Perfect10.com "porn"?

I remember reading an article on the internet a while back about Perfect 10, and how they were suing Google, as well as various websites, for "illegally" displaying their images...

But, what got on my nerves, was that the article referred to Perfect 10 as an online "pornographer". What does everyone else think about this?

As far as I'm concerned, websites like Perfect 10, Gods Girls, Suicide Girls, MetArt, etc aren't exactly my definition of "porn". That's like calling Playboy a "porn" magazine. If there's no sex, simulated sex, insertions, masturbation or over-the-top spread-eagle shots, then I don't think it should be called porn.

Thoughts?

I tend to agree with that definition of porn. The trouble is that some feel that anything that can not be shown on open TV should be considered porn.

They are showing nudity which in effect does make it porn. That is why we have different degrees of porn, such as softcore. "For example, badandy400 has taken it upon himself to become the one man Library of Congress for porn with a collection that surely will be in Guinness Book of World Records some day." ~Toadsith~

I agree with you but I wonder if these people have ever watched NYPD Blue? There was some serious nudity on that TV show but I guess it was in a specific setting or with well know actors so it can't be considered porn.

Don't you love hypocrites? Long live the Brown Coats.

Everyone has their opinion on what label to give them. Is it "porn"? Is it something else?

I keep it simple.

My definition of porn is this - if the images are being sold for the primary purpose of masturbation, then it is porn. If not, then it is something else.

Then take NYPD Blue, the nudity used in that show I'm sure was not added in for others to masturbate to, hence it's not porn.

Couple other movie references off the top of my head:
A Clockwork Orange = not porn
Monty Python's The Meaning of Life = not porn. Edited on Mar 22, 2010, 07:37pm

I don't know Dennis Franz has one hot ass!

Seriously though, I agree with justme's definition, so I'd probably classify Perfect 10 as porn, softcore perhaps, but still porn. Bunny Lebowski: I'll suck your cock for a thousand dollars.
Brandt: Ah hahahahaha! Wonderful woman. We're all, we're all very fond of her. Very free-spirited.

I do sort of agree that anything that's meant to be beat-off material is technically porn.
But I flinch a bit when a newscaster refers to a women who posed for a playboy magazine spread as a "porn star."

Yeah, that's kinda what i was getting at. It's like calling the women on NakedNews.com "pornstars" just because they're naked.

Of course, there are plenty of model profiles on OneModelPlace.com, that despite not being there "masturbatory" purposes, could easily be used as such.. given that there is plenty of nudity.

I dunno..

"If you wish to converse with me," said Voltaire, "define your terms."

OK. If someone is called a porn star, we always (don't we?) expect that person to be found on video having sexual relations with others (genital sex, anal sex, oral sex, or least some kind of masturbation employing the hands or feet).

Self-masturbation is a grey area, I'd say. So it's understandable that some might call it porn, and some might not.

But posing naked and having facial expressions that say, "Give it to me!" is not porn. That's just nude modeling done particularly well.

I know we had a poll and/or other thread on this topic before. But that's OK. I wanted something new, so I left England for New England.
