I guess I should play "devil's advocate" here though as well. One of the things TBP factors into a review is whether there is info on the models.
And I like getting info on them, too, but it has to sound real enough and not like some made-up crap like "Favorite Food: Mom's Caribou Filet!"
I do like it when the models info says that they're into guys and not bisexual. Sure, I'm a jealous of other women! Like in that Tim Buckley Song, "Sally Go Round the Roses."
And the "vital statistics," while usually obvious enough from what you can see with your naked eye, can sometimes be interesting. Take Peaches, for example. Always thought she was a little cutie until I saw that she's actually quite a big & tall girl at 5'10".

Everyone's different, which is kind of a useless generalization that has some truth to it. But to date/marry a porn star, you would need a thick skin, which I don't have. You would also need a way of accepting your wife/girlfriend having "professional" sex with other men or women or both, and I just don't think that way. Different strokes for different folks, as they said back in the 1970s.
I am surprised at the results of many poll answers, because I think the PU members are responding with their honest feelings in many cases. You would expect a lot more bullshit or posturing in the replies, but I think, partially because of the anonymity of the usernames, that we are being more honest than I would have expected.

Well you hit a good site as your first site because I just joined yesterday and I am liking what I see so far. I do have a few quirks but they are mostly navigational so far, the models are quite cute and I love the content so far.

Great response. By any chance to you remember the site that was your first? Would just be interesting to see what it was with all that info you provided for sites in general.

The only person that I can think of at the moment with fame and wealth that actually did something positive is Paul Newman. He created the Newman's Own foundation that has donated millions to different charities. Of course that is a far cry from a pornstar but that's the only that came to mind.
I don't think you are too cynical. It's a fact that we are animals.
That is why when one of us rises above his or her own basic interest and does something positive. We point that person out as a good role model. I just find that many people today just don't rise very high anymore.

Totally agree with everything you said as far as the actual model is the final decision in terms of how long she decides she wants to stay in the business. I am with most with the fact of the matter that porn awards are pretty much null and pointless. However, I did try to think a bit hypothetically and say, "hey, if awards are going to happen, mind as well be by a panel of fans". But, I pretty much don't care about them at all even though I chose fans should the panel. I guess it is the combo of the industry decisions with the models decisions plus the fans wanting more that decide which are the superstars. There is obviously no clear cut answer at all.
Yes, Jenna did bring that all american blonde with titty implants to the mainstream porn world :(

Interesting take but just like all entertainment, I think it's probably truly a combination of both the fans and the industry. However, I believe the industry finds the product (this being the model) and can present it well (in terms of porn, a well made scene) but it is truly up to the fans to pass along the information to boost the career. Of course, the next superstar of porn appearing on some amateur website with a small amount of users (or a dvd title in a lower tier company) will probably go un-noticed by most due to the lack of viwers in general. So I agree that it is up to the industry at that point. However, the industry is a bit different than the pre-2000's when it comes to entertainment but especially adult entertainment. A model exclusive to the internet can now get extremely more popular than the stars of film. A new model who knows she has it, can just appear on 2 or 3 sites with a extremely large population base and that can jump start her career, why? because of the fan base population. Of course, the industry is the outlet but I think the fans design how far they are going to go.
Another reason I think this but it just popped in my head and could not be entirely true is I remember when I used to rent dvd's from the more popular companies (vivid, wicked, etc) and there were always scenes with models that just never took off (however, they are vivid girls/wicked girls) which basically means they 'made it' in terms of the industry but obviously just could not pick up a good fan base to true stardom due to the fact of NOT having a true fan base. These stars from these films I never really saw again which I think was due to the fact that the fans really did not respond well.
You mention that the reason some of your more favorite models over the years were now gone despite being appealing due to the fact that they were attempting to 'sell' themselves as a package and did not get it right. I obviously agree, but why don't you think they are not here? You said they did not get it right, but did you mean get it right with the industry or the fans? I would lean more towards they did not get it right with the fans and due to this, they are not around anymore. Just my opinion.
As far as Jenna Jameson goes, I believe she came around when porn was in a transition from the 80's and early 90's when the models were in my opinion, not up to par by today's standards. I believe she brought the youth with glamour combo that the industry is now to the forefront. Whenever I see 80's stuff, all the models tend to look extremely amateurish and if the most popular models in their prime were in a line up with the popular ones of today; I think they would clearly be overlooked in terms of looks alone. However, I do believe Jenna Jameson is overshined in terms of the stars of today. But, in that line up in terms of looks in her prime, she would not be overlooked. I believe her career took off due to perfect timing when she was introduced.

Hi turboshaft, I agree with everything you are saying.
My remark was in connection with one reply to the poll. Paraphrased: "I would never do this because it would affect my career if someone ever discovered that intimate picture/video of mine on the net."
When I read it it brought the question to my mind: How would I feel about subscribing to porn if, every time I looked at the models, I saw their future careers in other fields shattered because of an unwise choice or because of youthful carelessness.
I don't feel that way. I feel the way you do about the subject. Just wondering about the implications.

1. In ideal world, you're right, in practice it just won't happen. While it would be nice to see things made back in 80s in HD, with current pace of technology older formats can easily become obsolete in a matter of 1-2 years. On the other hand, what's the big deal? There will be new sites with new material in 1-2 years :-).
2. Resolution itself is a rather poor metrics of the quality. I'd rather take crisp 2000px than blurry 4000px (and when camera matrix is working close to the edge, blurriness often shows up; it can be quite easily fixed at the expense of resolution, but as long as people are comparing numbers, not pictures, websites won't an incentive to do it :-( ).

> "Why would anyone want pictures that are bigger than the screen?" argument goes out the window (or out with the smaller monitor).
While I admit I'm not a picture fan, I'm still wondering - how many people REALLY have monitors big enough to care about 4000px-width pictures? Ok, 2000-2500px monitor is more or less standard these days, but 4000px on a single monitor? Not only I've never seen such a beast, I've never heard about anybody who has one.

"Community Standards" means that those who stage the Miss America Contest should be jailed if any of the material gets to a Muslim nation that forbids viewing of a woman's ankles, let alone a bare stomach. Such a rule undermines all freedom everywhere if allowed to stand.

I believe Uncle Jessie is probably a reference only American PUs might understand.
I googled it and the only near match I could find is a character named "Uncle Jesse" in "The Dukes of Hazzard" TV series. With all due respect to the actor who played him, he is, in fact, an old man.

You are so right. The Janet Jackson "scandal" was a case in point, much ado about nothing! I could never understand and will never understand the North American attitude when it comes to sex. Movies showing a couple making love within the context of a love story will earn themselves an NC-17 for showing some flesh while the most brutal, violent movies are being shown under a PG rating. To me violence is much more obscene than even hard core porn (which I don't care for personally) could ever be.

A note of explanation. The shop knows me as a business customer so he could have thought he was doing me a favor telling me about the porn so that I could deal with an employee. However I did tell him when I brought it in the day before that he was to charge me, not my company, for the work done. In other words it was not a 100% MYOB deal, but closer to a 75% MYOB.

Interestingly, the material that I have downloaded at House of Taboo (and of course this just represents my tastes) downloaded as "Hot Legs and Feet" material - so I believe that there is definitely cross-pollination across all of the various brands - not that there's anything wrong with that, in my opinion.

What I don't understand is I am getting fast connection on other porn websites except for DDF sites. It could be routing issues but still DDF is a big website company that should be able to compensate a good bandwidth connection to most clients around the world. At times like this I wish I was back in the states. The ADSL has improved greatly thru my ISP. My speeds runs as fast as cable now. I really don't think its my ISP provider.

Hiya everyone!
I'm Sue-ann, I'll be your contact here on pornusers.com, answering all your questions and comments. Well, maybe not everything - a girl's gotta have some secrets... :)
The team here at abbywinters.com did have a little bit of an upset but it's business as usual this week, the photographers are out shooting and there are still loads of cute Aussie babes walking through our doors...we're not going anywhere.
The main website will have a complete revamp towards the end of the year. It's very exciting and there's a bunch of new, way cool features I know you'll love. Stay tuned.
Regarding newbie 100 scores: abbywinters.com has never and will never post spam reviews. When a member sends in great feedback our customer support team have asked them to spread the word, posting here and on other review sites their personal experiences with us. We won't do this anymore as it seems their passionately positive reviews are annoying some people..
Anyway, questions are most welcome and I'll do my best to help
Love ya later!
