Very difficult to say.
You are going to get a full range of intellectual ability surfing the net.

Strange question but I dare say at least 40% as people who actively write in the net tend to be somewhat smarter than the average, believe it or not. Here we also see mostly constructive comments which raises the bar even more.

I agree with RustyJ - an odd question but overall based on the reviews I read on here, I'd say the majority of PU users are of above-average intelligence.
Except for me - I'm dumb as a bucket of rocks!

I really couldn't answer, me myself, I'm fairly thick to be honest, but some other people who like porn are of super intelligence though, porn appeals to too many people to pigeon hole their intellect.

Wow, Graymane, what a question. And a dicey one too since to expound too much is going to slide you either up or down on the scale.

That one is tough because it doesn't identify if what is written is of quality or if it's just guys trolling the net with their hate filled rethoric.
You don't see the crap on this forum that I see on other forums because we normally leave insults, hatred and negativity out of our discourses. Just vist ADT and take a look at what some posters say to the performers or about the other posters. not pretty at all.

I never see flaming going on, thus i must conclude that PU has the single most intelligent collection of users on the internet.
We don't even bash on the couple guys here who freely admit to liking and reviewing gay porn. Try that in any other mainly heterosexual forum!
I feel like here I can talk about myself and be honest without worry of the extreme backlash I would get in other places. I know I do not contribute 1% as much as I used to here but the respect of the users keeps me coming back.
Respect and the ability to allow someone to disagree is a direct measure of intelligence. That is what makes this entire site whole.

While I know you patrol other forums Pat (as do I), I think Graymane used the "we" to indicate this forum rather than some other ones. Of course, this is best addressed by Graymane as to his intent, rather than me projecting, but I'll bet a plugged nickel I'm right.
Which is why I thought it was a dicey question since he was asking us to ascertain what we thought about ourselves and our own level of intellectualism on this forum. That is why the replies could either slide you up or down that scale.

To make a comparison, I'd have to be familiar with enough forums to make a fair judgment. And perhaps that's saying enough to address the question.

I think most people like Eisenstein, Jeffrey Dahmer, Charles Darwin, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart ,Stephen Hawking. Are all very brilliant and often were all irreverent in their thoughts. However they are miles ahead of society, even though society may look a wild eye at them they stand by their views. Its not that they are wrong or right, that is never for them to say. But they do make others ask it may be wrong or maybe right but they all challenged everyone to ask ... Why ?
Brilliant Minds ask why, it not enough for them to know the answer they want to know why there is any answers right or wrong !

Intelligent people like to question and analyse what they see / are told in a mature manor which from reading the views of others and the lack of childish name-calling on this site leads me to believe we are at least above average.

REPLY TO #9 - jberryl69 :
Thanks, Jberry, for better clearifing this poll question. You've put it in the very context it belongs.
Having read, so far, how most respondents were wrestling with precisely what the question was really saying, I find, after closer reviewing it, I simply have to join them.
Let me expand on that by saying this: At my age, I've been around the block enough times to where the wear-an-tear has me thinkin' I ought to know just about everthing. I don't, of course, and that's magnified in every sense of the word. A "babe in the woods" might comparatively describe my intellectual station.
But I do recognize intellegence in others, and I know it when I see it in action. And drawing from that, I have to say that very few open entities of communication have impressed me more than what I've observed right here on this site. Books written by the best authors of our day are neatly stacked in my wall-to-wall bookcase, collecting cobwebs as I'm pouring over what Porn User members are saying.
That might appear somewhat of a stretch, but for me, it is what it is. The guys hammering out dialogue on this forum entertains, enlightens, and oftentimes are a sizable more stimulating than much of what's printed between the pages of my newspaper and the likes of magazines I thumb through waiting to see a doctor or get a haircut.
So Lets just settle on what jberry has so astutely awaken me on, or, as most have already done, and that being simply interppert the question to their liking and act on it accordingly.

Based on what many people have posted in the forum than I'd classify the bulk of us in the upper echelon of intellectuals. Some people might not think that they are but the language they use and the arguments they put forth are very impressive.

I agree Pat - there are some pretty thoughtful people in this forum, which one could assume, makes us a little more intelligent - but just so our heads don't get too filled, I'll just say for the record I've done some pretty damn dumb things in my life.

All over the place. Just because you like porn doesn't mean anything more than the fact that you like porn.

REPLY TO #18 - jberryl69 :
See my definition of a dumb person or stupid person isn't someone who does one of these things on a rare occasion but someone who knowingly does them once or worse on a regular basis.
I've done a couple of really stupid things in my life but it was only made obvious how stupid they were after the fact and I never did the same thing twice. I learned from my mistake. A good example of a stupid person is someone who watches Jackass and then performs one of the stunt at home. The person on screen is at best an idiot but at least he's getting paid to be an idiot but the person at home doing the stunt is just stupid. A trial recently ended with a guilty verdict for a 17 years old girl because she was driving the car that two of her friends did car surfing on. One of her friends fell off the car and died of her injuries.

I agree with pat and badandy, although I am not sure sure that kindness and politeness are directly related to inteligence (although in a just world they most certainly would be).
