Depends on the tour, if is just a few quick pages, I am usually a bit dubious - if it is more in depth with a full site tour I usually trust it.

I had to click other, I don't really feel you can have one answer that fits all here....those sites with comprehensive tours that preview all their models and photo sets with samples I wolud trust and those sites that just have a 2 or 3 page tour that gives nothing away I would probably not trust on the strength of the tour alone and rely more on reviews.

Whilst some can be downright misleading, the more comprehensive & open the tour is the more confidence you get in what you are considering buying.

I don't trust them at all although sometimes they show you parts of the actual content. More often they are like advertisements with no real content show.

I differentiate 'tour pages' from sites that allow a full view. So with that, I don't trust tour pages at all. I really can't understand why a site would create just a couple of tour pages and expect me to buy a membership based on a few photos. I want to see what I'm buying and I want samples of all photo resolutions available and a video sample in all resolutions too. To do less would be like expecting me to buy a car after only having seen the brochure.

I've developed a rule when it comes to a site's preview section and what you'll ultimately find inside. If a site has a very good preview section then the content is likely to be as good if not better. If a site has a poor preview section then it's likely that the content will also be poor to awful. If it has a tiny preview section or no preview section at all then stay away. You might pass up on a great find but you're more likely to lose your money on a piece of crap.

I use Google as my private tour guide usually.
Though it might be somewhat frowned upon, I do use video streaming services to preview a site before getting a subscription.
If I can't find anything, I go by the tour pages. If there are any.
If it's too polished it's usually (pardon my French) crap on the inside. If it looks like crap in the tour and shows there might not be a whole lot of content, it's probably crap on the inside as well.
I look for something in the middle usually.

The better the site the more accurate the preview and tour, for obvious reasons. I went for the don't tell all box. Most of the sites I have joined, have exremely accurate previews, but that's because I don't go for the shady rip off merchant sites.
I wont touch those that have lousy previews. If you think your material is so good you have to censor it or not show much of a preview to protect your copyright material - WRONG. You lose me as a customer straight away. I always go for a PU/TBP review first, to determine if it's a reputable network or site, then decide if I want a tour or preview. If it's a lousy preview I'm gone.
This may not go down too well, but I consider some of the best previews to be on free download forums. That has got a company my money quite a few times.

REPLY TO #8 - Tree Rodent :
I agree with Squirrel.
A lousy preview means the site hasn't spent much effort in attracting any business.
If there are no PU/TBP reviews on the site with a lousy preview, that means no one feels the site is worth commenting on. OR, the site is too new to have any following.

The clips are obviously going to show you the highlights, like any movie trailer, but I find the descriptions are often misleading and promise things the full films don't deliver on.
Reviews are helpful of course, and those combined with generous previews make me more likely to subscribe to a site.

I haven't been tricked yet - since I don't really trust basic tours. Most/all sites I have joined are those with full access to the list of models/sets.

The problem I find associated with a question of this nature is you're at the mercy of whatever site you're perusing to do as they promise. Unfortunately, one don't find that out until he's laid his money down. But my past experiences have been basically good .... except but one called Hypno girls .....which dilivered nothing it promoted...

Mostly - I think - the quality of the preview/tour follows the quality of the site in general.
I've only come over a very few really good sites, that had a bad preview/offered a poor tour.

Depends on the tour. But the tour and any PU/TBP reviews help determine whether I will probably join a site.

Between the shot in hd, only a dollar and all the other things that let me down, not much. Thats why i double check what the site says by using good old trusty PU reviews and thebestporn.com site

I can generally tell if I would like a given site, keeping in mind some don't tell you everything or accurately. But that's what I've got PU for!
