Solo it is good, hardcore it sometimes seems a bit awkward when the girl just stares at the camera (I assume they are referring to eye contact with the camera not with their partner).

Very important for me, as I consider eyes to be the sexiest part of a girl. Sure, the other bits count :) but for me it's a sultry or saucy look that make a girl really sexy.
As slutty says, it's different for different types of porn - but eg for G/B I'd be looking for that same engagement in the way she looks at her partner (and him her).

Kind of important. Most of the times I don't notice it when it is missing from a scene but i never not notice when there is good eye contact in a scene (if that makes sense)it adds a little extra to it.
Nice poll question

Yeah this is a tough question, in solo stuff I find it essential and like it most too when she talks into the camera aswell.
In lesbian porn I think big no no as I like to be a fly on the wall and witnessing something as a voyeur.
In straight porn I like POV very much cause you can be there in a round about way and its good when she looks into the camera. But some scenes it benefits too being the voyeur, all depends on the niche of hardcore to me, an erotic sex scene done more like acting it works not to look into the camera but a gonzo scene it can be good when they look at you.

I'd say most times yes as I like to see the full facial expression on the model. Obviously though in some types of porn such as voyeur stuff, the model is supposed to be unobserved. It can be sexy when they forget the camera and really go for it too!

REPLY TO #4 - elephant :
Elephant said it well.
Part of the fantasy is that she's doing what she's doing because she loves doing it. Eye contact on solo scenes makes me feel like she's doing her thing to attract me personally. Without the eye contact I always wonder who else is there that she's working on.
When it's the standard strip, suck, screw, slurp sequence, if she starts out doing the tease part for me, then the stunt dick shows up, the fantasy is that she's doing the guy reluctantly because I'm not there myself.Enjoying the sex vicariously is what it's all about.
Lez stuff is another story. No fantasy there, just voyeurism.

I picked somewhat because it's all relative to the type of scene being shot. In some scenes it's not important but in some others that eye contact at the right time can boost the heat in a scene to a new level.

Depends on the porn. If the couple is in the middle of a heavy sex scene and she keeps looking over to the camera then I dislike it. Her heart is quite obviously not into what she's doing. If it is a solo then eye contact is a must.

I think previous comments have summed it up well, but I'll add my thoughts anyway...
Solo and POV, yes. Lesbian and hardcore, no.

As long as it's not too close, it's OK.

I tell you this much. When it comes to photos - it is extremely important that the girl looks into the camera. I don't know how many times that a woman is on her back (missionary position) for the pose, and for some reason she has her head turned to the side.
This is very true for the ATK sites - they always make their models turn their head for so many poses.

Important? .....Very.
Monahan pretty much steals my thunder. He covers all the bases and more elegantly sums up my thoughts almost completely.
I want her eyes looking right at me, and I want the expression on her face to give me the impression I'm the one initiating that expression ...as well as what's she's feeling.
What namely bugs me more is when the camera angle's shooting from the side of the subject, prompting her to follow the lens away from me .

Almost a MUST.......the girl/model looking at the viewer - and not at the cameraman or only at the male model i hc/bg - is essential.
And even more in solo sets/vids.
And I dislike vids in the photoshoot manner where the model keeps focusing on the cameraman.

REPLY TO #1 - slutty :
I agree with Slutty, I do not mind solo, but seems like she is doing something else if she is with another person and staring at the camera. This probably is only acceptable in POV obviously.

As everyone else already noted it depends a lot on the scene (solo/ boy girl/ lesbian, etc...).
I would also like to say that it depends on the type. In photos I love it when the girl looks at you, in videos it depends a lot on the type of the scene...

It's important in POV. Otherwise staring at the camera is a bit strange if there's too much of it. It doesn't look natural.

I like eye contact in porn, but that is rare in lesbian porn.
