Porn Site Tours are kinda like a presidential election. They show you all the great stuff they offer. They promise allot of extra and great service. They tell you that they are the best at what the do and have the best staff.
However because all they show is the greatness, one will never truly know from a tour how many updates, how fast is their download time, do they allow download managers, are they cross checked boxes, is it hard to quit, and how do member feel interacting with webmasters with issues. And when they say HD is that 100% 50% or 10% of the total amount they offer. Tours are just commercials to get you to buy. Porn Users exist because it give very very........very neutral reviews from those that have nothing to gain and will give a fair, balanced review. Tours are just biased commercials as they are intended to be. I seldom even watch a tour.

Well designed tours can be useful, especially if they gave nice thumbnails of the site models, some indication of the site content (sample video previews, sample pictures, etc.).
But like Cybertoad stated, a good PU review gives a better idea of what the site is like, it's plus and minus points, etc.
So normally I want a PU review to check, before I join a site. Unless I think the site has some models that I really like, because I am a sucker for a pretty face.

If nothing is forthcoming, I will test the water & publish my thoughts.

Generally I want reviews but I could see myself taking the plunge without one. Mostly I've revisiting mainstream sites so the question isn't all the relevant to how I purchase.

I used to only join sites with member reviews. However over the last few month I've realized someone has to be the 1st so I've become more comfortable jumping in (if the preview section is good enough).
I've have once joined a site that did not have an adequate preview and regretted it.

Usually when I've jumped in without a review or a comment I've wound up disappointed. I won't say I'll never do it again, but for the most part, I wait to get some feedback on here before signing up at a new site.

Sometimes I'll take the plunge - I'd be cautious but if the preview is really good it's hard to resist sometimes.
If the site is new then it's understandable if there's no reviews, but if it's an older site I'd be more suspicious I guess.
I have submitted a few sites to TBP/PU and nominated them for reviews... but ultimately the first review has to come from someone - I've benefited from reviews from others so I have to return the favour!

I'm very nervous about scams and malware. I haven't been burned recently, but I use sandboxie for all new sites and I am very cautious. If PU accepts the site and there are reviews, then that's a form of assurance. http://www.siteadvisor.com also helps.
If I have confidence, then a good preview makes a huge difference. To put it another way, not having a preview will usually turn me off. I don't join Danni any more because the preview is so limited.

I rarely take the plunge these days and one reason why is because there are so few new sites being added to the net that discovering one that has no comments or review is quite rare. I guess another reason is that those that don't have a comment or review aren't worth joining.

Rarely but sometimes it can do that. It helps if the tour shows actual content and also that the site is listed here even without comments and reviews.

I often like sites which are off the, er, beaten track, so many have not been reviewed yet. So I am happy to join an unreviewed site - as long as their tour is informative and gives a good idea as to what to expect!

Sometimes I will take the plunge if there's a decent tour showing all the models and updates. That was the scenario on my latest membership at Love UK Glamour Girls where I couldn't find any reviews in advance of signing up. The tour showed all the updates but what it didn't reveal was that half the photo sets were only 800-1000px on the long end so I ended up a little bit disappointed. I wouldn't let it stop me from taking the plunge again though, as marcdc1 said someone has to be first.

Guilty .....I do take the plunge, and admittedly have too often found myself in troubled waters.
I 've found it common that many promoters don't live up to their promises.
