20 TB ! Wow, I thought I had collected a bunch and I'm just under one TB. I may have to go buy another external disk drive, but then I would have to organize my collection, and that would seem too much like work.

"I think VOD sites are like the crack cocaine of online porn."
If VOD is the crack cocaine, I sudder to think what that makes cam sites? :)

" If there is a niche left unfilled, then someone will likely step up to exploit it." Hey RA - is filling a niche the same thing as exploiting the niche? (see J.Sin fill/exploit the anus extrusions in some of his movies)

Interesting ideas, although I doubt many sites would want to post the full hundreds of photos taken in a shoot, it would be nice if they posted a bit more. I always get the same feeling with X-Art, they post so few photos for one set, it leaves you wondering if their photographer is just terrible and they had to delete a crap load of them.
With regard to the poll question, personally I can't stand bad lighting, although I agree that all of the above is appropriate.

Remember, "repression leads to obsession."
I blame our (the U.S.', anyway) history of religiosity for the reason society has become so hyper-sexualized, and one of the reasons porn has become as popular and accessible as it has.
To me the modern porn boom is one of the results of a culture's repressed and unhealthy view of sex and sexuality, not the cause of it, as the moral authoritarians would have us believe. The anti-porn crowd is really at its base anti-sex, and blames all of our modern ills on the sexual permissiveness that permeates our daily lives. This includes everything out there--from what people can find on the web, to the ads shown on TV, to all those unmarried women who choose to use birth control (the horror!).
It is still stigmatized in a way--just try staying in political office and see what happens when you begin making your own--but there's really no serious social backlash in most modern parts of the world, even in the more puritanical parts of the U.S. The forbidden fruit has long been out of the bag (if it ever was in there to begin with) and everyone's taking a bite. ;-)

I think what rearadmiral said makes sense and is probably true: there is a disconnect between what people say in public and what they do in private.

Even though Dave Mustaine used to write kick ass songs, unless it's actually in the lyrics to the songs, I think rock singers should not really tell us all about their opinions unless we ask for them or it is Bob Geldof telling us about starvation for which he is forgiven.

You are right, rearadmiral, to make a distinction between Kink.com material and that found at "Facial Abuse," as one example. If the genre is BDSM and fills the needs of both parties then I don't see anything wrong with it either.

I know that I'm far more turned on when I discover a performer doing stuff that I didn't think she did. That's why it would be great if there was a site where they took a newbie who they groomed over many months and where they started her doing simple softcore stuff and then built on that by adding more hardcore stuff.

I agree that someone that only watches softcore porn is unlikely to be interested in anything that is above midcore and even that may be too hard for them. I don't know if you agree with me but guys like you and me that watch hardcore porn can be interested in softcore porn because there is always the chance that you'll see that model in HC stuff later on and even if you don't then there is still something to enjoy with something less intense than HC porn.

A better tour wouldn't help because their kind of porn is so close to what FA does that I wouldn't enjoy it. I'll add that I'm just as happy when people avoid a site based on my review in the same way that I'm ahppy if they join it. I think I'm even happier when they avoide a site that got a bad rating. It makes me feel good to know that I helped destroy a site that was robbing customers with their bad porn.

I may have misinterpreted your description of some of their content but you said that it could make Max Hardcore and the guys at Facial Abuse cringe so I just assumed that they are way too extreme for my taste. Painfull anal and ATM is hard for me to watch. These guys claim to have dirty ATM and that falls under the unwatchable. My view on dirty atm is that it's a dofter version of scat porn and that's all. Another problem is that the preview section that I checked out all had scenes that are a couple of years old.

I do the same thing as you when it comes to other members encounter with webmasters. If they had a bad one then why should I bother in joining his sites. It's not like I'm going to have a better one.
I thought your recent experience with sinnistar was a very good one. I felt bitter sweet about your review of the site because it has been on my radar for a long time but they have a horrible preview section that I've never felt comfortable with buying a membership. of course now that i know that their content is as bad if not worse than facial abuse then I'm not sad that I didn't join. I would have been very disapointed.

Great post, rearadmiral; it's one of the best I've read here. Things really have changed since the advent of cable TV and the fragmentation of American society as seen in the change from a handful of competing major networks to multiple channels of preachers to their respective choirs. 30 years ago marks it well enough, after which came the "Moral Majority" and the congressional hearings on record labeling (back when vinyl was not quite off the scene) -- marking the rise of the Soccer Mom.
I've seen the horror of soccer moms first hand, and of course there are YouTube videos of them for all to see. A barracuda would not attack one -- perhaps not out of fear, but out of professional courtesy.

I really do not know much about the man - read a couple of news stories and saw that movie..
Even if an asshole (it certainly looks like it according to the movie) - still an asshole or not: Fighting for the rights of free porn - he MAY have made a difference about so called morals...and yes, for sure rearadmiral: a push somehow for freedom of speech.

I haven't watched the video but I've seen some stills from it. All my info is really from other people that have seen the videos. Mind you I'm aware of what Porno Dan considers good porn so I didn't need too many people to describe it.
It's basically badly lighted, badly shoot with awful camera angles and Porno dan won't ever win any awards as a good sex performer.

If you want to see the scene and don't want to buy th dvd then take a look at the link because the video is currently available on AEBN. Be advised that the most rabid Tanner fan is likely to be very disapointed in this video.

Actually she already has done 2 anals scenes. I know one has been released and if the other hasn't yet then it should be soon. That was the good news. The bad news is that the majority of people that have seen them say that they are both unwatchable. I don't know if you are aware of Porno dan but she did both scenes with him and his style of shooting porn is awful.

Ditto rearadmiral. It's a very important element of what makes PU/TBP so unique. To me it's essential but to say "I love it?" That's a bit much. But I chose love it anyway.

While I couldn't agree with you more on the insanity of organized religion in American politics and culture in general, I don't think that this is the problem most porn stars struggle with. I'm betting that the majority of those who get into porn, whether they become stars or not, have gotten over any religious conflict that they might have had with the job, though a few still seem to leave and "find" their religious awakening (more of a hypnosis if you ask me), which I still think does more harm than porn.
But what I think gets most true stars is burnout--getting numb to the work and the industry, and finding it just an unfulfilling day job that doesn't exactly meld well with some roles in life. I mean, how exactly do you raise a kid past a certain age while working full time as a porn star or maintain a decent marriage? Add the harsh standards of what passes for "old" and suddenly an exit strategy makes sense (that and a reasonable idea of how to actually save your earnings).
