I encounter it so rarely that it isn't a big deal for me.

Honestly, I haven't seen one that does it so I went with other. What would that be some kind of way to keep the member from downloading the content?

Never been to a site with that deal...
What's the purpose, anyway?

Well i put probably don't mind it at all because being more into photos the chances of me wanting to "right click save as" my way through photo sets these days are pretty remote....if i'm not aware that a site has zip downloads i probably wouldn't sign up in the first place. The only site i've come across in recent times that disabled the right click was Tia Ling who's site did everything possible to restrict downloads including no zips, disabled right click on pictures and no video downloads although it appears things have changed there now following a couple of negative reviews here.

You don't see it as much these days but you still see it now and then, especially on amateur sites.
The sites that did this would run a javascript that popped a copyright notice whenever you clicked the right mouse button. The intention was to prevent you from saving their pics or site graphics.

After reading Khan's explanation, I can't recall ever noticing that either.

It used to be a real PITA.

I've never seen this on a porno site but I've seen it on a couple of gay sex/dating sites to protect users from having their personal pics downloaded.

REPLY TO #5 - Khan :
I ran into 1 or 2 sites that did that (disabled all ability to save files with right click or other methods). No wonder they're rarer now! Who wants that?

I only noticed it on video sites where the video was downloadable but not the picture of what was on the video.

It was not uncommon in the earlier days of porn sites but as others have said, I suspect it created a financial disaster for the sites that used the tool.
I don't think I've seen it at all in the last few years.

Seen it a few times. Really pisses me off. When you do that I absolutely will download your whole site. If I were to ever share content with a friend, that would be first just for a little revenge. The more user friendly the site the more respect I give them.
