Fires can spread very quickly. There are people I've known who dealt with fires unwisely; they are no longer with us.
I'd rather lose my entire stash and come out of a fire as unhurt as possible than risk injury or death trying to rescue it. You can't rebuild if you're dead.

It might be difficult to keep a clear head in those circumstances, but even then you have to prioritise.

In order of Importance -
1. Daughter
2. Dog
3. Personal Items, but most important of these in fireproof safe anyway.
4. Computer and Porn.
5. Plasma TV
6. Wife

While I build up a stash over and over again, for me the hunting for good stuff is the real fun.
I have more stuff on my little 500GB external hard drive than I could ever really watch. If I lost it I'd have the fun of starting over again.

Funny question in a way. I'd get my wife out first. I need someone to catch those hard drives!
Seriously. I have one external hard drive, a 1 TB one that I don't have hooked up. It is in a closet in a box right beside the door. It has about 750 GB of my favorite porn on it, and 100 GB of my favorite music on it and 25 GB or so of family pictures/records/history. I would do all I could to grab it, but wouldn't risk my life or my wife's for it.

REPLY TO #6 - exotics4me :
I keep a catching glove outside so my girlfriend can catch my hard drives as I heroically save them. I wonder if any house insurance policies would be willing to cover a porn collection? The problem is that my computers could be the source of a fire, in which case saving them might prove to be difficult. I have had a power supply burn up right in front of me while I was using that computer. It did not catch fire but it smoked a lot and sizzled. My house burning down would really suck because I have amassed so much stuff that I would really hate to loose. I have always felt bad for those who have dealt with a house fire.

I wouldn't even give it a second thought. I might regret it after it's all gone up in flame but at least my family and I would be alive to regret it.

PinkPanther's got it right - Cats first. Then I go for my stack of backup hard drives, which include a lot more than porn - they represent most of what I've done as a hobby for the last 10 years.

Most of my porn is on my laptop which can live or die as it was only 400$. My GF and my documents (passport, social security and all that shit) is more important.
