Pubic Hair? Is it making a comeback? I have always been a fan of natural / lightly trimmed hair 'below decks.' The 1970s was heaven..Leg hair & armpit hair was thankfully largely out, but pubes were in. I have never stopped loving that! We have gone through a decade or so with the frozen chicken shaven look. I ranted to webmasters who took zero notice of me but, unless me beady ol' eyes are deceiving me, it is starting to make a comeback. Yep, I'm a hairy freak. In both senses of the phrase! ;0) Odd that a natural look should be described as a fetish. :0/ My enthusiasm does not extend to leg or armpit hair though. What is everyone else's opinion? I think we've touched on this subject a few times in the forum. You're in the same old man category I am - and we're more or less programmed to like the hair because it's what we pulled ourselves through puberty to. (Like I bet you remember the first time you saw some bush in a Playboy magazine.) I don't know that I see a return to the natural look - at least not in mainstream porn. I see it mostly in the amateur sites, especially sites featuring mature models. I guess that's why I'm the quintessential amateur fan - I love the natural look too. But it's definitely a fetish, as is any preference a person would seek out when viewing porn. Sarcasm is a body's natural defense against stupidity. | |

Here's another old man speaking out in defense of that lovely bush. I know there was a time when very few women shaved because they would have been mortified if they had had to explain to a doctor or nurse why they had done that, and, all of a sudden, (almost overnight .. to me) it's become a fetish. You'll find various posts of mine throughout this forum and in some reviews defending the natural look. I subscribed to ATK Natural and Hairy more often than to any other site until most of their photographers let me down by being too repetitious and by forgetting to put enough lingerie on their models. But, of course, now the natural look is "shaved" and a lot of our users tend to express outright disgust at the thought of an unshaved pussy. The times they are a'changing and I think we might have to get used to that because I, as opposed to you, don't see any resurgence of natural and hairy as something "normal" anywhere. BTW, having looked at your profile, our tastes seem to match. :-) | |

I find it odd that something naturally occuring should be deemed fetish, but removing said item be said to be natural. I suppose most folk get their hair cut so perhaps it is just me. :0) Anyway that is just trivial. Why was leg hair and armpit hair for women mainly on the outs during the last 60+ years, while pubic hair was mainly in until recent years? Now pubic hair is definitely out (how gross). I'm talking U.S. standards; Europe and elsewhere might be different, over the last 60+ years. But the current trend is definitely no hair for legs, armpits, pubes, in most of western culture (Europe and U.S.), for females, at least. | |

I don't know if anyone my age found hair in an arm pit gross but leg hair was definitely out, at least in Canada. Imagine my shock when I visited my sister in Germany twenty years ago and found that no female in the family shaved their legs. So it is indeed cultural. Of course, many things change in twenty years, so Europe might have gone for the shaved look in the meantime as well. | |

I prefer trimmed. Not hairy but not bald either. Something is just a little weird when you see a "woman" with no hair and then again it is a little scary when you see a massive bush. I think there is a middle and I think some women are still trying to find it. As far as what is in porn these days finding amateurs for hairy is also getting difficult because society is starting to make women feel that if they are hairy it is not as "clean" as shaved. Can't say I am a big fan of pubic hair, though I can at least deal with trimmed. Like everything else, it varies from person to person. Some shaved models have razor burn or stubble, both of which can look pretty awful, so a model who has the right skin in the right places and knows how to take care of it can look great. In regards to RagingBuddhist, considering the number of Gillette videos I have seen about shaving everything but your face, you would have to spend hundreds of dollars, if not more, on their products every year just to keep up. It's not secret that I prefer pubic hair over the kojac look. I'm still curious to know when and possibly why the bald look came into existence. I can understand wanting to keep it trimmed but to go outright bald just seems weird to me. I have a friend who has brought up the subject of a brazilian waxing and frankly I do not understand why you would get something that is clearly painful done to yourself for a specific look. It sneaked up on me and quite frankly I didn't even know that women shaved/waxed their pubes as a routine until I seriously got into Porn about two years ago. Interesting results, if there is any accuracy to them. More than half (57%) of women 18 yrs or older trim, partly shave, or totally shave. I bet those numbers go up for those in their twenties and thirties, but drop off somewhere after that. Much of this article sounds like there are some serious problems though, particularly regarding health and embarrassment: A level of embarrassment in discussing women's anatomy also exists, as the survey revealed that less than half (43 percent) of women indicating that they are completely comfortable discussing their genitals and using the word "vagina." If this figure is even remotely true -- 43% of women -- then that is the embarrassment. No, nobody really loves being honest with a doctor, especially a gynecologist, but this is people's health on the line, and I would think the effects of being less than honest are far worse than blushing and butterflies in the stomach. I'm serious; if we have a problem getting past our puritanically Victorian fear and embarrassment of the human body, the female one in particular, then it is a part of our health system that is in need of serious reform. It does sound a little low, but it only said "all women aged 18 and older," not just college aged coeds. ;) Plus, how much of the population actually practices the acts and looks we see in porn? I read a couple of articles about the waxing or sgaving the entire pubic area on the net and I'm still curious to know why women are doing it and when it started. Depending on who you read then the percentage is high for women between the age of 18-30. It's almost non-existent with women over 35. So 9% admit to taking pubic hair completely off, but what as the percentage of women who were not comfortable talking about it? Thus, less likely to admit to shaving "down there." I think the number might be higher than this statistic is showing. Every woman I have been with has completely shaven. Of course that has nothing to do with me shooting shaving cream down their pants, locking them in the bathroom with open porno mags, and throwing pink razors at them. :) The real question is, do women shave or trim if their partner prefers it? The percentage of women willing to do so would be pretty high, at least I would suspect. Trimming might be more popular than shaving because itching would be much less of an issue. As for bringing back the bush. I hope it does not come back anytime soon. I do not mind there being porns made that way, but I do not want it to be prevalent. I love to clean, bald look. I hope it is here to stay for a while. I guess I better watch for a pissed off buddhist at my door. Does holding an electric razor fend him off like a cross and a vampire? I've said it before - I think the desire for shaved crotches can be at least partially attributed to your age. I'd had this discussion with quite a few guys at my last job, almost all of them in their 20's and they're all with you - they hate a full bush. It's what you all saw when you first saw porn and/or a naked girl, so it's what you like. I think you all are wrong, but my father's generation thought I was wrong on everything, too. So it averages out, and it's okay for you to hope shaving never goes out of style. And, to answer your question, no, it doesn't. Sarcasm is a body's natural defense against stupidity. | |

Good answer, because that's exactly what it is. I think the first porn you ever saw has a huge influence on what you look for later on in life. Man, that's funny! Though a more subtle approach might be to give a shaving kit as a gift, instead of locking someone in a bathroom, but I'm just guessing. ;) And no offense, but I would suspect many of the women who use the phrase "down there" to refer to the pubic region, not specifically the vagina (and if they have to actually shave that, then they really should see a doctor), are the women who don't prefer to shave it completely. Having said that, I hope I am completely wrong because I also love the shaven look, as long as it is done well. I would only change my mind if RB starts getting really angry... I certainly hope these women are not in need of shaving IN their vaginas. That would be scary! RB. My first naked picture was of women with moderate bushes. I first seen the women in Playboy and such back in the mid 90's when almost all of them had hair yet. A few magazines in my older brother's stash had a photo or two of women shaven and I feel in love with that look. I understand what you are saying though. In real life I do not mind a bit of hair to be honest. It is something that can be changed here and there to add a bit of spice to a sex life. When it comes to porn, absolutely she must be shaved. Not to forget the guys here, in porn the guys should not look like used up lint remover pads.
