badandy400 (0) Of course there will be repeated threads. This is not necessarily a bad thing since it gives an opportunity to take the conversation in a different direction.

Lionheart (0) It's not that bad that some topics get repeated, there are always new members joining and sometimes options can change over time.

Jay G (Disabled) All conversations on related topics can't necessarily be in one thread because threads do go off on tangents. Anew thread with a new angle is a GOOD thing.

lk2fireone (0) This is a great chance for PU staff members to soak up their free time.

They can review each thread and pick the best submissions on each one, then start a new uber thread with the best possible, most informative and witty ideas und answers.

I kind of admire almost all the posts by lk2fireone. He's someone I really respect.

Tree Rodent (0) I voted no. I like to see a healthy forum with lots of threads. Also, I am always discovering some new stuff as a newbie. I have just read a really old thread about suspicious reviews, and all the comments still apply. There are still newbies posting very quick, gushing reviews, and it is always unclear whether they are just inexperienced at reviewing, or people with vested interest in the site.

Monahan (0) REPLY TO #3 - Jay G :

Correct. Long threads that become longer are difficult to read and, because the tangents are hard to change, usually don't attract a lot of interest.

If a thread is truly redundant it's no big deal for someone to post a link to the old one...or post a comment in the old one that pushes the old one back up to the top,

Denner (0) Agree with badandy here - many threads can have somewhat similar content - BUT nevertheless it could "take the conversation in a different direction".
Well put!
So, yes: NO!
Keep it up, brothers! (and sisters)

Cybertoad (Disabled) Seriously,

I think PU was smart to allow this forum idea, its still in its infant stages as well.
Not to say its not good, but I ran a forum with 3000 ppl for about 7 years and setting up and monitoring was nuts at times.
We still get a occasional rouge spammer at PU's forum but for the most part its smooth.
I think it was great idea as most sites you have to join to use the forum and wen your membership dies so does your access. Here you are open to talk about stuff you really cant talk with others about always as they will think your a perv ( which we are haha )

But it was a great strategic move to add a forum and even the polls.

They are the best review site I have seen in years and looks like PU will take the lead someday if they havent already.

messmer (Disabled) Naw, I like going off on tangents. I also dislike going back over hundreds of subjects to see if something has been discussed already. So redundancy is fine with me. It's also good for venting. If reduncy is allowed (encouraged?) you can keep complaining about stuff that keeps bugging you without anyone screaming "hey we discussed that last May already!!" :-)

Denner (0) The rather short history of this Forum at PU shows NO.
Thought about this again: Apart from a couple of facts (that siteowners have to join to go along - good thing and we have to keep up) - look at other issues:

We often see older threads comming up again and again. Why? Because PUs keeps comming back to some of the questions that seems importend - and have been a thread earlier. I do not find that redundant.

BTW: Good poll (and discussion)

Drooler (Disabled) If you do a keyword search in the threads for "download manager," you'll get these thread titles:
-"Download Managers"
-"Need advice on a download manager / accelerator"
-"So, about downloading a whole site"
-"Experiences with download managers"

If you search "list" by title, the titles are:
-"Sites not listed in the best porn"
-"Unlisted sites"

Search "censor" and you get, among 16 in all:
-"Free speech and porn"
-"Big brother comes knocking in the UK"
-"Censorship by porn website(s)"
-"Censorship"

I think the simple "yes" or "no" can tell us which side of the question people tend to be on. It's true that a topic can have different "angles," and I think different threads for them make sense.

Still, as for myself, I'm going to continue to avoid impulsively starting new threads on topics that have already been introduced. And it wouldn't surprise me if we get another thread title on "boobs." LOL. So far there's just one! (Oh, forgot to search "tits.")

Wittyguy (0) I voted "no". Is there some repitition, yes. Is it out of control, no. About the only thing I could see for now is a slightly more sophisticated search function but that would be too much effort for anyone to invest their time into for now.

lk2fireone (0) I voted "No" on whether PU had too many redundant threads.

I would also like to vote for a new pollster/mathematician/odds maker for PU.

I was not great at math.

But when PU tells me, that I have 0 of 22 live tickets, with 3 chances to win the raffle, I know something is not right.

With 0 tickets, how can I have 3 chances to win?

I know I'm handsome, smart, and charming, but am I so incredibly lucky that I am worth 3 chances to win when I hold 0 tickets?

Can't tell what you were looking at but I show you *currently* have four (4) live tickets.

lk2fireone (0) REPLY TO #16 - Khan :

Esteemed Khan,

Yes, it's true I currently have 4 live tickets.

I am battling my way to my first raffle win, date unknown, when I will gratefully clutch the filthy green.

But before I had 4 live tickets, I had 0 live tickets. And when I went to the PU page:
https://www.pornusers.com/raffle_user.html

it showed I had 0 live tickets, with "3 chances to win".

Now I have 4 live tickets, and the page:
https://www.pornusers.com/raffle_user.html

shows "(You have 4 of 44 live tickets, 3 chances to win)"

It's no big deal, but there is no way the 3 chances to win could be accurate for 0 live tickets. And I doubt that it is accurate with 4 live tickets, because 4 tickets would represent 4 chances to win, not 3 chances.

Like I say, no big deal. You might want someone to fix/update the software that controls the printout on the page, or not. This is a very minor detail.

I was trying to be witty.
