Being a pictues fan on sites like Met Art where i have a membership now and most similar sites i prefer to go for a decent mid size picture size around 2000px where that option is available to save on download time and hd space.

Sometimes it's too big because I just don't have enough time time to wait! (I need to do some "real life thing" with the computer which is going to involve a lot of system resources.)
Or maybe the RAM is getting clogged, and there's no point in turning my PC into a virtual "Mr. Creasote."
And sometimes I say, "Wow! Glad that's not the only size available! I'll take the next one down."

Frequently do. As a collector, I am not prepared to allocate a relatively large chunk of storage to what amounts to a single item.
Like tangub I go for the mid picture size, 1500pixels is fine for me.

Sometimes. On EvilAngel the sizes just got ridiculous with 4-5 gigabytes per scene so I opted for smaller resolution. DDFNetwork could also make them somewhat smaller. Then there are those party kind of sites but they have simply so long scenes that the file size is unavoidable even with better compression.

I don't really collect many photosets because I'm primarily a video guy. That said. I avoid all large video files because I can't afford to waste my allocated download cap on just a few videos. therefore I usually stick with middle of the ground resolution for most of my vieos.

Sometimes those vid-files are annoyingly large - at some sites - a size of 2,5 Gb - I hate those.
Typical:
In the crack
21. sextury
and others..
It takes too long to download even with a reasonable connection - AND mostly those gigantic vid-files are a hassle to work with - and takes up too much space.
A 2,5 Gb vid file normally gives problems to view - way too slow "fast forward" - for one.
And why - from those same sites I've downloaded the same scene in less than 1 Gb - typical 750 Mb - and the viewing quality is about the same, so....

If I am unsure if the content is worth the 45 minute to 2 hour DL, I will pause and let others DL that I am sure of. About 1/8 of everything I download is not good but the picture looked far better then the video was.

I think it's more a ratio thing. I think 21Sextury uses really good compression codec or whatever. Their scenes are regularly aroung one gigabyte at 1080p and very sharp, crisp and have good colors. Other sites at the same resolution and video length may have twice the file size but still not as good image quality.
Of course, if you have less than optimal lighting, camera and so on, you should compress more as there is not so much noticeable loss.

I don't have the best computer in the world (to put it lightly) so am fairly choosy about what I save. I either have problems accessing my external HDD, or have problems playing videos that are too large.
Normally anything over 500mb I will only download if it is totally unmissable.
I did have a problem with my ADSL which meant I couldn't even connect to my WD external drive. My computer's own hard drive soon filled up which meant I either had to delete stuff to save stuff or be very conservative with what I downloaded until my internet connection was fixed properly.

All the time, my ISP has instituted a "soft cap", so I try to avoid excessive downloads. Over 1GB gets annoying for storage as well.

Good poll question, yeah I do like a file size ideally at 600-800MB cause usually good quality enough and doesn't take so much space and time to download it. Some of them party scenes I agree are just too long and more than half is non nude so can be frustrating I tend to just download the sex scenes on them sites and leave out the non nude stuff.
I watch on a 32" tv and that said I mainly opt for the top file size of my fav girls as long as its not over 1.5GB unless its of a complete classic movie

i don't like large file sizes...a medium-sized file is big enough to see everything clearly...so it's pointless to download a gigantic file which takes up tons of HD space. medium to just-under-medium files are good for me. i prefer files to be about 500-600 MB...and a size of around 960x540 is good for me.

REPLY TO #12 - littlejoe :
littlejoe hit the nail on the head. Comcast became a real pain in the ass when it started with a 250 gig per month limit. I've found myself having to plan joining sites based on how much I've downloaded vs how much I think I'll be downloading. If I'm going after material that I know will take up a lot of drive space, I'll usually join towards the end of the month so the membership will span two months' allotment. But, in the end, I'll get whatever file I want.
I think back to the first file I grabbed that was over a gig and thought, "Wow! This is insane!". But that was when a 120 gig drive was considered big. Now I have files that are 3.5 gigs and more and don't think too much of it.

Yes. I often go with no more than a 1280x720 becasue of file size. Midrange HD is fine for me.

No file is too big. I have a 25 GB video. Many files are 2 GB or more. I typically go for the largest files because they usually represent the best quality. Only down side is that hard drive prices have sky rocketed since the flooding.

I agree with Andy, no file is too big. When I get 4K that will be a problem then.
