I suppose, but this is why I would think most folks setup a spam email account just for online orders, because it never seems like unsubscribing from things works well anywhere (and for a while I was convinced unsubscribing from one just led to your address being sent to someone else to use as there would be an odd jump in unknown spam). Perhaps I'm just paranoid.
Doesn't every site do this? I get stupid emails from many sites I've joined, and unsubscribing from them has generally been pointless. Isn't this the point of having a spam filter?
The sites were reviewed by two different TBP reviewers, so I would say it is natural that they would give it different scores - they are also 8 months apart, perhaps there were changes to the site.
As far as why it is scored so highly, I thought it was a decent site when I was a member a while ago, the place has many sites so it is not surprising some of them are no longer updating - there are lots of networks where this is the case Royal Cash, Deisel, DDF, 21st...
I actually didn't mind Hustler's new setup without DRM that much. I think they do fill a niche (porn with stories, however half-assed) that sites like Videobox and AmericanVice don't seem to focus on. Although Hustler certainly needs to improve video quality.
If you didn't like Hustler's setup, you'll hate Private. It has significantly worse navigation than Hustler does, and the video quality is equal or perhaps slightly better than what Hustler offers.

Since I keep getting responses to my comment, I figured I'd go ahead and write a review. Hopefully this answers everybody's questions.
-Good size archive, almost 500 downloadable DVDs, 1160 zipped photosets, 200 downloadable full magazines.
-Partial magazine archive, most of which is downloadable in PDF format which is excellent quality. I'm not really sure "quantify" good quality for a pdf, but they appear to be digital prints of the magazines, not scans.
-Decent download speeds, I almost maxed out my connection - 1.4 MB/sec in Eastern USA
-Downloadable zips of photosets and magazines
-Video quality is acceptable 640x480 1500 kbps on high
-No DRM
-Photo quality okay, 1200x800 for the newer stuff 600x400 for the older stuff
-Good price with TBP discount
Cons:
-Navigation is downright aweful. If the navagation was similar to what is shown in the preview the site would be much better. I ended up keeping a window of the preview open so I could figure out which videos had which stars in them.
-Have a search function, but it is basically worthless unless you know the title name you are looking for
-Even when you find the DVD you are looking for, the thumbnail previews of the scenes are so small you can't tell who is in it. They don't even list who stars in the DVD or scene when you get to the DVD page.
-Download managers do not work
-Content not exclusive, many Private DVDs are available on sites like Videobox.
-It just takes too much time to sort through it all, I gave up and moved on
Bottom Line:
I think this site is the perfect example of a site that could be great with some major fixes to navigation and setup. Based on the amount of Pros I listed, you may think my score is far too low, but sites like this just piss me off. They certainly have some great content, and if you have the time you can find it - but why have the preview area show reasonably good navigation and then when you join the site it is terrible? I kept thinking there must be something I'm missing, like you have to click somewhere to go back to a "home page" or something. I can't stand sites that use this type of "bait and switch" tactics. Navigation, especially with a site this large, is pretty much THE MOST important thing.
Based on the stuff I found, if they fixed the navigation issues, added much larger thumbnails and scene previews, this site certainly could be excellent.
Even if they say they fix the navigation problems (see the Webmaster's reply to my comment) I would be hesitant to join again. Thus, it would be hard for me to recommend to anyone unless they have boatloads of free time.
Sorry if my Bottom Line sounded more like a rant, but content providers need to learn not to mislead customers.
the quality of the PDFs is excellent, you can zoom in - read the writing easily, very crisp. Definitely not scans. I'd say about 80% or so of the downloadable magazines are available in PDF, however they only have 40-60 or so of each magazine series (Private, Pirate, Triple X, Sex) and they have a few special editions. This is not their older material, the oldest magazine in each series was:
Sex 36
Triple X 45
Pirate 71
Private 180
Hope that helps, I'd wait to join until they make the improvements the Private Webmaster spoke of in his comment, it could get much better with just some navigation tweeks.
Pat, I'll try to write a more thorough review later in the week if I have time. The catalog of downloadable dvds is about 470 titles, so the size of the site is pretty decent. The "High" movies are 640x480 1500 kbps typcially, wmv only.
Like I said, my main problem is navagation and inability to use download managers, I'm sure they have some great scenes - but they are pretty much impossible to find unless you know the name of the dvd you are looking for (can't search by star of films)
In response to Rome, the download speeds were excellent whenever I logged in (1.4 MB/sec), however I was unable to get any download managers to work.
Didn't feel like writing a full review, just wanted to note that this site is very disappointing. Though they do not have DRM anymore, and the ability to download a good portion of their magazine archive in pdf format is pretty interesting; the navigation is terrible (looking at the preview would lead you to believe the navigation is pretty good - but the navigation of the member area is very different and significantly worse). Also all their content is not available (yet?). I would not recommend joining this site, especially since a lot of their content is available elsewhere - videobox for example; unless you really want to download the magazine archive, which I guess might be worth it as the TBP price is pretty good.
I think I might have used jettis before, but I don't recall ever having seen the other two, and it just seemed weird to me that the billing was listed at 3 different locations - I've never seen that before.
It bills trough epgbill, however the actually transactions are processed by another company and for some reason a third company - jettis - sends the confirmation. They might be reputable, but I had never heard of any of them before...

-Crazy false advertising, I saw very few of the girls shown on the home page in the site

-No pictures except screen caps of videos, although it would appear from the front page that there are many pictures
-Video quality is mediocre to poor (1500 kbps typical)

I thought this site sounded sort of interesting, however it proved to be pretty crappy and very misleading both in price and content. I strongly discourage anyone from joining this site. I tried to come up with some other pros, but I must admit I couldn't really think of any.

If you join outright the price is $30, if you join as a trial (which is totally worthless by the way - gives you access to partial samples of the 4 most recent scenes) and upgrade they charge you $40. Nowhere on the site does it say this, when you click the "upgrade" button it imediatly processes the transaction at that price. Billing companies don't appear to be very reputable. I strongly discourage membership.
I'd probably go with hodya's sentiments over mine, as he was certainly a more recent member, and I'm sure things change fast. Although I probably wont be joining here again until the limit is gone or stated as being much higher (or weekly), as I tend to only download on the weekends, so the limit was a particular nuisance for me.
When I was last a member there it was quite annoying when enforced (which I found to be quite regularly). From what others have said it seems as though it might not be there for returning members, which I was one but didn't sign up through one of their email offers. This was nine months ago though, so things may have changed - certainly seems from comments as it is still quite random as far as enforcement goes. It may be that they have different material on different servers or something and don't track between them well.

-Lack of variety, even though it is a network serving several niches, all of the content has the same feel
-Too many ads, all over the damn place

This site used to be one of my favorites years ago, and everytime I join I am less and less impressed with it. I read my review from before and am surprised I scored it so high, perhaps I was just in a good mood. Regardless, I don't think I will be giving them another chance.
The site does some stuff well, navigation is pretty good, download speeds were excellent (I maxed my connection at 1.4 MB/s). Their is some good material, and I enjoy the concept of some sites.
I am just unsure as to why some of these sites even exist - if it has less than 10 updates and hasn't had a new one in years can't you just merge the content somewhere? It just seems like an advertising gimmick.
There is still some good material, particularly the older stuff. But, it seems as though they have become far to focussed on the glam porn star look, even in their euro sites (Mike's Apartment and Sex Parties). For a supposed "reality/amateur" site, it just doesn't seem to fit anymore. For those that are fans of the typical late 90's-style porn star, this site might still be for you, but it is no longer for me. I grant you that this opinion is subjective, but they have definitely moved away from what I liked about the site. Also, it seems as though they get more and more focussed on asses over time. I like to see the entire woman, not 2 minutes of ass shots.
On top of these somewhat subjective complaints, they have a relatively firm limit of 10GB now, although I never came within 500 MB of that limit I was cut off frequently. I don't really consider myself a heavy downloader by any means, I tend to go through the screencaps to see if it is a scene I actually want. If you are going to impose a download limit, you should take note of your file sizes, and let users know - a 10GB limit with files in excess of 1GB is just irritating.
Overall, I think this site still has some decent older material, maybe worth joining once to get it. If you are into their older material, and unless you are totally obsessed with ass (not necessarily anal sex, just ass) I don't think you will be pleased with the direction of the site and I would recommend looking elsewhere, there are plenty of decent networks out there, although you may have to pay more.
There is a link at the bottom that says "no thanks skip this offer", or at least it shows up for me. You are cancelling directly through the support link on the RK website right?
Yeah, also if you are going to have a DL limit on the site, it might be useful to list the damn file size. So many times I started to download a file and then was like, oh wait that's too large, I should download the smaller version... I don't recall ever hitting a limit here before either, so perhaps it is a new thing, or at least enforcing it is.
Nice review rearadmiral, I joined just before the holidays, and really wish I hadn't. I have hit the limit every day I have tried at under 10 GB (usually like 9.5), even when I hadn't logged in for several days. I don't know why I keep coming back here, it just seems to go further downhill every year. I think your 75 is appropriate, and will probably change my score to something similar, if not lower.
Also, DTA works at RK, but you have to be careful about losing the queue if the cap kicks in.
