When you spend as long as I have doing your collection, losing it would be catastrophic. I am happily married 12 years (faithful for over 14 years to the same woman) but do like my Porn (that's not being unfaithful is it?). I like my Porn rather a lot. How much, todate I have 2289GB, or to put it into Terabytes, just over 2 TERABYTES. Will I ever have the time to replace that. No way. I've got some good stuff aswell. I've probably got one of the best collections/vaults of all time.

It would take a fire or tornado or asteroid or something like that to completely vaporize my collection. I've had disk crashes before, as well as other unforeesable computer horrors (thanks to the idiots who made it possibe, btw). But I keep everything on redundant disks and CD's, too, just in case.
I had to reload from CD's once about three years ago. Now I've got a ballpark 400 or so of them. What fun that would be!
I'd be very bummed out. It would be depressing, but I wouldn't require medication or a stay at a rest home in the countryside. I'd get over it. I've had to deal with losses before.
Then I'd get right back to it! (Of course, all of this is assuming that I wouldn't leave this world along with the collection.)

That would be sad - very sad! As with others here, my entire place would have to go for that to happen, though. A very small percentage of my collection is on my hard drive.

I have totally gotten rid of my porn about every three years and actually enjoy "starting over." I only miss a handful of great scenes I got rid of.
Most of my porn is sitting like unread books in a closet since I really enjoy the HUNT for good porn even a little more than the porn itself. I find myself not even viewing a lot of downloads, but instead surfing for newer and more unique stuff.

I had a 250 Gb external hard drive that was about 80% full. I packed it for a trip across country last Sept. and it worked fine at my destination. But when I got home the hard drive would not operate properly. A computer tech told me that I shouldn't rough handle an external hard drive because, unlike those external hard drives identified as "portable," it is easy to damage the drive.
I think I can get the stuff off the hard drive but I surprised myself. I really don't miss it, mainly because I can count on a ton of new stuff to replace it.
Interesting thing about porn, it's fun when it's around but when it goes away, no big deal.

My answer is: Sad, but.....
Still I will see it as a disaster (I won't get depressed, though).
I got about 200 Gb of the finest porn-videos ever made.
And yes, if they where lost - SHIT!
On the other hand, it's still somewhat a feeling of getting born again -:) to clean out your HD.
And again: It will take a hell of a long time and too much money to regain that stuff.....so I hope my external HD won't break down.
In other and final words: Some of the GOOD OL' stuff is almost priceless...
Fine poll, BTW

I've been watching porn since the days of VHS and Beta. I've thrown away more porn than I currently have in my collection. Yes, I regret not having certain videos today. That's mostly because I find that the stuff that's been coming out of porn valley in the last 5+ years is mosttly crap, and that many of the ones I had aren't available in any format anymore.

Hum...20 Hard drive failures, I dont see that happening. But you never know. I would cry for a year!!! 9 TB is a lot to loose! I would have to go ape shit for a year to get it all back and then some.
I have lost more porn than most people have collected...so I know exactly how it feels :(

Not really much of an issue - I've actually willingly deleted my porn collection because I needed a hard drive in the past. My current collection is probably iteration number 10 or something near there. One way or another my porn collection rarely lasts more than 2 years. A couple of months ago a drive failure toasted about 250GB, I've already got 200GB of porn to replace it.
I don't think I'd ever keep multi-terabytes of porn - I'd never remember to look at it. Honestly, if I had boat loads of money, I'd just subscribe all the time to all of the sites I even remotely like and then invest is a beefy ISP so I can download whatever catches my fancy at that moment. Plus I often get a bit bored by older content. My collection exists simply because I'm not rich enough to not have one.

For me, it wouldn't just be loss of porn; it would be a loss of many hours of organizing, tossing out unwanted material, and collecting from sites that didn't offer zips. (I started collecting when zips were the exception and I'd never heard of download managers.)
There are certain pics and vids that I still treasure years after having collected them, and some are from sites that have disappeared. I still look at Linda O'Neil and go "WOW!" I found some vintage hardcore of Annette Haven -- "ooooh." Jana Cova (though she seems to be making something of a comeback) -- "YEAH!" A vid of Julie Silver getting boned belly-down flat for something like 5 minutes (this has since disappeared from ATK Premium) -- OMG! OMG!!

Of course Drooler is right:
Think about how many hours you've (we have) used organizing all that stuff on our hard drives - so, yes, a loss is almost unberable.
And BTW - after this poll I took a another look at my "savings" - and yes, some of the stuff I'll probably NOT be able to find again - and that's material - GEMS - I'll never clean out...

I can relate exactly to what youu are saying but after losing it a number of times, a couple by choice and others through stupidity, I'm more protective now.
In the mid nineties (no internet), in the UK you couldn't get it hardcore so I had satellite. I had over two hundred VHS tapes. 3 hours long each. do the math, 600 hours. if you average 700 MB per hour. That's 42GB. I have over 2 TERABYTES now. I'm just glad I don't need to keep them on VHS. BUT, like you say, I know 80% of it I've never viewed. Like you, I love the Hunt...
so here's back to happy hunting...

you're teasing us now with references to Anette Haven hardcore. I just went into a dream state and cancelled a download window that popped up.
In your sentence you then follow that with Jana Cova (though she seems to be making something of a comeback)...
Are you saying you have her doing hardcore...if yes, which Site.
I'm getting my creditcard ready right now.
By the way, I'm sure Jana Cova did a hardcore scene once with Rocco, in London, in the Buttman series...honest it's her before she was famous.

Obviously it would be a waste to throw out a Hard Drive without checking you can use it again. I ran out of hard drives once, before DVD write, and writing CDs took an age, so I used to swap my SATA drives out all the time. I have a pile (11) of them but when i tried to connect one the other day, I got all nostaligic and wanted to see what was on it, my new machine (XP) didn't recognise the drive and bloody re-intialised the drive.
i've also got some (back in the day - 14 GB worth) of Patricia Ford. but this is on DDS 3 Backup Tape (43 DDS Tapes in total - 12 GB each), and in order to retrieve this at some stage, I've packed up a DDS Tape Device.
This is a serious admission of obsession so I'll stop now...

No, sorry, I didn't mean Jana Cova doing hardcore. I've just seen a new set or two of her at one of the Babelicious bonus sites. You can tell a bit in her face that she's aged, but she's still a beauty in every way and her body is TNT mixed with nitro!
At Dr. Harcore, which I once subscribed to, I picked up some scrappy scans of a hardcore thing she did when she was very young. I don't remember seeing Rocco in it, but maybe he was a spring chicken, too. Anyway, I just kept the pics as a novelty -- kind of like someone keeping a piece of a plane wreck.

Classic Quote. That is the first and only time I will ever hear someone compare pictures of Jana Cova doing hardcore like keeping a piece of plane wreck. All I can say to that is, turn off the landing lights and hope she crashes into my house.
I know what you mean...I think I got it wrong. It was Elizabeth Shay...wow.

Yeah, for all we know some of this stuff could eventually wind up being very hard-to-find. It could increase in value, like my old Sun Records 45's that I kick myself for having discarded some 30-odd years ago. I even had a Batman lunch box in the '60's. Shit!
I can see it now: "PornBay!" (Of course it would have to become public domain material first, I s'pose.)

It's because they were in such a sad state. They looked like poorly done scans of faded print mags from the '80's. And suppose one might say that Jana's hardcore career crashed and burned early ... or it never "took off" (yuk-yuk).

Little did I know, at that time, of the transformative powers of obsolescence. Yes, I could have swapped some of the old, precious stuff, like Johnny Cash singing "Cry Cry Cry," for some "WWW" (dot you-name-it).
