A vast selection of movies in various resolutions and formats.
All the regular porn stars and some fresh faces from various sources.
Decent ethnic categories.
Easy to navigate categories.
Good bookmarking system that actually works.

For sheer volume this site wins hands down.
A great selection of known porn babes and unknowns that can be very refreshing and affords variety.
Quality needs to be updated to comply with today's standards and easier bandwidths.
More niche content would be wonderful.
Price is a non arguable topic.
This site could really be the king of all pron sites if it would up it's quality, have more detailed niche content and maybe some exclusivity.
I, for one, would be happy to pay the extra premium to attain the above. |

- Most likely the internet's biggest site, as of 4-28-09 has 6,235 DVDs, should eclipse 35,000 scenes later today.
- Recent additions of new studios has improved their model coverage, with dozens of videos from European studios.
- Quality, though varying, on DVD quality files is well above average
- Five full DVDs per day
- 10 month membership for DVD quality for $99
- Though there are search engine problems, they do allow studio search, which usually is good enough for me to find what I like.
- Covers most fetishes at least to some degree, have a breakdown in the BL |

- Those new premium channels have already pissed me off. One of my favorite "classic" actresses is Taylor Hayes, I did a search for her to find to my surprise 18 scenes of the lovely, leggy goddess, clicked her name to start downloading only to find out ALL 18 scenes were on the Vivid premium channel. That is how you piss a customer off.
- No matter how hard I try, I will never be able to get all the content from here that I want because the search engine does have problems and will give example in BL. |

Videobox to me is at the point where everyone wants to be, but once they get there they realize there is only one way to go and that is down.
They do everything they promise, 5 new DVDs per day, very good quality, I've seen videos from here with bitrates as high as 5,000 and resolution as high as 720.
While talking to a friend about porn, I mentioned the deal you get when you join videobox and I think it was pretty well taken. Imagine going to a store, maybe a video store and they hand you a box with 150 porn DVDs in it and say you can have it for $15. I really don't know many guys that would pass that up, and that is what you get with a videobox subscription. A total of 150 new DVDs per month for $15, and you throw in the oh by the way, you also get access to 6,200 other DVDs too.
If I was a strictly video lover, this would be the only site I would need to join to get those. It is kind of like having an adult video store in your computer.
My one major complaint is the search engine. A good example will use my favorite porn model Eve Angel. Eve rarely appears on DVDs and most are from early in her career, but here are my search results for her on videobox.
Eve Angel search shows 10 scenes.
Actual Eve Angel scenes out of those 10 results was FIVE.
So there was five search results that were not Eve Angel. Now lets add to this, Eve, earlier in her career went by the name Severine, and on a very rare occasion as Seurine. There probably are plenty of fans out there who do not know that she went by those names since many didn't know she did hardcore scenes early in her career under a different name. So, I search the most common spelling as Severine, and get 0 results. I search the rare spelling of Seurine and get 2 results, and both are Eve Angel.
All of her videos on videobox that are hardcore have 5 stars, it would look like to me that someone on their site would at least take the time to move those 2 rare ones under her Eve Angel name, other sites have that have those clips, so VB should as well.
Fetishes and new studios they have added. The great work of Viv Thomas and Private studios now have a combined 113 DVDs on the site now, these are almost exclusively European actresses and that means around 550 new(er) Euro scenes.
Fetish content adds 75 BDSM DVDs, 30 Handjob DVDs, 69 Tranny DVDs, 20 Older (GILF) DVDs, 40 Femdom DVDs and 228 non-specific Fetish DVDs.
I just think VB has set the bar so high that they open themselves to criticism that other sites won't face. My main point in my bottom line is that a 94 might be too low, they do everything they say and with the addition of the varied studios are getting some rare DVDs that are even hard to buy from the actual studios.
If that search engine was better, not so much the engine itself, just the naming of models, this site would probably receive a 4-5 point raise from me and if they didn't tease me with those premium channels, I would probably go 100. Highly recommended! |

Almost all is said.
With a such massive amount of DVDs it's hard to don't find your happiness especially if you like the mainstream american porn.
But precisely, while there is a fair number of niches, "gonzo" and "all sex" categories are pervasive. And who still know what "gonzo" style means ?
Besides the DVD resolution doesn't reflect exactly the real quality of a DVD. |

No prechecked sales or other bull. WYSIWYG, you know what your getting into before hand. Could have more content in the more obscure categories, so this site can be closer to the be-all-end-all.
Two suggestions for potential subscribers:
1. Go for the $14.95, 640x480 vids. Unless you can tolerate lesser resolution videos.
2. When your browsing the site beforehand, make sure you note if the video/scene your interested in is a "VIVID" or "EVIL ANGEL" premium channel. Those channels cost extra, big time. So unless you want to dole out the money for that, you'll be disappointed when a video you thought you were gonna get turns out to be "locked" in those premium upgrades.
Probably temporary, but they are offering a $1.00 3-Day Trial to Pornstar Network (which is Brain Pass: meaning Christine Young, Silverstone, Peternorth Club, Doghouse Digital). -The tagging of some scenes is incorrect and can lead to improper finds when looking for certain fetishes.
-Although I like the option the possibility to upgrade to both Evil Angel and Vivid's movie page. I consider that only EA's is currently worth the price since many of the movies are recent and a cost 17.95$ for the upgrade. Ot is still much less than actually buying one of the movies on DVD. |

Videobox is the leader in download porn movie sites. Not only for the shear quantity, but also for the quality of the content. I know that some others are on the rise but they still have far to go before they reach the master.
I know that some have found the cost for the 2 new studios to be high. I do not because I own
one of the movie currently on that section and I paid more than the cost of the upgrade. I don't know if anyone else is aware of this, but EA dvd's are usually 5 to 10$ more than most other studios.
I agree that 17.95$ for Vivid's is too high. In great part because I prefer the older Vivid stuff to the newer one and that is most if the
current content.
I hope that they pay better attention to the tagging of scenes because I have found a couple of errors. Although a slight annoyand now. It will be a significant problem if they keep adding content atr the speed they are now.
I would love for them to add older content that is difficult or impossible to find. I would gladly pay twice as much for acces to material from the 70's and 80's.
I would like to see more studios added to their library, and I wouldn't mind the removal of some of those that I consider of low quality.
I wish I had joined this site a couple of years ago. I would have saved a lot of money that I wasted on streaming sites or in bying dvd's. |

- Has a member review section for each video and for each scene
- The vast majority of the scenes have a cast list that is interactive so a member can generate a list of all offerings with a particular porn star.

-Excellent blog was added with substantial involvement of the site's management that really adds a lot to the members' enjoyment of the site.

- No "real" HD (but some high bit-rate stuff obviates the absence of HD)
- Added two major sources (Evil Angel and Vivid) accessible only at substantial additional cost.
- Comments have deteriorated into wise guy comments about the screencaps so they are of little real value.
- Significant deterioration in the accuracy of the model identification which creates a serious problem using the search engine.
- More "Bargain Bin" compilation videos that contain scenes that have already been posted earlier on the site. |

This site exceeds all possible comparisons to other sites and is a bargain. The occasional obscure weird vids (midgets, hirsute Japanese, trannie) pop up once in a while but so what? The member review section is new and the members haven't figured out what a "review" is because most postings are more like a chat room than an evaluative discussion of the scene or the video.
Great site, great deal. Go for it!
UPDATE (4/2/09) Bottom Line:
The site continues to have the largest number of videos of any site (over 6,000 at this writing) and add 5 per day which is 1,865 new videos per year.
That may be a contributing factor to the deterioration in model identification. The sloppiness in model identification has really made the site a lot less desirable for me because I see the searchability of a site to be very important.
The introduction of Vivid and Evil Angel productions were added with a lot of fanfare but they hit a serious sour note with many when they belatedly added the rather high supplemental charge to access the videos from these studios.
As mentioned in the "Pro" section, the blog is an excellent interactive forum. Management of the site gets into a lot of substantial discussion with the members which is very good.
I reduced my original score from 97 to 90 for two major reasons.
- The significant increase in the sloppiness in model identification is a major annoyance that hurts the site's value.
- The lack of thought given to the roll-out of the two premium studios. (Had they announced the move along with the cost associated at the outset, the reception would have been a lot better.) In my opinion, the roll-out also took their attention away from their number one mission, and that is their primary offerings.
Once again, photo enthusiasts need not apply. There are none. |

New channels are confusing and not adequetly explained for billing purposes. I was automatically billed to my credit card, without intending to subscribe to channels. I still nevr figured out if extra channels are by the day or by the month. When doing a search now thee is extra parameters to filter out unwanted channels. |

there are three things set this site apart from all others :
-the custom clip option that allows you to download only what you want to see without clogging up your hard drive
- user reviews with each scene. this feature is enjoyable by itself. of course these would be much better if folks would take it more seriously.
- the site will recommend scenes based on what you've looked at and bring up thumbs of related scenes on the page of the scene you are looking at. this makes it much easier to find what you like. |

I wasn't aware that VideoBox existed a year ago when I came across Porn Users. At that time, I believe it was the top 1 site among PUs but its popularity has recently been dwindling. This is the only DVD site I've ever joined but I believe they do lots of things right. Every PU should join VideoBox at least once.
I've got basically one con: VideoBox metadata is crappy. Google wouldn't be so successful if they indexed the whole Internet but you could only enter a limited set of keywords to find documents or if they left out half the words when indexing. VideoBox should be looking into this because some competitors have also realized that VideoBox metadata and search engine is its weakest asset.
Despite this fact, VideoBox was close to a dream come true for me. During the last couple weeks I decided to look for scenes where the model kept the panties on until the end. Unfortunately, Fetish was the only somewhat useful keyword among the 40 categories. Panties or Clothes keywords would certainly have been welcome because Fetish gave me lots of BDSM which wasn't exactly what I was looking for.
I was forced to browse through the whole collection picking titles here and there that looked promising and using the 6 thumbnails or the streaming option to see if a scene fit the profile. Jumping to other DVDs in the series was easy but director info would have for sure been useful. I eventually came across Intense Industries studio which had lots of them.
I'm no longer a member but still visit VideoBox on a weekly basis. Their free tour works almost exactly like the members area except for the video download and streaming options. I just browse the recent DVDs in my still ongoing quest. Sooner or later, I'll join back. |
