My standard way of tagging scenes is by entering the name of the model(s), the type of scene it is, the studio/site name and finally the date. It can make for some pretty big file names but it's a lot easier to find a scene when I do a search.

In all truth I have folders I just dump content into and other folders that are set up by artist name - favorite artist mostly. I doubt I will ever cull through and organize the majority of clips I have.
One of the ways I organize clips is to edit them and then publish on DVD.
(Speaking of which, did you know that Windows 8 will NOT support DVDs? - $$$ add on if you want the capability).

Start out to collect by website name.
Favorites go by model name.
The rest by genre/niche for the time until deleted. Sort of.
Alright, it's controlled chaos. You caught me.

They're just doing this to cut the cost on the product. The license fees are outrageous sometimes.
Also, many people don't even have a DVD drive anymore. So why pay for more when you won't need it?
But, you're right, it's still a bit strange.

Wow, I don't even remember submitting this poll - must have been awhile ago.
Anywho, I organize generally by content provider (usually the parent company or network name rather than individual sites) and then label the files by the model's name followed by the site or movie's name and frequently a brief description of the content. Some model's supersede the content provider and get their own specific folder (e.g. Naomi Russell, Lily Thai, Rebecca Lord, et cetera.).
Ideally, I'd love to have a database of sorts that organizes everything, but I've been too lazy to put together such a thing.

For me, I have a folder for videos, and a folder for images.
Then it's by model name, although if it's a network, it's by network name and then sub-folders for each model.

Websites first, then by model name within the website folders.
If the model is on more than one website, I cross-reference them in the titles.

By website. Then, within that, if there is enough material that needs sorting, within broad themes - eg BG/GG/Solo etc. Seems to work...

I suppose my first answer to the question is S-L-O-W-L-Y, then by model name, so I've got Katie Jordin at KarupsPC (then various sets within that), etc. That's an example.
I wonder if it says anything insightful about user whether the collection gets organized this or that way? Or is it just "obsessive pervert with temp potential"?

Model name with sub folders under each model by website. If there are two girls I save, I duplicate the download. When a site provides a posting date I include that in the title.
On rare occasion I'll also save by a specific aspect that caught my interest.

I have most videos organized by :
1. niches, like solos, hardcore, lez etc.
2. by top models I like I will separate.
3. I have a 5 star system with fav 1 2 3 4 5. 1 being best and so on after if they do not make the top five system they go into models and none exist they go into niches
The hardest problem is models often have different names even starting with different letters. I wish I could set up an icon system by picture but with some 5000 movies why small by many on here is still nopt easy to search. We wont even talk about the 30,000 + pictures I have that are name only .

I'm expecting that someday we'll have a means to search by photo rather than just by name so we can deal with all the aliases created out there in pornsite-land.
Unfortunately I doubt that will happen in my lifetime.
One approach I've played with is a master Excel index page with a thumbnail photo of my favorites, a list of aliases and a hyperlink to my collection.
Problem 1: Lots of work; not much time.
Problem 2: I fill up my external drives so need to offload stuff to new drives.
Problem 3: There's so much new stuff these days that saving old stuff reminds me of that box full of VHS tapes that I haven't touched in at least a decade but can't bring myself to toss out.

By website, then by model name. But since models appear at different websites, and can have more than one name, it can be confusing.

Well, that said, one should just file that bit of info for future use when deciding what to equip their new computer with as far as R/W drive - but it seems to me that so much software is on CDs. Also ppl should be aware if they want to just upgrade their OS that that problem will exist. I'm just saying you know?

Usually by website then model name within the website folder. Don't need to worry about niche or type because virtually all my collection is solo photo content.

Just a folder for a network, subfolders for individual sites and so on.
