DivBZero (Suspended) I predict that this will be a landslide victory for full access trials!

Maybe it'll be a landslide, but I've grown to hate trials. You have to remember to cancel, some sites charge an outrageous recurring charge. I'd rather have a very good site preview, like FTV Girls. I've given up on trials.

I LOVE full access trials. Limited access trials? Forget it.

Monahan (0) Trials, other than full access trials, are a total waste of time and money. Met-Art has a 1 day full access trial for $9.95 that is the only legit "full trial" I've actually paid for in the last year. I like that approach very much because you can really see if you like the site and want to sign up without, in their case, dropping $30 for the privilege.

No, unless you have 24 hours to spend, youi won't be able to D/L too much of their stuff, but you get to really know the site.

In my case, I like video more than pix, and Met Art is principally a photo site (an outstanding one, by the way) but I was able to ascertain that it wasn't really my kind of site. The $10 saved me the $20 more that a month long access would have set me back.

Denner (0) Trials for 3-5 days with full access is what I'm looking for most of the time: For a good price, of course.
I hope more and more sites would realize it could also be a good deal for their part - if they got the stuff serious PU-folks are looking for.
If the content is in the upper level, I'd be quite tempted to go for a full membership.
In contrast to sites which are reluctant to show customers what they can offer...

A very importend poll from roseman!!!

pat362 (0) I only join trial memberships, if they offer full access to their content whether for a limited time or not. I've tried a few where they say limited access, but not once did I come out with a good idea of the content offered. The reason you'd want a trial membership is because what's available on the preview pages is just not enough information.

turismo (0) I'm a fan of trial access (using TBP of course...) I just look for those that have CC bill as preferred billing agent (easiest to cancel with) and search for anything under $10 that gives me at least 3 days to get used to the site
I normally cancel the trial the same day (or even immediately after I have logged in) to avoid rebilling.
I can't think of a site I signed up for 30 days after the trial period though, I can normally download enough content to make it my moneys worth - and its a nice way of getting some exclusive content without having to spend $30 for just a handful of scenes

troglodite (Suspended) I'm with jd1961 here - of course a full trial is preferable to a limited one. I can't imagine anyone could sit here and say "yeah I'd rather be limited to just a tiny bit of content than given access to the whole site", but there are multiple things to consider: If a site is brand new, I might not want to spend $25-30 on full membership when I'm gonna come away with like 4 vids and a handful of picsets (I've gotten burned a couple of times this year), so those sites are always nice to see a 3-day full trial membership for, since the site isn't really worth the money yet.

However - for established sites, they don't necessarily need a trial if they have a great tour that indicates what you're going to get when you sign up. Look at bangbros or FTV or Liz Vicious - you can pretty much pick the scenes you want before you even join up. I think that's great and wish more sites could follow suit. Tours should *always* be dynamic and demonstrate the frequency and content of the latest updates. It's easy to spend money then. Sorry for the long reply! :)

Drooler (Disabled) You know, at first, it would seem that this poll question is like asking if Ursus americanus deposits its waste products in forested regions.

However, I think this question does have value because the response to it shows very clearly to webmasters that providing "limited access" trials is pretty pointless. And they have to config their sites for the purpose of setting up that kind of trial, which means a fair amount of work for them.

Now they are being told, by us, "don't even bother." Hopefully, these poll results -- thanks to the poll question in the first place-- will lead to fewer and fewer of those annoyingly limited trials.

DivBZero (Suspended) REPLY TO #2 - jd1961 :

OK jd, I see your point.

I like full access trials on good sites because they are a 'value' way to catch up on content. If you have a site that charges $30 per month you'll find that you can DL 6 months of content overnight. Then cancel the trial as soon as you're complete.

Do this twice per annum -- bargain

Cheers

Khan (Suspended) Considering the audience, I know this won't be a popular question but ...

Do you ever wonder if surfers who use trials just to raid sites are the reason more sites don't have full access trials?

Guess that should be a question for a different poll. :)

Drooler (Disabled) REPLY TO #12 - Khan :

That's indeed an important question, and it has the makings of a good poll question, too.

I've always wondered why some sites offer full access trials. One possibility I've considered is that it actually increases the amount of money coming in. To give a hypothetical example, it would the difference, in a 30-day period, between one person paying $30 for a month vs. 5 people paying $10 for a week; that is, if results showed that those five people were coming in the place of that one monthly subscriber, then the trial pricing would actually be generating 66% more income.

But there's no way that I can tell how much business savvy goes into a given site's decision to offer a full access trial. (As you can see, I'm still trying to encourage more of them. ;)

nygiants03 (0) full access trials are the best. Atless they are only about 10 dollars cheaper then a months membership. I never forget about a trial because I cancel the same day, and you get your access with out having to worry about rebilling.

Monahan (0) REPLY TO #12 - Khan :

Yes, Kahn, that's a consideration.

But if a site can be "raided" ("drained" of its content) in a 48-72 hour period, it's way too light on content and is likely to have very few renewals.

Sites with light content, such as single model sites, can address the issue by establishing download limits on trial users, such as 2 Gb per 24 hours or such. That way the trial member can still check out the content but can't keep it.

IMO, the most effective way for GOOD sites to attract and retain members is to offer a brief trial (2 days) with full access but with a download limit, followed by a full price month (say, $30) followed by a second month, if continuous, for $25.

Alternatively a high priced trial (say $10 for 3 days) that applies the trial payment against the first month so that the price for a full month would be an additional $20 would be effective.

BTW, high quality sites like FTV, Ox Pass and All Internal, to name a few, that have large numbers of "trailers" in their free tours provide effective "limited trials" for free.

The competition is getting better and the number of sites is getting larger by the day so sites need better and more imaginitive front end strategies just to stay even.

SnowDude (0) I've said in the past that I'd happily be restricted in downloading any material if I get full access to everything. The point is to see the material and decide if you want to download it. Maybe it's a dirty word, but what if sites had DRM trials with full access. If you join the DRM is dropped. That way, we get to see the entire site and they can protect their material.

It's kind of the same thing I said about Napster. Many people claimed they were justified in downloading stuff free because record companies made us buy an entire album to hear just a few songs we really wanted. Well, now we are able to download exactly what we want for a buck or less. So, is pirating still justified? The point is: If we acknowledge why porn sites are reluctant to gove stuff away for free, maybe they'd let us see everything.

Just a thought.

cblodg (0) I wont do a trial that isn't full access. I'd rather have a full access trail that has a non-recurring charge and a reminder to either up grade or cancel.

badandy400 (0) Full trials can be a wonderful thing. If on a good connection you can frequently download the entire site during the trial and cancel before every being charged the full amount! Done this with many site already.
