If you operated a porn site... I was just thinking. Let's say you decided to start up a porn site (and you had the capital to do so), what would you focus on? Your favorite niche or perhaps one that isn't your favorite, but more popular? | |

Business-wise, it makes sense to go for the most popular niches. But for personal satisfaction, you'd do better to work on something you enjoy. But then again, you really need to be a businessman to run a site for profit. And there are so many sites out there, I don't know how you would stand out from the competition. A lot of work. And a lot of negatives about working in porn. You would need a very thick skin. And drive. To make it a success. Capital is needed. But so much more besides cash is also needed. | |

Do both. No reason to not keep up the main stream in order to pay for an get exposure for the things you do like that are more of a niche. Perhaps some people have never seen X or Y before. This has always been a dream of mine to be honest and I have discussed it here back in 2011. My two ideas were these I'd like to see a couple of niche sites and would love to have the money to do them myself but heres hoping a rich porn businessman or woman read this and see about making the site , lol yeah I can dream. Idea number 1. A site with Girls in trainers or sneekers as I think they are known in America, they can either have knee length socks on as well or without and just the trainers. Everything else is completely nude, I have a fetish for these kind of pics but they are hard to find, wish there was a site that had them. There would be lots of public nudity with the girls walking all over street in groups or alone in just trainers. wow what bliss it would be. Idea 2 My idea would be a themed site of a fictitious island called Avidity Utopia and its an island just of women. There would be loads of history to the island, there's like these different tribes of women too. It could be awesome if it was done right. It would be lesbian of course and lots of softcore arty pictures too for picture lovers. There would be women of 18-58 so mix it up, lots of different races, a women haven for your eyes. Yeah the older woman could be a posh rich woman seducing young ladies and having her wicked way with them around her mansion. Loads of ideas for it. Could be like the new sapphic erotica only set on a island and I'd have them women talking in their native language if they don't speak English. Yeah I do have a mischievousness mind I know.  I've since then discovered two more niches that I would love to see a site about. One would be dancing, cute amateur women dancing and doing stripping but nothing like a stripclub, just dressed normal attire and not caked in makeup. I've seen some of FTV Girls and Lightspeed I still remember the Jordan Capri striptease video and I was simply amazes at how hot these type of videos can be, so shocked that no site isn't cleaning up with making vids like this, maybe its just me that likes it lol. As a porn site operator, you have to love your niche(s). Customers will work out very quickly if you're not as into it as they are and it will diminish the experience for them. I think the art is to find something you love that lots of other people do too. Our literary erotica site is primarily my wife's project, and it is a mix of what she likes and what is popular. She loves erotic fiction, which is why we do it in the first place. However, she puts out more releases in the highest selling niches because customers demand it. In literary erotica, the audience is more female than male, and the top selling categories are pseudo-incest and cukcold. Those get more male sales too though. If I were to run my own site... oh where to begin. It will be all about pee fetish porn the way I want to see it and any money made would be a bonus to offset expenses. I would love to push the production value and artistic qualities of pee fetish porn to the next level. The goal would be to make every scene memorable. Beautiful settings, deliberate and artful lighting, a variety of women of all ethnicity and from amateur to pro, and fine art quality photography. Each scene would start out as that beautiful scene that so many here at PU crave of a woman slowly stripping down from fine garments with a focus on each body part as she goes. Then, it would end by showing a woman peeing not as something dirty, but as something incredibly beautiful. I have a number of photographic tricks that I have experimented with to show women peeing like never before, but I would rather show you the photos some day than tell you all my secrets. Sadly, following the popular mainstream has become the norm in everything in life these days. Porn has shown over the last decade how the following mentality works or I should say doesn't work, but following is still the strategy of 90% or more sites. I would go for something rather unique. I think the sexiest things I've seen in porn are solo scenes. It takes a special model to pull these off. I won't even mention Eve Angel in this, but models like Aaliyah Love, Brooke Skye, Lana Lopez, models who could entertain you without the need for a plot or director directing them have always been my favorites. Back to not mentioning Eve Angel, some of the best moments of her solo scenes were focused on her eyes and facial expressions. That part of the site would be my wants in a porn site. The only theme to any of the scenes would be fully dressed at the beginning, strip, full underwear, strip, 10-15 photos in clothes, 10-15 in underwear, then nude, 15-20 nude and ending in masturbation. From there I would enter into a more open-minded world than my porn brain usually goes to and would have a solo male section and a solo transsexual section. I would try to focus on these three genders and try to get 8-15 regulars from each gender. From there, I would consider going into other genres with just my regular models. Like having one of the women with one of the men, wouldn't even have to be for sex, could be masturbating while watching each other. Of course, most of this would be impossible unless I had enough money to sit on and wait for this somewhat different brand of porn to build a following. But I still couldn't turn to the mainstream. For me it would be scenario driven porn with established characters that interact with each other in a story line played out over many weeks with maybe 1-2 updates per week. The scenes would be a minimum of 45 minutes to 75 minutes long with the sex portion being about 35 minutes. The sex would be similar to what Tushy, Blacked and some of the other the artcore sites produce. Ideally there would be mix of b/g and g/g with anal being a common theme. I wouldn't necessarily be opposed to the odd b/b/g or g/g/g scene but these would be the exception rather than the norm. Spitting, slapping and chocking would not appear in the sex part of the scene but the last two might make an appearance in the non-sex part of the scene if the story called for it. What I'm basically trying to say is that I'd like to see is something similar to mainstream soap operas but where the characters have midcore to hardcore graphic sex with each other. I would combine my love for tease sites with the popularity of cam shows. I would have a site where college-age cam girls campaigned to have the members vote for them to be the next update on the site - the winner got the gig, the cam-girls made money giving group and private shows while they campaigned. So you've have the fun and excitement of the week-long competition with a winner every week, lots of cam-shows available all the time plus the ability to pay more for more explicit group and private shows, plus regular updates featuring the most popular cam girls. | |

It is rather obvious that getting a foot into the main stream scene is pretty hard, because you'd have to compete with all the well established porn empires that are around for years. Starting with a limited ammount of content, reduced prices, an unpredictable break even point, lots of threats to deal with (piracy etc), all this makes such a decision pretty delicate. If you really want to have a chance, you would have to find niches and features that make your site unique or at least standing out of the rest. Some options spring to mind. Interactive users Some sites already do this to an extend. Cherrypimps during their live shows, Lelulove with her user scripted videos. Still, I think that this idea has not yet reached the end of the road. Storylines, where each episode is scripted by a fan, direct input during the shooting session, live action with the users being in charge, direkt communication with the model.. all this kind of stuff would be worth thinking about. Sure, it comes with a number of problems, but hey, it's a business. Advanced technology Naughtyamerica is starting to jump on the virtual reality train already. No other site (to my knowledge) does that. Oculus Rift and the offsprings of VR have not yet fully reached the digital world, but they are definitely coming. As soon as video games market has adopted the new technology, porn will be the next step. Quality! The most important thing today is the quality of your product. This is 2016, we are living in the age of 4k monitors and high speed internet connections. There is no excuse for delivering sub par quality these days, be it bad lighting, bad equipment, sloppy encoding or whatever. It increases the initial investment, but it pays off later. | |
