I don't like to pay too much for it because electrical goods become outdated so quickly these days. Been thinking about a new monitor recently but can't make up my mind whether to go for 22 or 24 inch.

As age results in a decline in clarity of short range eyesight, I find I do need them bigger.
This is because bigger is easier to see! ;0)
That said, sharpness, speed & colour are equally inportant considerations for me.

I haven't bought a new monitor in like 8 years, I just bought a laptop with an HDMI connection so I can hook it up to anything.

Big monitors are always better... luckily they are much cheaper than they used to be. I have a 22" 1920x1080 which can be had for not much more than £100.
Having said that, I'm looking forward to forthcoming high-res monitors, along the lines of what you see in the new iPad, which fits a 27" resolution into 10" - but I suspect at a price...

I'm thinking about buying a new laptop because the prices are so cheap. But I know Win8 is coming out soon, so I will wait until it's out.

The first thing I look for is size and qulaity then I look for the best deal possible. I've got a 22" monitor right now and that is 7" more than what I spent most of my youth looking at. I do sometime wish I had a bigger screen but that's mostly when I'm walking through an electronic store. Otherwise I'm quite happy about my screen.
I'd love to read the comments if anyone picked that anything above 20" is a waste but I don't think anyone will say that.

Favor a 3:4 format - got a 21" - want it bigger, but that's not easy to find for normal money. Tried a 22 1920x1080 - but no, so the wife got it.
Maybe I start looking for a 27" 1920x1080.
Yes, I like my monitors big.....

1 and 3 are the same, aren't they? I voted 3 as that is true but the amount of pixels is the biggest factor along color fidelity. I chose 27" over 30" because they had the same resolution and I didn't want to spend that much.

These days I wouldn't buy a monitor smaller than 24". I've owned two that size now and it really sucks when I have to use a computer with a smaller monitor as a lot of websites are expecting users to have large monitors. Of course gaming makes the need for a large monitor paramount as well.

I like my monitors big, but I remember when watching my first internet porn on a 12" CRT, I thought was amazing .
I guess as humans we want the next best thing . Even in porn.
I guess I like my hd 1080p 22" monitor, its nothing special and paid 179.00 for it. But was a step up from a 15 inch flat, so I was in heaven a few years ago. I would like clearer screens my is ok, but not spectacular colors and pixels. It takes the best HD hi-res to look spectacular on mine.
But being and old dog from back in the day when porn was pixels and ASCII pictures. I am thrilled at todays technologies even if today was 3 years old.

As long as they comfortably fit my peripheral vision, the size matters.
The bigger, the better.
It was'nt mentioned, but image and screen clarity is also paramount.

I'll probably get a bigger one eventually, but the image quality is just as important as the size, of course. Things have to look "real," you know. I did get a bigger one than the one I'd been using but I hated the way things looked on it, so I went back to the old one; the "new" one started life as a family heirloom.

As in so many things, quality is more important than size! I'd rather have a good quality smaller screen than a big cheap one.

I now hook up my 32 inch tv to watch porn on, it works a treat and I couldn't go back to my small 24 inch monitor to watch my porn anymore.
