I know that in a few cases some models chose their names. That makes it a "sometimes" because I think the site chooses the names more often than not.

Put this poll up for one main reason: The - sometimes - totally confused search for certain models...(we've had threads on this item several times).
And - as we've had some inputs from webmasters earlier - stating that some models insists on choosing their alias/"stagename".
Other webmasters have told me in mails, that it's not the question. Some sites choose the "stagename" in order to get some exclusive names...
And if that's really the case....some sites, some webmasters really keep us in a black hole in our ongoing search!!!!!

I think a lot of them dont expect to do many scenes so dont care about the name. Its only when they get more well known do you see them sticking to the same name
|

I have no idea nor do I care but will only say that having multiple names is a pain. Someone should put out a cease & desist order.

I think you are dead on Jberry, its like renaming the Presidents name every every few months.
I miss out on a few models cause of this and obviously I can not join every existing site looking for them.

Some sites try to remain a certain audience by giving the models different names so they seem native to the country to which the site mostly caters.

The majority of US performers get to choose the name a site must use. There are exceptions but I find that it's normally with girls doing their first appearance in porn. We know That's not the same thing with Eastern European models because they almost always have multiple names.

Agree with jberry, i hate the multiple names. I dont care who chooses the name as long as its just one name and the model sticks with it.

There seems to be a greater likelihood of a European model having multiple names than an American one. That, or the model's name stops changing when there is broad name recognition. For example, Nollie became Lexi Belle, and no one is going to change her name now and risk the gravy train associated with her.

I think it's a combination of model and site - sometimes one chooses, sometimes the other. Agreed it can be confusing! But there are a couple of good sites around that help locate the aliases.

In the beginning the sites seem to rename as they please, at least in Europe. Once everyone knows them, they cannot do that anymore.

I have found that it varies, you get some who chose an alternate name, some who use a variation on their name, some who use their name as is and then there are those who have names asigned to them.
A good example that I can think of was Latexotica, as it had a mixture of all 4. There were girls who had names chosen for them but the majority either used their real first name or a variation of it.
