With the amount I download these days, I have no need of a download manager.

Never seen the need. I don't rip an entire site at once, as I like to actually watch all the videos that I download, so I almost never do more than 2-3 at a time.

I've tried but without success - I simply didn't understand how it worked and ended up deleting them. I manage okay without one.

I tried almost all and found that while they worked fine they were not automated enough. I do download a lot and I do download everything from a site that I join. Even with a download manager, queuing up all of the videos/photosets a site has to offer is still too time consuming. I ended up writing my own that makes downloading a site a matter of a couple of clicks.

On the odd occasion I have used Firefox DTA to grab photos where no zips are available but have to admit i'm not always successful with it.

I usually just download using the browser. I use a manager - DTA - occasionally when I want to queue up some very large movies for overnight download (my ISP account is capped, but overnight doesn't count).
Also as Tangub has said, to fetch images where no zips are available - with a bit of thought it can usually be done.

I use Free Download Manager. I don't use it to rip sites though, I use it because if the site allows a long time before a link times out then I can queue up several scenes and go and do something else. This way I'm not constantly monitoring a download so I can start another one. Another advantage to FDM is that it allows for much faster downloads than just using a browser like Internet Explorer.

I'll second Capn's comment. If I'm using IE then the download manager is standard and when I'm using Firefox then I still use Download Them All but in both cases the number of files is rarely more than one or two maximum.

Mr. Frosty, is there some way you can put your download manager on the web, such as posting it on a new forum thread at PU?
I've tried download managers, but since I'm not technically inclined, have not had much success with them.
Maybe I (and other PU members) would have better success with the download manager you wrote.
I don't rip sites. But I would like to make downloading multiple files easier to do. Instead of manually downloading each file I want by itself.

I use Down Them All but only because it gives me about five times the speed that the regular Firefox downloader would. I don't queue up and leave. Strictly a convenience while I am browsing the site. As so many others I don't download all that much, only the odd scene or set that appeals to me.

When allowed, I always use a download manager - not necessarily for the speed boost, but to allow a download to resume in the event of a broken connection. When you have a bandwidth cap and download a lot of large files, the last thing you want to have to do is start a download over.

I use DTA all the time, it is just more convenient... I don't rip sites either, just like to be able to queue things up as I see them, plus get much better speeds when using one.

Unfortunately its not that simple. The program contains my usernames and passwords for the sites I'm a member of and without a easy way of letting users insert their own details, sharing the program would quickly get my accounts blocked. Also it will only work for sites that I have been a member of as each site works slightly differently and needs a bit of setup. I have mulled over the idea of tiding it up and releasing it for general use but don't really have the time. If I ever do though I will let you know.

Always, everywhere. Everything I download above 100 megs or so I send to DownThemAll.

It really depends on the site for me.
If the site doesn't have enough content to justify a subscription renewal but it a special niche I'm interested in, I might just download the whole thing to enjoy for a couple of months before getting a new subscription to get the latest videos.
Otherwise, no. Unless the video is really big and the download via browser is too slow.
