Lionheart (0) it's all about the context of what they are saying/answering to. As well who is saying it. When my boss sends me messages in all caps I usually hear an angry voice, when some person writes in all caps on a thread like on youtube I assume the person is most likely a moron

Denner (0) I'm not a shrink, but could it be an inferiority complex - "to yell"?
Anyway I think it's worse to read and cannot see the idea - you can use caps for a word or two - but not in a whole script - it looks like hell....

lk2fireone (0) I don't really have a problem reading a message that is in all caps. Actually, since I don't usually use my reading glasses when looking at the computer monitor, it's easier to read the words when they are in caps (bigger letters).

Monahan (0) Who cares? I prefer reading posts that are in normal upper/lower case but if someone chooses all caps, what's the harm?

Back in the day it was seen as SHOUTING or ANGER but now with those dinky teensie little devices it's hard enough just typing a message let alone worry about the cases.

atrapat (0) Another option could be "They've accidentally turned it on" but obviously only applies to chats.

It has happened to me to have hit by accident the all caps button during an online game match and then I've sent a short chat message in all caps at the end of the game.

pat362 (0) It's a question of context. If what the person wrote appears to be derogatory or insulting then the caps lock just add to the insult but sometimes people don't know any better or they didn't pay attention. I'm bad for writting stuff without looking at the screen and only realksise after a couple of lines that I was in caps lock and must restart from scratch.

adamSpec (0) For some reason typing in all caps, or random words in all caps bugs me, it's almost as bad as people who type like they are texting on an old phone.

turboshaft (0) "They're important"? LOL!

I doubt being mad or young has anything to do with it--you can express plenty of anger (I should know) or youth without hitting the caps lock. I think it's a rude sort of inferiority complex that is just some people's way of begging for attention when they don't want to take their clothes off.

graymane (Suspended) #26...Denner just stole my thunder.
I choose "other" and was gonna go-off on a tangent about "inferiority " and the need to express oneself in whatever manner as to draw attention to same.
But my preceptive PU colleague has already conveyed that.

otoh (0) Hmm... I'd say somewhere between ignorant and insensitive for those who just can't be bothered to type in upper and lower case; and add self-important for the ones that more specifically choose to do it.

jberryl69 (Disabled) If they do it all the time, they're ignorant or stupid depending on what they do or do not know.

Or sometimes in playing WOW ppl sometimes hit the Caps Lock key by mistake and will type all Caps - that's a mistake.

But generally no one types in Caps for too long because other people will give them shit about it.

lk2fireone (0) REPLY TO #21 - jberryl69 :

Thanks for the suggestion. I usually do re-size my screen fonts. Like they are currently. But that makes for another problem, because now the complete page does not fit inside the monitor. I have a small section of the URL page that is outside the monitor, that I don't see unless I use the "whatever" bar at the bottom of the page, to move the page slightly so I can now see/read whatever is on that small section of the URL page that I don't see.

But it's better for me to re-size the fonts, because I only sometimes want/need to see the section of the URL page that is not shown to me.

exotics4me (0) I picked other, but only because I have known two bloggers in the past that typed in all caps because they couldn't see well. This isn't near the issue now that it was back then, but the blogging software they used didn't have a WYSIWYG editor so the font they typed in was extremely small though it would format it in larger type.

Other since I kind of got used to it reading their blogs.
