[I'm assuming this is applying to the United States of America] Unless the moral conservative backlash gets absurdly more power, I don't see this happening. Even under Bush II they didn't manage any significant outlawing. Fringe fetishes like those catered to by Max Hardcore will always be at risk, but for the vast majority of porn, I think we are safe.

No.
No one country has the jurisdiction to do that.

I do not think it will happen in a Western democracy. A lot of economy and technology depends on porn. Think of how much income ISPs, computer and equipment manufacturers and many more derive from it. Not to mention that some mainstream media movers and shakers have a background in the porn industry. Objectors may make a lot of noise but I do not think they will overcome either the vested money interests or the defence of freedom of speech.

I hope not but I wouldn't be surprised to hear it next on the list to ban, in some peoples eyes sex is the work of the devil it seems, nothing would surprise me these days to be honest. I think it will be heavily restricted soon with isp putting automatic block on adult sites until you prove you are over 18, theres talk of this now in the UK and lots of people voting for it to be banned altogether.

I think every government would love to control the internet and they are on their way to do so.
So eventually, things will be (heavily) restricted. This will probably include porn as well, sadly.

No. In the western world I don't think it is or will be possible. I like to cite Dr. House (don't remember his exact spelling) here: "If they ban porn from the internet there will be only one single internet site in the future with the title "We want our porn back"."

I guess it depends on the country - there are many which would like to control it, along with other aspects of the internet. However, it's a big business, and generates tax revenue... so hopefully it will never get too bad.

Porn is already banned in some Muslim countries, I think.

No. Too mainstream these days. And here in CA it's a major part of the local economy so, as bad as our economy is right now, taking out the porn industry would literally force LA city and county into instant bankruptcy.

I think it will go the other way and be part of mainstream life style. Just like alcohol and Marijuana, nothing that human indulge in will stay away too long if at all. I do however see the exstreem side of porn dying off just like B movie do, and average porn with average familys will watch with no taboo in mind.

Not happening. The western world is moving the opposite direction and I see less and less restrictions in an environment no one can control anyway.

I thought I heard something on the news here in the UK a while back about ISP's being asked to automatically ban access to porn sites because of concerns about kids accessing porn and those who want to recieve adult content would have to "opt in" to recieve it. I've no idea if or when it might happen if ever.

Considering how much money is still made in porn I'd be surprised if someone banned it. Then again a ton of money is made in prostitution and that's illegal.
With the right people in charge I guess anything could be banned eventually. We just have to be careful who we elect and support.
