a short article that said Jean Claude Van Damme had been asked by Stallone about being in the movie, and that Van Damme had turned Stallone down because Stallone was only offering Van Damme money and the part/character was not interesting to Van Damme. That's what Van Damme was supposed to have said.

I also saw a clip on youtube, where Stallone said he was considering many different actors for the movie, including Forest Whitaker and Ben Kingsley.

Ben Kingsley would seem a stretch, unless you've seen Sexy Beast. The character he played in that movie was a hard-boiled criminal, and I've never seen any other movie where he came across as a psychotic killer. Not a great movie, but interesting, a real noir-type film that should have gotten wider exposure.

The Expendables, on the other hand, is supposed to be a fun ride, and is definitely not a noir-type film.

Edit01: In Lucky Number Slevin, Ben Kingsley plays a character who is supposed to be a hard-boiled criminal. But the movie is much more light-hearted than Sexy Beast, in my opinion. And even though Kingsley is supposed to be cruel and vicious and everything bad, the effect is more that he's an actor who is supposed to be a vicious criminal, and he doesn't really do anything to show how vicious he is, in Lucky Number Slevin.

In Sexy Beast, Kingsley really comes across as menacing. You think this is one bastard you want to totally avoid. Edited on Aug 16, 2010, 01:12am

graymane1777, you've developed a very literate style of writing. I'm impressed.

I love the bit where you write: "Maybe she's thinkin' ...Where's George Clooney when you reallly need him?"

How many porn starlets do you suppose are thinking this while they are performing?

Sevrin and hodayathink, many thanks for the tips about getting used to a notebook and about Win XP versus Win 7. There was a free option to switch between Win XP and Win 7 shortly before Win 7 came out, and shortly after Win 7 came out. But that free option is no longer available, as far as I can tell. If a PC comes loaded with Win 7, and you want to install Win XP, you have to buy a copy of Win XP. And Microsoft doesn't sell its OS cheap, not to a civilian like myself. Microsoft sells to a PC manufacturer at a low price, but to the retail crowd, the price is expensive.

So I will plug away on the notebook I bought, with Win 7.

But the suggestion of hooking the notebook up to a regular monitor and keyboard seems like a great one. I've asked other people whether their notebook keyboard bothers them, and they almost always say the keyboard is fine. But I sure like the keyboard on my older desktop much better. So I will buy a new keyboard, and plug that into my notebook. I already bought a wireless mouse for my notebook, because I was going crazy trying to use the touchpad mouse on the notebook.

I really don't understand how college students can get used to a notebook. I suppose they don't have any choice, but I find a desktop so much easier to use than a notebook: keyboard, mouse, and monitor are all better.

Thanks again for the tip on the keyboard and monitor. I really should have figured that out for myself. The computer rays must have frozen my brainwaves. Edited on Aug 15, 2010, 06:56am

My brain has a hard time trying to accept the idea of Mickey Rourke as a wise man. Are you sure it was Mickey Rourke and not somebody who looks like him? Scratch that. I don't know of anybody that looks like Mickey Rourke except Mickey Rourke.

Not even Nicholas Cage.

Thanks for the kind words. Maybe we should email Khan suggesting a new badge for decorum. Or a second badge for those PU members who are still in our hearts, even if they disappeared into the great beyond. Cybertoad and Toadsith would fit into the second category.

I hope there may be good porn parodies out there, but the only ones I've seen had terrible acting, horrible jokes, and worthless sex. I only saw a few, and stopped watching them after seeing the ones I did see.

This won't be much comfort, but my DSL account maxes out at 160 KB/s download speed.

I'm too cheap to pay for a faster connection.

But if you are into porn or online movies, 100 GB/month is a horrible limitation. File sizes today are huge compared to a few years ago.

Maybe you can explain to your ISP that you are watching movies, without mentioning porn, and see if the clerk/whoever you talk/write to, will give a human response. Internet files today are very large, and 100 GB per month is an overly restrictive limit. Edited on Aug 14, 2010, 05:07pm

True. My post was not a reply to your post, but to Sevrin's post, which stated in part: "Given the choice between paying more for cellular service or having our largest banks collapse, I'll happily get screwed on cell service."

I thought his comment was a mis-interpretation of what you did post.

I've had Win 7 for a few months now, and never experienced the continuous lock up problem you are describing.

I don't like Win 7 as much as I liked Win XP. Maybe it's because my Win 7 is on a notebook PC, and it's my first notebook PC. But Win XP was just easier for me to use. I wish I had gotten it on my new notebook, but I didn't have a choice of operating system. And I don't want to pay hundreds of dollars to buy a copy of Win XP to install it on my notebook, not when the notebook only cost $500.

You buy the components of the $500 notebook separately (hardware and software), and the $500 computer will probably cost thousands of dollars. That's my impression.

My understanding is that all of our largest banks would have gone bankrupt if the US government hadn't given them billions and billions of dollars in "free" taxpayer money.

So I don't know why you are saying there is a choice between paying more for cellular service or having the largest banks collapse.

A very large part of the billions of dollars of bailout money to the banks and brokerage companies went directly into the pockets of the executives in the form of bonus money. Bonus money to executives who put their companies in the danger of financial bankruptcy? And people (and stockholders) let the executives get away with it.

Who says cartoons can't make money?

Toy Story 3 hits $920 million at the global box office, becoming the number one box office champ worldwide for cartoons.

Toy Story 3 made $400 million domestically.

So cartoons can make money, if enough people pay to see them.

That's not counting TV/Cable sales or DVD sales, or merchandising sales, which should also bring in huge amounts of cash.

In Los Angeles, you go into the Department of Motor Vehicles (to get your license renewed or whatever), they have official signs in English, Spanish, Korean, and a bunch of other languages. You go into Social Security (which is federal), or a state office, and they usually have a printed notice stating that anyone needing an interpreter will be furnished one (to do whatever business they need to do at that office). Los Angeles has a large Spanish-speaking population, but they also have largish concentrations of people who speak Chinese, Korean, Russian, almost anything you can think of. And these residents/citizens/whatever are catered to by furnishing translators who speak their language, paid for by the county, state, federal government, etc.
You go into a low-price fast food restaurant, like McDonalds, Burger King, the guy who takes your order might be barely able to speak English.
English is a second language for many of the people who live in Los Angeles. That's been true for many years.

I suppose one reason for buying a DVD instead of joining an Internet site is to leave less of a trail. Depends on how paranoid you are, or if you could have serious problems if a hacker/whatever got a trail of your online porn activity.

Please tell some of your attractive female co-workers that I would be happy to exchange my spam for theirs at any time. I need a little something to brighten up my life. They can skip the blue pill and genital enhancement messages, and go for the pretty pictures, if they can find any. I haven't really gone into my spam trying to find any pretty pictures, but maybe your attractive female co-workers could send me some pictures of themselves.
Would this offer be considered spam?

From the CNET official review of DownloadStudio:

http://download.cnet.com/DownloadStudio/...2071_4-10266250.html

DownloadStudio is an attractively designed application with a number of thoughtful touches that both intermediate and advanced users will appreciate. Unfortunately, when it came to actually downloading files, we ran into some problems....

We were able to download individual files, including a 140MB .mov file and several smaller files, successfully. But when we tried to download two large (greater than 300MB) files simultaneously, we received the dreaded Not Responding parenthetical. In further trials, the application slowed or hung on multiple occasions, including during multiple-file downloads.

DownloadStudio looks and feels like a top-notch application, but, sadly, it didn't live up to our expectations. There's a short 15-day trial, though, for users to take this downloader for a test drive on their own to see if their results are better. As it is, we suggest power downloaders wait for the issues to be resolved before investing in DownloadStudio.

.........................................................

Sevrin, apparently you've been using DownloadStudio for a while. Have you experienced any download problems with this program?

DownloadStudio costs money. $24.95 is the purchase price. I've always used free download managers. Is DownloadStudio worth the extra money? How good is the audio/video capture feature? I normally use DownThemAll or FreeDownloadManager, but I might spend the extra cash if DownloadStudio had a great audio/video capture, that makes a really nice copy from web sites. And if the program itself was easy to use and had a nice feature where you can que up downloads to do them automatically.

The same thing happens to me. I sometimes get email with a heading that is my own email address, sent to me. When I see that email, I know I didn't send it to myself, so I know it's some kind of spam. I also sometimes get a notice that email with my address was unable to be delivered, that I never sent. The population of France is approximately 65 million (from the Internet).
So French speaking people number somewhat above that figure, I suppose.
So, why do commercial movie DVDs in the United States have both an English and a French warning that it is illegal to copy a DVD, and you can get a fine of $250,000 plus a 5-year prison term for illegally copying a DVD?
65 million people is a lot, but the number of Spanish speaking people is many times that figure (Spanish, or some variation, is used in Spain and most of Central and South America and Mexico and elsewhere. So why put a French warning on DVDs sold in the USA? Putting it in Spanish makes a lot more sense. Or even putting it in Chinese, since you have a billion people living in mainland China (but I don't know how many speak the main dialect in China, or are able to read the main written dialect, or if there is a difference in the written dialects of China). But to put a written version of a DVD warning in French makes little sense. How many people in the USA are able to read and understand French?
Well, you have French-speaking people in Canada. But is that enough reason to put a DVD warning in French? I guess so, but what about Mexico, Central America, and South America? Are we going to be sending missionaries to those regions to teach them French, so they can read the DVD warning page?

That is one reason the Internet is so important, so we can spread a common language so that everyone knows the danger of illegally copying a DVD.

End of rambling rant.

When I was growing up, back in the dark ages, you could clearly tell where a person was raised from the way he spoke. I grew up in California. A person from the deep South spoke with a strong southern accent, a person from the Northeast spoke with a Northern accent, a person from New York spoke with a garbled New Yawk sound. Today, you listen to teenagers speak, it sounds like they all grew up in the San Fernando valley (Valley speak). Maybe that's a slight exaggeration, because pure Valley speak peaked years ago, but the strong regional accents from the 1950s and 1960s and earlier are no longer with us.
Radio, movies, TV etc. have changed the way we talk.
I assume the Internet is just the latest force on cultural influence, and a powerful one, just like radio, movies, and TV were in their day.

From Wikipedia:

United States

In the United States, the X-rating originally referred to a non-trademarked rating that indicated a film contained content that was not suitable for minors such as extreme violence or explicit sex and thus was for adults only.

When the MPAA film rating system began on November 1, 1968 in the U.S., the X-rating was given to a film by the MPAA if submitted to them or, due to its non-trademarked status, it could be self-applied to a film by a distributor who knew beforehand that their film contained content unsuitable for minors. In the late 1960s to mid 1980s, several mainstream films were released with an X-rating such as Midnight Cowboy, A Clockwork Orange, Fritz the Cat and Last Tango in Paris.

Because the X-rating was not trademarked, anybody could apply it to their films, including pornographers, which many began to do in the 1970s. As pornography began to become chic and more legally tolerated, pornographers placed an X-rating on their films to emphasize the adult nature of them. Some even started using multiple X's (i.e. XX, XXX, etc.) to give the impression that their film contained more graphic sexual content than the simple X-rating. In some cases, the X ratings were applied by reviewers or film scholars, e.g. William Rotsler, who wrote "The XXX-rating means hard-core, the XX-rating is for simulation, and an X-rating is for comparatively cool films." [1]Nothing beyond the simple X-rating has ever been officially recognized by the MPAA.

Because of the heavy use of the X-rating by pornographers, it became associated largely with pornographic films and thus non-pornographic films given an X-rating would have fewer theaters willing to book them and fewer avenues for advertising. This led to a number of films being released unrated sometimes with a warning that the film contained content for adults only. In response, the MPAA eventually agreed in 1990 to a new NC-17 rating that would be trademarked and could only be applied by the MPAA itself.

I think I've got the blah blues. I look at the latest photoset for Lorena B, "Milika", and my erotic response is zero. This is a model with a very pretty to lovely face, nice body, the photos, I think are nice and crisp, clear shots, nice poses, nice facial expression on the model, good skin tone. And I might as well be looking at a door post for all the sexual excitement I feel.

This is a very pretty girl, and I think the photoset is very well done. But it doesn't do anything for me.

Maybe I'm blind, or just not a connoisseur of art or erotic photos, but I didn't notice a blurry ass. It's a nice ass, a lovely ass, it just doesn't do anything for me.

There are some models I do like, at least some of their photosets. Like the photoset of Anita C, "Presenting Anita C". That girl has a great face, fantastic body, the colors in the photos are lovely, including skin tone. You look at the photos in this set and you could drool over them.

That's just me. Maybe someone else might think the "Presenting Anita C" photoset is just blah or boring. Because it is a softcore set. But I don't think it gets any better than this photoset. Lovely model presented in a great way.

You often need a thick skin to survive as a model or actor. Dustin Hoffman and Gene Hackman were students at Pasadena Playhouse (in California) together. They both dropped out, and did not graduate, because they were at the bottom of their class. Hackman said one of the worst memories of being a struggling actor, was working as a doorman in New York City. He recalled having seen former Marine officers pass him by when opening the door for them, of which one had said "Hackman, you're a sorry son of a bitch."

Hackman and Hoffman went on to win Academy Awards and both are now considered among the finest actors of their generation.

Laurence Fishburne is a major star, and has been for many years. You would think, if he wanted to get his daughter into the movie business, it would be simple and easy for him to do. Not necessarily to make her a star, but at least to get her small parts in movies. Will Smith, an even bigger star, got his son Jaden, age 12, into movies where Will was a star or producer. And the son Jaden is already a star at age 12: The Karate Kid, The Day the Earth Stood Still, Pursuit of Happyness. The kid must have some talent, but the relation to Will Smith certainly didn't hurt.

How do porn actresses get along with their family because of their being in porn? Obviously it depends on the actress, and the family members, but attitude is a large part of it. Laurence Fishburne's daughter is in a porn film, and her family will have to deal with it.

Laurence Fishburne's Daughter: 'Being In An Adult Film Is Not A Big Deal To Me'

Source: Access Hollywood Fri Aug 06, 2010, 11:24 am EDT

Laurence Fishburne's daughter Montana is speaking out about her decision to appear in an upcoming adult film.

"Being in an adult film is not a big deal to me," Montana, 18, told People. "It's something I always wanted to do. I have always been comfortable in my body and with my sexuality… I am not in porn to get into acting. I am in porn because I wanted to be in porn."

The daughter of the "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" star told the mag she shot the video without telling her family.

"I had already filmed it by the time they knew, so I didn't give them a chance to talk me out of it… so I could pursue what I want to do without being constrained by them," she explained.

Montana hopes her dad will one day be proud of her decision.

"I hear through relatives that he's upset but I haven't talked to him directly for him to tell me his feelings," she said. "I hope it's not hurting him. It wasn't done to hurt him… But I think it will take time and talking through the issues. Eventually, I hope he will be proud of me."

When contacted by the mag, a rep for the actor declined to comment.

Maybe they're trying to send an invitation to the PU members here? It depends on whether the "animal" in front of Yogi is male or female. Or it could be that they think all perverts are bi, so it doesn't matter what the sex of the animal in front of Yogi really is.

I prefer to think of this site as a community that is interested in porn. A mental picture of a bunch of guys jerking off (in a circle?) doesn't do it for me. Edited on Aug 06, 2010, 09:51am

Growing up, there was some decoder ring offered for drinking ovaltine, I think. But my family didn't drink ovaltine. Is it too late for me to get my decoder ring now? I don't remember what the show was, maybe some TV science fiction program that I would think was totally lame if I saw an episode today.

I think that story went out in the dark ages. New love stories have all kinds of variations: the couple splits and find new, separate partners. The couple stays together and one of the partners finds a lover on the side. One lover kills the other, and gets on with her/his life. One partner realizes there's more to life than this joyless union, and searches for meaning and sex. There's just too many variations to list. But falling in love and living happily ever after only happens sometimes, and that's only when there is no sequel.

I've been in a cranky mood lately. I think I've only given out 2 negative trust ratings since I joined, which was almost 2 years ago. Maybe I should change all my trust ratings to negative, and try starting a flame war. Who should we shoot down first? Any suggestions?

Porn is a business, and the idea is to make as much money as possible. That means you don't waste time and resources on trying to make the "best" possible product, but the cheapest product that will sell the most. And since gonzo hardcore is cheap to produce and sells to a wide audience, that is what is made.

There is also a large market for quality softcore, and there are many sites that serve that market: both megasites and smaller sites that hope to grow and be profitable.

But the market for quality hardcore seems to be much smaller than the market for quality softcore. And I would guess the reason is that if hardcore crap sells, why bother to spend the extra time and effort and money trying to produce quality hardcore when the real profit comes from the lower quality product?

I'm not in the porn business, and I'm not a business expert, but that is my guess on why there is so much hardcore crap out there.

But, there is also the fact that what you or I might consider crap, could be considered exciting or stimulating to someone else. Personal tastes do vary widely. Edited on Aug 02, 2010, 08:01am

I think Redbox is a great bargain. You can rent a DVD for $1 (plus tax) per day, and it's convenient and easy to use.

Redbox just started offering blu ray DVDs to rent, for $1.50 per day.

So I was trying to make a joke that the price increase for a blu ray versus a regular DVD was expensive.

My humor is often not appreciated, I'm afraid.

Redbox is a very nice alternative to Blockbuster, which is much more expensive. But there are also netflix and cable and whatever, for seeing movies.

Redbox officially has begun offering $1.50-a-night rentals of Blu-ray Discs.

I just recently started using Redbox, and thought their $1 rental fee was a great deal. Now they are raising the price? WTF? Good thing I don't have a blu-ray player, or I would boycott them and ask my buddies at PU to boycott them as well. $1.50 to rent a blu-ray DVD?

I found renting from Redbox to be easy and inexpensive. So far it's been a good experience.

A fire fighter is working on the engine outside the station when he notices a little girl next door in a little red wagon with little ladders hung off of the side and a garden hose tightly coiled in the middle.
The girl is wearing a firefighter's helmet and has the wagon tied to a dog and a cat. The fire fighter walks over to take a closer look. "That sure is a nice fire truck," the fire fighter says, with admiration.

"Thanks," the little girl says. The fire fighter looks a little closer and notices the girl has tied the wagon to the dog's collar and to the cat's testicles.

"Little partner," the fire fighter says, "I don't want to tell you how to run your fire truck, but if you were to tie that rope around the cat's collar, I think you could go faster." The little girl says, "You're probably right, but then I wouldn't have a siren.

Sean Connery was interviewed by Michael Parkinson, and bragged that despite his 72 years of age, he could still have sex three times a night. Kylie Minogue, who was also a guest, looked intrigued. After the show, Kyle said, "Sean, if I am not being too forward, I'd love to have sex with an older man. Let's go back to my place."

So they go back to her place and have great sex. Afterwards, Sean says, "If you think that was good, let me sleep for half an hour, and we can have even better sex. But while I'm sleeping, hold my balls in your left hand and my dick in your right hand." Kylie looks a bit perplexed, but says, "Okay". He sleeps for half an hour, awakens, and they have even better sex. Then Sean says, "Kylie, that was wonderful. But if you let me sleep for an hour, we can have the best sex yet. But again, hold my balls in your left hand, and my Dick in your right hand." Kylie is now used to the routine and complies. The results are mind blowing.

Once it's all over, and the cigarettes are lit, Kylie asks "Sean, tell me, does my holding your balls in my left hand and your dick in my right stimulate you while you're sleeping?" Sean replies, "No, but the last time I slept with a slut from Melbourne, she stole my wallet."

Thanks for the explanation of why Paypal doesn't allow it to be used to buy porn. My only direct experience with that was a few years ago, when I bought some Playboy and Penthouse magazine back issues (from the 1970s) on ebay. I could not use Paypal to pay for the purchases, because the sellers told me that Paypal could not be used because old issues of Playboy and Penthouse were considered porn.

I thought it was foolish of Paypal to turn away business. But I can understand that if porn has a high percentage of chargebacks, it makes business sense to avoid porn. I personally doubt that old magazine copies of Playboy and Penthouse are porn, but I realize there are people who do consider that as porn.

So I mailed a check for payment, instead of using Paypal. Paypal would have been easier, but it was not available. End of story. Edited on Jul 28, 2010, 11:56pm

Cap'n.

Not based on any experience with the potential problem, but I believe it's extremely doubtful that Paypal would take any action at all against the purchaser's Paypal account. Paypal is in business to make money, and it is not going to alienate a large number of "innocent" account holders because Paypal is taking action against a specific account holder because that account holder supposedly violated the Paypal terms of usage.

I believe it's stupid for Paypal to refuse business because a purchase somehow involves porn (or what Paypal considers to be porn). But for Paypal to penalize a large number of customers without a solid reason, would be beyond its regular stupidity.

One problem for me with the movie Inception is that the rules in the dream state change whenever the characters want to change the rules. You can't do this because the rules say you can't, then it turns out you can do it after all. This happens again and again. And we are supposed to sit back and feel awe and wonder that the characters are so brilliant and inventive and can change the rules, without realizing the rules are thrown out the window whenever the plot needs new rules. It's not just that these are the experts who are exploring uncharted territory: they are creating new rules and new territory whenever they need to.
And how many men can an extraction team of what, 6 people, take on in firefights in extreme conditions?
How about 200? Or 400? Why not 4 billion, since our heroes (one woman among them) can dodge bullets, assassins, explosions, an avalanche, and whatever else might be a danger.
Movies like James Bond are unrealistic, but this goes way beyond James Bond, because these people are not only action-adventure stars, but they are creating their own worlds as they go along.
I like science fiction, but the internal logic of this movie is nonsense.

Matrix, a movie exploring a future world, at least had internal logic. You set up a world with rules, and you follow those rules. Inception does not have internal logic: the rules keep changing. Where is the suspense in the audience supposed to come from, when the heroes can pull a new rabbit out of the hat whenever they have to?

But most people seem to ignore the illogic in Inception. And I don't know why. Edited on Jul 25, 2010, 06:18pm

What's the worst that can happen?
Maybe I'm missing something here. But what about a beating? Getting stabbed with a knife? Getting shot with a gun?
There's still a lot of intolerance and hate out in the real world.
A mild tongue lashing if the object of your male attraction is only mildly homophobic?

Edit01: But maybe in this fantasy world we're talking about, some sado-masochism or necrophilia would be the perfect antidote to a boring day. Edited on Jul 23, 2010, 05:00pm
