Sometimes I'm happy and I feel it's a beginning of a new and exciting chapter. Sometimes my gut feeling is that it's the beginning of the end. You kinda get a sixth sense as to when it's 'right' for a model to go hardcore.
Ann Angel, for example, has been gradually working up to HC, and now has her new site and for me it seems a logical progression. She's not gone from being sweeter than sweeter than to taking it in every hole (!), she's gone HC but is still teasing and having fun along the way.
Some models, though, you kinda get the impression it's the wrong step for them, they go through the motions just to keep fans happy, then stop updating their website and go AWOL.
I've never been someone who complains when models don't go HC. I have softer tastes but love harder models like Tia Ling so have nothing against harder stuff.
But if a model is comfortable just doing nudes, I think it can border on disrespectful to expect them to go to the next level, and think it's unfair to pressure them into going hardcore.
So in this respect, I'm generally happy for the model, although there's always a bit of reservation and I always hope that they're making the decision because it's what THEY want to do, rather than what the FANS want them to do.

Thrilled for me. I much prefer b/g hardcore scenes and usually only stumble on softcore-only models on 'art-core' sites. So when one that I like takes the plunge for out viewing pleasure I am definitely into that.
Maybe 2014 will be the year for Gloria from Skinny Super Girl. A man can dream!

When Jennifer Avalon, who refused to do any B/G, started into extremely graphic BJ's and Cunt Munching, I expected the B/G hardcore to be coming soon. It finally came, but rather late in her career, and yet I still felt a "tinge" of dismay.
Then along came Andie Valentino (Andrea on FTV) with her perfect body and munchable cunt who showed up on most of the softcore sites. For me, at the start, it's usually "iffy, with tinges of dismay," but with time I can be "thrilled" until the model starts messing up her looks with tats, piercings, fake tits, and plastic facial surgery. The final result: "Shocked and sad."
Fortunately, it's not always the case. Breanne Benson is a good example. I don't care for her back tat or the studs affixed to her arm and back, but she's still a great lay, obviously, and she seems to like that "belly down flat" fucking that turns me into Lon Chaney, Jr. during a full moon.
Another GREAT example of a GREAT porn star is Erica Fontes. I went from 'iffy" to "thrilled" in a hurry with her.

I tend to usually find out after the fact that a model was actually first a softcore model because I rarely keep up with softcore models. Of course if I found a softcore model and then saw her do hardcore stuff then that would add a lot more heat yo the scene because it would be a little more taboo.

For me it would depend on the type of hardcore. I generally prefer softcore but in the past year I've become fond of the artsy-type hardcore - Joymii, X Art etc, so if a model I liked were to appear in something like that, I'd be pleased. OTOH, I'd be a bit dismayed if they were to suddenly go from softcore to anal fisting or something :|

What matters to me is the emotional and creative parts of porn. Some softcore scenes are really dull and there are hardcore scenes that have better acting, teasing and the like. However, a lot of hardcore scenes don't give the female model enough of a role. They often devolve into dom - submissive or outright humiliation of the woman. Not that I like dom women either. I just like the models (directors, etc...) to remember that I am the paying customer. The woman should look at the camera and get me off. That usually works better in softcore.
