As a member of Videosz previous to my membership to Videobox, I had the chance to directly compare the two. My first impression was that this site had a less inviting interface. It was rather dull. The size of the library was, and still is, impressive to say the least.
The next thing I saw was the genre-listing. It was all the usual genres, but in my view it was very general after having so many more genres to choose from over at Videosz.
The next I looked for, was how to identify an actress I saw in a clip. With such a large library, it was a decent chance of them having at least one scene and a name to go with that scene. This didn't seem possible as there are no pictures to go with the names in the listings of the stars, and you get too many scenes when choosing a category, without the possibility of compounding categories such as brunette and gangbang to get only scenes with those tags. The only way to compound categories is to first have an actress name, and then go from there. Not really helpful in my opinion.
I recommend this site to everyone who wants to build a pornlibrary of their own, but for porn-seekers like myself who might encounter scenes with unknown actresses without getting the name, this site isn't helpful enough.

*This is an easy site to review because it's next to impossible to not satisfy someone simply because they have so much content to choose from that you have to be so picky not to find a modicum of decent porn to download. I didn't see much that is all that different from the last time I reviewed the site other than to notice that even more studios have died since then. That's bad news for a site like VB because it's another source of content no longer available and that also measn they have to look elsehere to be able to upload so many new videos each month.
*This brings us to one of my cons. Seeing as their sources of content are drying up than I expected them to maybe start searching for content from their existing studios. Many of their biggest studios have incomplete libraries of content and looking fill up those libraries would be agreat way to add videos that many people have never seen or haven't seen in a long time.
*I really wish they would have a simpler system of membership because as it stands I can't emphasize how much I find their current system to be annoying. Chargecustomers more money and give me full access or don't show the customers all the movies they can't see unless they upsell. For that reason the site loses some points. The upsells are a little stiff when you have already dished out for a monthly membership.
*For all of my negative opinions. I can't help but feel that everyone should join VB at least once to see just how much amazing porn the industry has produced in the last decade and more. I'd even recommend that people buy some of the upsells but only once they have perused the content you will get for your investment. |

The organization is good enough that you can find what you want. I sort of had a hard time limiting myself down to a manageable list of want to sees, because of how much is here.
VB is one of the giants. If you've never joined it's well worth the cost to take a look. There will certainly be enough here that you'll get your money's worth. For me I join every few months to check things out, but don't stay around very long because it's just too much effort to find something to watch. It's like having a TV with 1000s of choices - it gets to be overwhelming. |

All in all I personally was extremely satisfied with my experience. I joined at the rate of $14.95 / mo and stayed for one month... at this price I believe you get an at least very decent deal for your money. The amount of content is simply overwhelming.
I liked the way the content was organized into categories, and especially that they didn't create twice the amount of them just to have a different 'folder' for a few videos they have. On the other hand the search function - as others have reported as well - was acting weird at times, but it didn't bother that much, I usually just got lost in browsing like mad man. There are other ways to find what you're looking for, for example by using the 'newest', 'recommended', 'top scenes this week' or some other filters.
There are no pictures whatsoever, except for the DVD covers and a few screenshots that you use for searching. It didn't bother me at all, I'm a 'video guy'. Video quality was OK. I'm one that would enjoy nice HD footage every once in a while, but most of the time I'm rather looking at the content of the video rather than its quality; as long as it reaches a 'watchable' level, I'm OK with it. With that being said, offering only DVD quality and below is a little bit outdated, but I think it fits the profile of the whole site at the end. You get different .wmv formats (high and medium) and a few extras (such as iphone / ipod formats). Streaming worked just fine for me. That top 'search bar' was a kind of difficult to understand... I guess you should be able to see the frames where you're trying to get, but as it was mentioned earlier too, it's so inaccurate that it was almost useless (you really don't get where you think you scrolled on it). This was a little bit of an inconvenience, but nothing major.
Download speeds varied. Sometimes it was just fine, especially when doing multiple downloads at the same time, but sometimes it slowed down to the point I'd consider bothering.
Overall I was pretty satisfied with my month spent at Videobox. For those who want pictures, top quality HD material, or maybe just have been browsing porn for 'too' long, this site might be repetitive and outdated and not so much of interest. Otherwise it offers an amazing amount of content, and a user interface that can be lived with, especially considering the price you're paying.
ps.: As an extra note, a friend of mine took a look at it who was interested in their real milf selection (where 20 year olds in high heels don't qualify as milf :-) ), and he was pleasantly surprised with the amount of actual good content available; according to him including series, and parts of series that he hasn't found anywhere else earlier. |

I only have one problem with this site, but it's a big one. I bought the "DVD-quality" subscription, hoping to see better than average quality, but that wasn't what I found. All the "DVD-quality" videos I downloaded were 640*480 pixels, which in my book isn't high quality, more like average. I was hoping for something like 960*540. Even in "DVD-quality", videos are looking blurry in fullscreen.
I recommend this site for people who prefer quantity over quality. |

When talking about Videobox, in the end it comes down to the basic question of quality vs. quantity. Which isn't to say that there isn't good content here. There is, and in a general sense, there's a lot of it. It's just that there's so much content, that a lot of the good stuff can just get lost, so you have to go hunting for it. And if you're solely focusing on the newly uploaded movies (which is a bad idea, IMO), then the ratio of good to bad looks even worse. When you're running a site with this much content, the thing you absolutely have to focus on is search and discovery. Making it as easy as you can find to find the type of content you're looking for makes the site look a lot better, because there's probably going to be something you really like here no matter what you're tastes are. And while Videobox does look like it's trying improve there, it looks like there's still a ways to go.
As stated, the big draw of Videobox is the amount of scenes. They list over 85,000 scenes, which is more than any other company that I can think of. Even if you get rid of all the repeated uploads (of which there are a lot), you've still probably got more than 75,000 scenes. Forget about a month, that's more content than most people could hope to go through in half a year. The content goes back at least a good 20 years, and you can find scenes that are a good deal older than that. And many of these scenes/movies are from companies that not only don't produce content anymore, but closed up shop before the internet became the primary method of porn distribution. In other words, these are scenes from companies that don't have websites, so outside of VOD this is the only place you can find them. Having that many scenes allows you to have so much variety in them that there is almost literally something for everyone.
When it comes to watching those scenes, everything is pretty much standard (good streaming, good downloading), with 2 caveats. The first is that the quality maxes out at 720p. Which is disappointing, but not a deal breaker. The second is a feature they have that makes it so that you don't have to download the whole scene if you don't want to. Basically, when you go to the scene page, you can pick a start point and an end point, and then just download the video between those two points. It works really well, and I can see it being great for people who just want specific acts inside a certain scene.
And now we get to finding those scenes. They do offer the basics that most large sites have in terms of finding scenes. All scenes are tagged with female talent and tags specific to the acts in the scene, so you can look for them that way. You can also combine these tags to search for multiple things at once. There is a small issue where searching for a tag (act or actor) with the search box doesn't always show all the scenes that have that tag on them. There are also a small amount of scenes that are tagged with the male talent in them as well, which is both nice and disappointing. It's nice that they have the ability to do it, but it's disappointing that it doesn't look like they have any interest in doing it. I've always found it's one of the easiest ways to decide which scene of a particular performer I'd like to watch, and think every site that is large enough to have recognizable male talent in their scenes should say who they are in some way. You can favorite movies, scenes, and actors, but not studios or directors, as far as I can tell. And as has been mentioned by someone else recently, it would actually be a great thing if it could notify you that someone in your favorites list has a new scene uploaded. It would prevent a lot of having to dig around to find their scenes.
There were also a few smaller annoyances that I encountered in my time here. The first was that I could never get a single file to max out my download speed. I can max out at about 2.5-3MB/s on pretty much every other site I visit, but here I never got above 2, which was strange. Another thing was the lack of HD in most of the recent uploads. Generally, when they upload 5 movies per day, and only one of them is HD. This is acceptable when it's obvious that the movie was shot before the spread of HD cameras. But what I don't like is when I know that movies were shot in HD, but there is no HD version uploaded. This was especially noticeable on the Vivid premium channel, which was doubly annoying seeing as I paid extra for it. And even with that, Vivid was still worth it, since as far as I know Vivid's site doesn't allow downloads, while their Videobox channel does.
Just on the basis of the amount of content they have, I think every porn movie fan should join Videobox at least once, as there's bound to be enough content to keep you happy for at least a month. Whether you should join for longer depends on your tastes, and how much effort you're willing to put into finding content that you will like. |

I’ve been a member at Videobox for probably a total of five years or so, and I’ve reviewed it here several times too, so is there anything new that I could add? I hope so.
I still think that VB is an amazing site and I still recommend it to friends who are looking to build a porn collection in one easy step. VB is like the adult superstore that lives in your computer. VB is now creeping up on 12,000 DVDs and they continue to add five per day. I’ve said this before and I still believe it: VB is already huge so they should concentrate on quality and let the quantity slide a bit. If VB is like a porn superstore that lives in your computer, then the bargain bins are starting to take over the floor space. Past complaints have been that VB has too heavy a reliance on low-grade European porn, but they seem to be balancing that with more U.S. titles now. The bad news, in a “Monkey’s Paw” sort of way, is that the U.S. titles are frequently slapped-together compilations. You know the kind where a studio will pay some kid editor to compile some unrelated but thematically similar scenes? That’s the kind of work that gives you classics like “Girls with Moles on their Bums.” Okay, so I made that up, but it isn’t far off. I wouldn’t complain as much except sometimes a scene can be here on the original DVD and then on several compilations too. Even with the European porn, it seems to be bargain-bin quality.
Much of the discussion here seems to be about VB3. I share the opinion that most others have: I don’t like it. I’ll admit that part of that is because I don’t like change, but this seems to be a change just for the sake of change. Sure, the old VB was fairly simple, but that’s not bad. My suspicion is that VB3 is driven by marketing. It appears that not all the bugs are worked out yet either since the site pushes a “new and improved” VB3. I tried it and used the feature that allows me to add scenes to “my stash” for future viewing and I found it buggy enough that I gave up on it.
Other bad things about the site are probably more personal taste, but it sure seems like VB has every solo girl masturbation movie ever made. And a pet peeve of mine is that with many compilations (and even some original DVDs) the performers aren’t credited.
But as for the bad things about VB, that’s pretty much it. This really is an excellent site and I’d highly recommend it.
The format is known to most of us: DVDs broken down into scenes that can be streamed, edited into a custom clip, or downloaded in any of several ways. There is usually a clip labeled as “WMV DVD,” one as “WMV high” and two smaller versions for devices and iPhones. Since my connection speed is higher than the last time I was here I downloaded the DVD quality scenes only. They come in at 720x480 and 3800kb/s. HD is available on some titles but not many and it isn’t predictable. The WMV files are in codec 8 so that means that anyone using a set-top USB box (like a Western Digital) won’t be able to play these.
Download speeds are up to normal standards. One thing I really appreciate is that when queuing up scenes using a download manager the links don’t seem to have any time-outs. My DL manager was churning away the next morning after loading it with links one night. Not every site will allow that.
An addition that VB made a few years ago seems to be working out well – that’s the addition of several “channels.” I always add Evil Angel because I like their work. EA now has 526 DVDs on the site and add a new one every two days. Surprisingly there is little overlap between the EA channel and the two EA sites.
Vivid is a bit soft for me but I did try this channel once. It now has 528 DVDs and also updates every two days.
I’ve never joined the Reality Kings or Kink sites, though I may this time. One advantage with RK may be that if this is off the VB server then there would be no download limits. If I join and can say for certain I’ll let you know.
I’ve been a big fan and frequent member of Kink sites and I’m planning to sign on to this channel soon. It will be a good opportunity to try some material from their sites that I’ve not joined before.
One advantage to the channels that isn’t immediately clear is that the pricing is pro-rated. If you join VB at the first of the month and then add a channel two weeks later you’ll only pay for the two weeks left in that month. If you cancel your membership after a month it can be good value. If you keep the membership and all the channels you’ll obviously pay full price the following month.
If you need a concise way to think about VB, think of it as an all-you-can-eat porn buffet. The quality is pretty good, but it isn’t as good as other places. This is about satisfying an appetite when you want 10 pounds of chicken wings, not about treating yourself to filet mignon. Both have their place though. |

I do not expect to find the top-material here - but ok, maybe 1 out of a hundred, you still catch up with great videos - after a loooooong search.

The 85-score goes mostly to the vast amount and the - sometimes - joy of an almost endless search (without the search-machine of VideoBox) you got to choose you own speciel way here...
Gave it a 95 in an earlier review - but times are changing and the main cons are that VideoBox does NOT keep up in viewing quality for most videos... |

The aspect ratio of DVD quality videos (especially wmv) is wrong for half the times. While most videos are meant to be viewed with aspect ratio 4:3(except for newer ones at 16:9), Videobox encoded them to aspect ratio 3:2. As the result, the screen is stretched wider, so is the girls' faces or bodies. While this is not obvious to most users, but once it comes to my attention, it becomes quite frustrating. Correct me if I'm wrong
Here a scenario: having downloaded a 25 minute scene which could take up 800 Mb, way too large for a non HD video(thanks to extra encoding to stretch the screen wider), and you end up with a video which doesn't look quite right.
The provided DVD quality h.264 videos don't have this problem. They save disk space, but they can be a a bit grainy due to high compression during encoding.
Besides, the model directory leaves out a lot models' names appear in the DVD scenes. You better off using the search box, but then you need to know the name of the girl |

This site could really be the king of all pron sites if it would up it's quality, have more detailed niche content and maybe some exclusivity.
I, for one, would be happy to pay the extra premium to attain the above. |

For the price, I'd say at least give it a month to check it out - I think it's almost certain you'll get your moneys worth. The pros for this site heavily outweigh the cons (which were mainly little niggles). |

If you want lots (thousands) of American porn videos to choose and keep forever, and all for as little as $10/mo, this could be arguably the best choice.
I went for the full priced "DVD-quality" ($18) and still thought this was an incredible bargain. Assuming that this is the price that just 1 of this site's movies would be on DVD, and they have 4000+ videos to pick from, it's hard to go back to buying DVDs ever again...But there are some studios absent from here, probably because they want to offer their goods on their own pay sites. For example, if you just like Hustler vids, then keep looking. There are still tons of US studios on here, including quite a few you probably haven't heard of (and probably don't want to either).
A minor complaint about this site is that it is almost completely American. I lived in Germany for a few years and saw plenty of stuff that makes a lot of our porn quite tame and boring. This may not sound important, but considering how many US sites involve numerous Euro models, and create orig content as hardcore as the filth found overseas, it's worth noting.
Videobox's major weakness, and I why I ultimately left, was its speed (or lack thereof). If you like HQ and DVD vids, then get comfortable because it could take a while to DL them. This is likely due to its large customer base, but it's very frustrating. This site doesn't make you pay in $ just time. Still you should browse their entire collection before buying on disc again. |

I know this site is the "darling" of all the professional reviewers, probably because of the very reasonable price, but quite frankly, I would rather pay more for higher quality content. There are many videos I wouldn't download for free unfortunately, but it is funny reading users comments about this. Having said this, there are good videos there, and the price can't be beat. Being able to crop the videos to taste is a big plus, and downloading is fast and easy. |

This is a great place if you are buying internet porn for the first time, great value, LOADS of content. I was a member for one month and downloaded lots.....then tried out other sites and came back a year later and enjoyed the new content. But I never stayed for more than one month. If you have been a member of some other sites with higher bitrate videos and/or exclusive content well then maybe videobox MIGHT be disappointment quality wise. |
