Most of the time, yes; I've got about 3 physically identical drives used for different thing; the smut one is euphemistically labelled 'Data' :|

Very bizarre poll...
Anyway, the Porn External is always connected, though being full it isn't used as much as the 3 internal drives. I also have a second external that is occasionally connected for backup and miscellaneous uses, so I selected "Yes, most of the time".

My 4 external drives are connected all the time via a USB hub although the 2 Iomega drives which are just used to store old content have an external on/off switch so are permanently switched off unless I want to check out some old content.

Never even thought about it but yes at the times and no at the others. When I tidy and wipe my table, I tend disconnect and to put them also in drawers. Sometimes they end up being running for weeks.

Mine are connected but in sleep mode until needed, I keep my adult material generally off the main pc.
I do this so the PC's in my home can be networked without access to some surprises. I don't hide my porn as much as I am discreet about it. But externally it wont show up and my internal drives with adult material are mapped to not show until I tell them.

Yes, all the time. It's a rubbish HDD though, might as well be turned off to be honest.

So I guess the external drive has replaced the collection of dirty magazines as a man's porn stash. This is all very educational.

Why would you leave it connected all the time? I use mine as a back-up of important stuff so I only use it when it's needed.

I tend to only turn mine on when I need them on, don't know how much electricity they use but don't see the point in having them on when not using them.

No, only when needed. Agree with Toadsith - bizarre poll! And Heather, yes that is exactly what it is, and it means we no longer need a reinforced floor and 300 cu ft of storage space for it :-)

Two externals are connected all the time, so that's an all-day, all-night three-hard-drive group sex scene, plus there's an older one nearby. It's turned on, but it just sits and jacks off -- which is about all that it's good for anyway.
Once in a while, a thumb drive will come along just to cop a feel.

Only when needed. To conserve the HDD's, as most of them are USB powered anyway.
