If there's enough content already there to get a good months worth of downloads out of it, then yes, I would.

A couple of sites i joined at the end of last year were no longer updating, superglam and teenrotica, first time i joined both, plenty of content to download for a month so i could download everything i wanted knowing i won't have to go back again so it doesn't bother me at all having no updates as long as there's plenty of content.

hodayathink and tangub have it correct - If a site is being honest about the state of the updates and has a wealth of content, and a reasonable price, given the lack of updates, it can still be worth a join.
It's even more a crap shoot, though. A site that is no longer updating can have lots more broken link problems, etc, and if it's a site that the webmasters aren't paying any attention to, then any problems that you run into can be problems that nobody will care about resolving.

I've joined a couple of sites that were no longer updating, but I really liked the content, and figure that I got my money's worth.

NO - and again Maybe....
If I found a site - with great content AND where I never been before (doubt both, though - but you can never tell) - I might consider.

If it's stacked full of content that I don't have, sure.

In my experience most sites that no longer update are also carrying content that is of yesterday's quality. I am experiencing this right now with a loyalty bonus site I was looking forward to on the Ferro network. Their last and final update was in avi and not very good by today's standard. So, for me it's a no.

It depends on the content. If they have good, large amount of content but aren't updating I'd probably do it. Otherwise that is a no.

I never understood the aversion towards sites that no longer update, and especially the users who then jump on this board and give it a review score of 50 solely for no longer updating. Thankfully I haven't seen one in a long while.
Okay, a site that has a backlog of 500 sets available but no new updates, does it really piss people off having access to _only_ 500 sets instead of 500 plus 5?
And sometimes you get lucky, last month I joined a site that I new had a short life & hadn't updated in a year, but I still wanted the content. Got in, immediately downloaded the sets I wanted, two days later the site goes offline forever... and I get a full refund from ccbill! Would be surprising for many, I was actually contemplating not asking for a refund, because I know the guy put out a lot of his own money to create the sets I wanted, he deserves the money... but then I figured with this chance spend the money on someone else who is still producing new sets with my fav girl!

It really depends if I have been a member previously.
If so I probably have most / all the material I like there.
If not I might punt for a month if the material appeals.

It depends. I must really, REALLY want some of the exclusive content. Even then, the price has to be right.

Yes, if there's enough desirable content to justify my need, and especially if the price is right. I'm likely gonna give them a shot for only a month, anyway.

I vote yes. But that answer presumes that the site has enough content to make it worth the price without the updates.

Rearadmiral seems to sum it up nicely: If a site has enough good content, it's worth joining once. But without updates, as long as you are able to keep the downloaded material in your collection, there's no sense in joining a second time.

Do any of the ones who voted "yes" or "maybe" worry about WHEN the site stopped updating? There is not a single review of any site that doesn't state: Older content is of lesser quality! To me it only makes sense to subscribe to a non-updating site if they just stopped a month or so ago or if I am collecting a particular model and they have some sets/videos that no other site carries. How important is quality to you?

I can't think of one site that hasn't updated in a while and that I'd like to join but if I found one and their existing library appealed to me than I'd join once to get their content.
There are quite a few sites that aren't really updating with brand new content as much as older material that has gotten a major face lift.
Should these sites charge the same amount as they did when it was all new?

No idea about people in general, but yes, it pisses me off. And it is not about 500 vs 500+5, but about three things. The first thing is that if site hasn't been updated for 2 years or so, it can't possibly have stuff in decent quality. The second reason is that sites which are no longer updated, are way too often reselling same old non-exclusive stuff. The third thing is more subtle: if I know that some clip was there for a while, it is not new anymore, and this feeling alone has a chilling effect on me. I feel it is similar to the reason why people are paying BIG money to see a NEW movie as soon as it comes out (while the very same movie will be available for 30% of the price half a year down the road). Illogical? Maybe, but so is whole human nature.
So for me personally, update frequency is very important, and while I still can join a site which doesn't update anymore, if I have any choice, I will prefer site with recent updates.

Agree, if a site has dated updates and I know before hand that it is no longer updating I may join if there are scenes I want. What really pisses me off are sites that advertise frequent updates but havent updated in months

If it is a site I have never visited before, I'd join if I thought it had decent content. In my experience over the course of a month subscription most sites will only add like 10 sets, so it isn't that important.
Also, I had a hardware failure once that prompted me to rejoin an inactive site.

I probably would join, as others have already said, if the site has a big enough archive, if I haven't joined it before and if I think it's really going to be worth it.

Like others have said, if I'd never joined the site before and there's enough content to make it worth the cost for a month, I'd go for it.

As long as they have large collections and excellent quality, why not? I would rather join a site that is no longer updating but have excellent quality rather than another site that is updated every week but with crappy quality.
