Each type of scene needs to have its setting. A great looking girl looks so much better when she is a nice setting.
Would it make sense for a bondage scene to be on the beach? Although that might be interesting, it just does not make sense nor does it appear to be bondage like.
We have all seen the amateur scenes with dogs barking in the background, trash on the floor, and terrible lighting. The same couple doing the same thing in a nice setting is so much more appealing. And at the same time a great looking woman just does not seem the same when she is featured in a trashy setting.

Setting and decor either add to or detract from the value of the shoot. You focus on the models and the action, but the setting and decor are definite factors in how you react to what is taking place. There are many factors that go into the "value" of a shoot.

The setting is always important in any video creation but is especially so in the production values required for porn, where the lighting and camera angles must never be affected by the nature of the setting.
That said, I get turned off when I see the same old couch with the same old sheet or blanket (that's probably crackling with dried up cum) used over and over...or that unfurnished house for sale in Chatsworth that they hired for the shoot that day.
A well thought out setting like a working fireplace or a poolside encounter can add a lot to the scene.

A beautiful setting can help, but sometimes it can be distracting because it is so overwhelming visually. For example, almost every beach scene I was taken in by the setting well before the girl or action. It definitely helps to have a nice set, but it has to complement, not compete with, the main action.
This also applies to more amateur looking settings; if there is a lot in the background it could draw people's attention away from the subject. Ever look at photos or watch a video, but you kept focusing on something in the background instead? (This is part of the reason why I don't enjoy public nudity or sex, too much going on in the background.)
I like simple, clean, but not overly luxurious settings. Seeing mansion after mansion, or paradise after paradise, emphasizes the fantasy aspect too much for my tastes. I also don't like the studio backdrops that a lot of photographers use -- too boring. Somewhere in the middle are the good settings.

Since I happen to have seen more than 1 or 2 porn vids in my lifetime I'd have to say that it's nice to see some variety in the shoots and that goes for the scenery as well. There are times when the photographer gets carried away trying to emphasize that they're shooting on location someplace exotice. However, when looking at scenes from a particular production company it gets pretty generic when every scene is shot on the same couch or same hotel room, etc. Everything starts bleeding together.
So, I guess variety is good, just don't go overboard trying to emphasize variety for its own sake.

One of my big pet peeve is the lack of originality
in most porn movies today, so setting and decor are very important to me. I don't mean that you have to invest thousands on the set, but can we
finally stop seeing sex scenes involving just a couch.

I could care less about the setting or decor. Im watching the girl, not the background.
