On a 15 mbps-rated cable connection, I was getting around 300-400 KB/sec (or 2.3-3.1 mbps). On sites that I know are served from US servers, I often see downloads north of 10 mbps, sometimes up to 20 mbps as my ISP will boost bandwidth when I am downloading large files.

Great, thorough review. I appreciate the details, particularly about the DRM situation. The TBP review still says that the site's movies are DRM protected, but the site and your reviews says DRM has been removed.
I am a current month-to-month member of VB. While you said that it is not yet a challenger to VB, do you think that this site is worth joining at the same time or is it one to join for a month and come back later? I guess I am asking if you would keep a recurring membership to this site, given its low price.

I think that Jay G and PinkPanther have an interesting point. While it may be a common fantasy, in reality, threesomes and swinging often involve a lot of hurt emotions.
On the other hand, I would like to be able to believe my partner at face value if she said that she would be okay with it. But, I know my partner and she would never agree to it, so it's a moot point for me.
I think it is an interesting dilemma, but not one that will likely need to be addressed in my lifetime.

That's where I think we have two different viewpoints. I don't think that it would cost 2x more because of economies of scale.
I do think it will increase their customers. Maybe not double their customers, but it should be enough to offset any increases in costs. I have to imagine that they are making pretty good money charging $30/month right now, too.

My quote refers to my scoring rubric. On a scale of 0 to 10, with 10 being daily updates, I scored Society SM a 5 for weekly updates.
I agree that this update schedule is about the same for all of these types of sites, but IMHO all of them could update more frequently (even 2 scenes per week would be a great improvement).

I should probably be used to over-paying for fetish/BDSM content, but it still pains me to fork over $30 a month. In particular, I hoped to have access to the site's archive and download past scenes. This is possible, but after the 5th or 6th RM file, I gave up. These older movies really need to be re-encoded and reposted, especially since new scenes only come 1 per week.
My other complaint deals with the separation of movies and pictures: there isn't any! You have to click through each gallery (often 5-8 per scene) and hunt down the 5 or so movie clips for that scene. If I wanted to download pictures, this makes sense, but if I only want the movies, why make me click through each one? Why not put a movies gallery in each scene?
The site earned its really low rating based on my rating criteria which heavily weights update frequency, ability to download movies in 1 file part, and archive size. While the site scored well on archive size, it really bombed out on update frequency and movie downloads.
If you enjoy BDSM content, I think that there are better sites out there, like Fucked and Bound and Sex and Submission. If you are really tired of those and you have an extra $30 to blow, try Society SM. |

Ass Fixation is the Jules Jordan DVD series that focuses on big butts and anal sex. This site definitely continues that tradition with lots of anal play.
I enjoyed the site for what it is: a huge repository of Jules Jordan anal scenes. While I didn't recognize every scene, most were simply ripped from the DVD series or from other JJ films.
As a pseudo-studio website, I have no problem with re-using DVD material, but I wish that the price was lowered to reflect that fact. Unfortunately, the price is very high for a lot of DVD rips.
The saving grace is the network access. By including all of those extra sites, the webmasters managed to salvage some value.
Overall, I would join if you like anal sex and can take advantage of the extra network sites. Otherwise, I would take my money elsewhere. |
