Three minutes give a good idea of what is going to happen and can show a variety of scenes. They really do not need to be much longer than that otherwise they get to be a too much to download and actually watch.

Yes 3 minutes is enough to get a feel for what it is promoting.

I agree with the others. Three minutes is just about right!

3 minutes should be plenty of time to get an idea of what the video offers. Actually, 1-2 minutes should be enough, but if the trailer is good, then maybe it's worth watching the entire clip.

With my ISP's bandwidth cap, I've had to become a megabyte watcher. It sucks, but I don't like to see long trailers. To me, a good trailer is somewhere around a minute and a half and a good balance of showing action without looking like a strobe light. I've seen some trailers where they show 20 five second clips of the action and it just leaves me feeling like I still don't know too much about what they've got.

Should be, but that depends. If they show just 50% of what goes on in a scene -- which I've seen some sites do -- then maybe three's not enough. I don't know know why some sites fail to present enough of a comprehensive overview of their individual video content.

I think that 2 minutes should be more than enough time to give you an idea of what you will see in the video. I have seen some trailers that were probably around that length and I couldn't even tell you which actresses are inside.
What I do not want to see in a trailer is all of the action. I trailer is suppose to tease not to tell you everything. It's worse in mainstream. Most trailers are every good parts of the movie.

I'm cool with 2-3 mins as long as it's a streamable preview. Due to my POS ISP, I have no interest in downloading a trailer. Takes long enough to download the full movies as is.

I like the idea of short trailers, but one minute goes by quicker than I thought. 2 is good maybe.
I know some cheap bastards who beat off to the trailers rather than pay $20. So they love extra long ones.

1 minute sounds about right. just make sure the trailer is enough to satisfy and get a good idea with what's inside.

I like to see just a shot or two so the actual movie is a surprise. For me it's all about the first time seeing a movie, afterward it's lost it's appeal...

2-3 minute trailers to give you a good idea about what kind of content the site offers, once I've joined a site I rarely look at the trailers and just take a quick glance at the stills instead.
