I have never been a fan of Playboy for the women -- too much smoke, and not enough fire. I have to give the editors and writers credit for making a magazine that has naked women in it (well, usually partially naked at least) but I still prefer the articles!
Tastes change, and therefore arousal does as well.
For me, it isn't necessarily dependent on the format -- photo, video, or whatever -- but really the eroticism. And it's not desensitization, but a change in the eroticization of one thing over another. For example, I used to like hardcore content more than softer, solo girl stuff, but now it's the opposite. I was never desensitized, just re-sensitized to something different, and I can only guess what the future holds (hopefully fewer anti-porn laws?).
Of course, sometimes it is the format, and I simply like seeing certain things certain ways. Though I don't like hardcore as much as I used to, I would prefer to see it in video, instead of in a photo shoot. But I prefer solo, and sometimes girl-girl content, in photos more than video. A hot girl (or two) can really shine in a well shot photo set, but can come off like a real bitch or a real bore in a video.
PU first and foremost, then TBP for any extra fact-checking, plus their preview pages (and if they don't have any, I usually don't join). If I am lucky enough to get a recommendation in person from a friend or someone I know, than that's even better, but it's rare.
Granted, I frequently skip towards the end of photo galleries so the girl starts nude, but I usually don't go back to the clothed shots. The whole idea of "reverse strip" defeats the purpose of porn. I am not too fond of stripping to begin with, so ending with the model getting dressed would really ruin it for me.
No, and I don't mind either. Yeah, I'm spoiled by all the HD available (usually coupled with a terrible soundtrack of some sort), and I haven't even seen an actual porn film, at least not in a theater, only as they look after transfer to a DVD or uploaded to the web.
And thanks to "8mm" I really don't want to see any actual film footage...
Thank you. I think you already know the answer to your question; you asked me about them just the other day concerning their content. Maybe its my favorite site because it was my first...whatever the reason, I still love it.
Overall I would say "better than it used to be," thanks to numerous improvements in technology over the past twelve years since my first join (thank you high definition!), plus lots more content, models, ideas, etc.
Of course, there are a few problems:
First, the site has either gone softer or harder since your first subscription. You could blame this on the need to stay in business (see below), but if you join a site and love its content, your feelings could be hurt when they trash it up or bring it up from the gutter. Sticking with a proven formula seems to be a big challenge for too many sites there.
Second, it has gone on to porn site heaven (which probably exists deep within badandy400's hard drives), and will probably never be heard from again. I understand saving the American auto industry is important to some people, but who cares when our favorite sites die? Where's their bailout? I am not sure what would be worse here though; a site stops producing new content due to economic reasons, or radically changes its content to stay in business.
Third, and in my view the most important, you just can't replace that first paysite. It is like your first car, or first kiss, spanking (giving or receiving), girlfriend/boyfriend, sexual experience, spouse, etc. This also applies to the first time you join any new site you quickly learn to love; every subsequent subscription, no matter how great, will never feel the same as the first.
Great poll question! Brings up some of the few positive memories I have of the '90s.
Yeah, this has happened to me as well, or it took way too long to get them back. I have lost a couple of great DVDs this way (moment of silence, please).
That's a good point, though I would say that the set of a film does not count as society -- at least as I read it in the poll question -- plus, it would be hypocritical for them to look down on her simply because she does most of her fucking on camera. The entertainment industry is pretty open-minded; I mean, as long as you don't murder anybody, you can still enjoy success and a measure of respect.
Me personally, I don't care what anybody does, just so long as they do not think they are somehow really better than anyone else.
I can't think of any porn stars that have good role models or done something positive, but I guess it depends on how you define it. I would say that few others, at least those with any amount of fame or wealth, have really done anything positive, or even acted as good role models.
Of course I am pretty cynical, and I think we are all just a bunch of animals, so the idea that somebody is really that good or positive is just nonsense to me.
Yeah, 'Papa Bear' Bill is unprofessional, and quite rude to many of his guests. I do not count myself as a fan of Jenna (just read the replies to our previous poll), but the fact that her answers were so far from what he wanted to hear was entertaining to watch. Maybe he was just pissed off at her for being a successful woman?
When I said "Some of my favorite models over the years never seem to have gotten it all right," I meant that it was a combination of the star and the industry. I think a lot, maybe the majority, of girls who enter porn do so with only short term goals in mind. Maybe a year of two, not the decade and a half Jenna has been going at it, though I doubt even she knew she was going to last as long as she has.
Even if a girl is knock down, drag out popular, if she does not have the intent to stay in the business, then the industry will in turn not work to make her a superstar. If there is a profitable fan base, they might try and convince her to stay at least as long as she can make money.
I will chalk up part of my theory, and the fact that my favorite models have short careers, to the fact that I personally steer away from the mainstream, and to me, awards represent nothing but the mainstream, so they will always be meaningless to me. I hate most mainstream porn, and all the "superstars" and awards that come with it, so generally speaking, if I like a certain model, it is partly due to her not being a star.
And as far as Jenna Jameson is concerned, she is blond and beautiful, and seems to have rightfully earned her fan base and the unique level of popularity only she can enjoy. To me, she has outsmarted and outfoxed the system, and as a result controls her career, without even performing in front of a camera anymore. But I will also blame her for every breast implant surgery and blond Barbie doll look that so many young models have gone for.
I am going to have disagree with you here, particularly your statement about the fans:
"...not only are they the ones who buy and know quality after seeing so much stuff, they definitly dictate rising stars careers and how long their career are. The demand from fans from certain stars is what keeps the business going. It's obvious the industry can get some average looking amateurs and make a film with plenty of audience willing to watch it but when it comes to the superstars of the industry; it's all about the fans."
I think it is the industry, not the fans, that ultimately decides who makes it and how much they make, as well as the stars in question. The companies write and offer the contracts, the girls sign them and, hopefully, fulfill them (some of these models have gotten huge contracts quite early on, and I just can't imagine any of them saying “no, thank you”).
Yes, we the fans dictate their popularity, but I think a lot of it has to do with how someone is presented and marketed. This is going to sound cruel and cold, but in porn the girl is the product, and therefore she has to sell herself, and I do not mean just her body, but her personality, her act -- the whole package. Some of my favorite models over the years never seem to have gotten it all right, no matter how obviously hot, or just generally appealing, they were -- and most of them are gone.
Personally, I am not a fan of the biggest names in porn; I just don't see the appeal (why exactly is Jenna Jameson the biggest name in porn?), and my preference is usually for the unknowns to the almost amateurs. Nothing I hate more than to see a girl I love plastered all over a dozen sites doing virtually the same thing, or appearing in scores of DVDs repeating the same set of acts. To me, there is something special about a more restrained girl who you have to seek out to find her work; then the catch is that much more fun. :)
Interesting point, though I would not go so far as to say that by subscribing we are "helping financially to ruin someone else's future." I think the majority of us here prefer sites that are more than just video and photos submitted by amateurs, as the poll asks. Plus, all these amateurs have made that first step that most of those replying here have said they would not do; that is, actually submitting them in the first place.
Aside from the various celebrity sex tapes, which are released without the person's consent, the normal amateur stuff we drool over is done by people who agree to have the material released, and are probably at least somewhat aware that it will "forever be on the net," as Wittyguy put it. No, I don't think all these girls are really thinking of the long term consequences, or at least existence, of their work, but they do it anyway.
I think the bigger question is why do we put so much weight on something like nude modeling or porn work in someone's past? If you look at from the perspective that it was a way for someone to legally earn money, then what exactly is the problem? "I saw her nude online, so I can't trust her around the office anymore." It's bullshit, and very likely legally unsound as wll, but of course it happens anyway and people continue to just think from their guts instead of their heads.
I can't say I like coffee, but sex on the other hand...
Of course, porn and coffee (such as Starbucks) always seem to be doing good business, so I think people get over any initial bad tastes rather quickly.
By the way, where's the choice for tried it and enjoyed it, but am now single, so not currently doing it?
I say hand over with lots of blushing, but I am not sure what I would really do. Would anyone ever share with a parent? Say, a father-son bonding experience, like learning to shave, drive a car, use a download manager?
Generally no, but it's not "ordinary-looking" that is the problem, but "less creative." Hot looks don't guarantee hot sex, or anything else for that matter. Many of my favorite porn stars are not my favorites simply because of looks, but more of their onscreen personalities and open-mindedness.
It's not just the women, but many other elements of porn that are far from reality. The men, for example, are (often) in better shape than I am, with lots more tattoos and piercings, plus they act in a lot of ways that I could not see myself repeating.
If you go in with no extreme expectations -- that is, total slut or total prude -- you may be pleasantly surprised.
I always thought fluffers were pretty much nonexistent, especially today with the advent of Viagra, and I think they would fall more in the general category of the body fluid cleanup crew. It seems like most hardcore movies they tend to make quite a mess, so they have to have people to decontaminate the set afterward.
As enticing as fluffer sounds, I'd have to say director. I am sure it is a lot more frustration than fun, unless you are lucky and everything goes right and everyone is happy, but it would still be interesting to try.
I would actually love to edit porn movies, that way I could see all the raw footage and finally cut out all that extra shit they leave in that adds nothing to the videos we see.
I would say musicians, but that's probably because I can't stand mainstream music, so to me all my favorite artists do not get enough recognition, or even enough money, especially when compared to most of those we like to consider "great."
Too many from the first five choices get weird crossover appeal that I hate. Actors and porn stars who think they are politicians; musicians gloating over their fleets of luxury cars and decadent homes; sports stars with their own clothing lines; and reality stars...well, their recognition is what is wrong with them.
I think I should have picked "Other" for none of the above, since I am only starting to rant on this one.
I am not a fan of seafood, and that's an understatement, but to each his own, especially if you thought the flavor was nice. : )
It only stands to reason that what we put into our bodies influences what comes out, right? All the times we (guys) have waxed endlessly, if never eloquently, about the diet-to-flavor relationship we have heard at least a little truth, just how much truth is anyone's guess.
The first three choices don't sound too appetizing for a flavor you might taste on a partner's most sought after parts. Chocolate sounds kind of good, but is probably too sweetened and processed to have much benefit. For me, fruits and vegetables are the only ones that naturally have a palatable flavor, or even smell, to them. Plus, with all the botanical flavors and scents added to many of the hygiene products that women buy, they must like them anyways.
I understand 4000 px is huge today...but in the future it could simply be standard, even if the displays really don't get any bigger. I am talking more from a collector's point of view, so I want my smut to age like a fine wine, except you get to drink it over and over again for as long as you have it!
As I said in my original reply, I remember a time when 800 x 600 was big, screen-filling beauty, but now it simply is not. I still have the majority of my '90s photos, they just have not withstood the test of time in terms of size as much as I would like them have to.
I sometimes get greedy about photo and monitor sizes -- especially when someone uses the term beast to describe either one -- so I can't wait for the day that a standard display will practically support 4000 px photos, I just may have to put some of my oldest photos out to pasture.
