Voted for: I need to organise.
I used to organise as I download, but my piece of crap Western Digital drive seems to lock up and freeze most of the time, so at the moment recent stuff is in my downloads folder.

I DL to a holding area that's organised by DL site, then when I get to properly review them, I get rid of what I don't want and the keepers are moved onto a separate disk

I should have voted that I put them into a download holding area, but their stay in that folder is very short lived. I transfer them almost immediately to one of my external hard drives where I have things organized either by site or by a specific subject that interests me.
P.S. Come to think of it my vote for "organize as I download" doesn't exactly fit the bill either, so back to "download holding area!" :-)

DL to holding folder, then preview the clip and usually move it to the end folder, but sometimes I get lazy & leave it there spending hours sorting thru them all when space gets low. :(

I organize by model name and simultaneously create a subdirectory for the source on my C drive. That makes it easy to find and move stuff to my various external hard drives later.

I do almost exactly what messmer said. My holding area is also organised by model within site. When I have between 4GB and 10GB for a site, that chunk gets moved off to an external drive. My external drives are organised by model within chunk within site. I have a script that I run to generate searchable indexes. My collection is almost entirely photos.

I know we've had some laughs over the years about my tidiness. I remember badandy making me cringe talking about his collection of "new folder" folders. My recent problem is that I got a new PC. For some reason, several sites have something in their script that will not let me left-click/one-click to download a file to a specified folder. This only happens in Firefox. I have even found plugins and addons that are supposed to fix it, but they don't.
Over the last month or so, I have been using Chrome for downloading since it doesn't have the problem. I just create a site folder, folders for each model I want to download, then go through "save all downloads to" specify the model, download everything that model has on the site I'm on.

Always do basic organisation as I download, as that way I have the titles, site it was from, model names etc. right there and can't go wrong.
Nothing too complex, I tend to just do a different folder for each website and then it's in alphabetical order automatically inside that.
It's easy just to open up the folder I want the download to be in as I'm doing it - far better than trying to make sense of it later, and the title I pick for each file will make the most sense as I'm looking at the site there and then.
Odd I'm quite organized with porn - I'm not organized with most other things!

Download to holding folder in external drive. Evaluate and toss or keep except for dud pics. Then move to folder for model. I always organize by models. And there are thousands of them.
I'm lazier with the videos. Will probably die having never viewed half of them.

I try to organize, but sometimes I forget or am just lazy and it goes where it goes - which can be quite a pain to clean up later.

I hate doing it cause sometimes you don't have time but in the end I hated even more having loads of vids to open and see what the action and who is in it, so now I more choosy on what I download from a site and label it then and there.

I download in a staging area where then it is moved in tow sections with subsections. Models names and niches if I don't have names. Then I have 6 subs that contain my favorites. I also have a review section these are ones at a glance need tending to :-) .
Then from there I have quick access depending hat I am looking for. Sorting photos is a whole other issue I am just now learning to do.

Have you tried resetting the download folder entries in about:config ?
Site rules, I believe, forbid entering a link to the url of the entry in the mozillazine kb.
However, a google on "unable to save or download files" brings it up as the first result.

I like to organize my stuff by site name and occasionally by intensity of action (Like I add a DP or Anal or Soft to the end of the scenename) That way between searching a folder and the actual folder organization I can easily find stuff.
It also helps when sites name their videos something other than I001.

Put it into a generic new stuff holding folder - will peruse/enjoy it there, throw out anything I don't want to keep - then file it by site within a week or so.

Thanks for this, I know how to do about.config on Firefox, but hadn't even thought about that. I will give it a try.
The problem seems to just be on .wmv video files. It picks up .rar or .zip files fine and also .mp4 files. When I download a .wmv file, the dialog box has a tick box for "Do this always for this type of file", but it's inactive on the .wmv files so you can't check it. I may try installing an older version of Firefox and see if that changes it. Thanks again.

It will be interesting to know if either about:config or an older FF version works. There is also a mozillazine kb entry that says the problem of the inactivated checkbox is due to faulty assignment of the filetype on the website's server. Though that does not explain why it is only a problem for Firefox!
Whenever that has happened to me, merely restarting my PC got around it so I guess there can be several different causes.

From organized to very organized. My old stuff is seperated into folders and all file names include at least the scene title and the actors. A year ago I changed the way how to view my general media and porn, I set up a NAS for my classic media and a NAS for porn. Everything new I download gets metatagged with as many information about that scene I can find, like name, release date, description, tags, actors, cover, etc. I'm still working on tagging everything, but it will still take a while, there's too much new stuff coming!
