Some of the sample photos on Pier look well done, like the ones of Nella. Of course she is super hot anyways, but you can still see lots of freckles, some tiny pockmarks on her cheeks, even a weird stray vein in her right eye (they really should have Photoshopped that though). Others, not so great, such as the sample of Eve Angel; perfectly flawless skin tone, even hues. It looks almost like computer generated art, which it pretty much is at this point... The secret (beyond Adobe software) is good makeup, and lots of it, proper lighting, as well as interesting outfits and sets. "It's incredibly obvious, isn't it? I used to think that Wal-mart was a cheapie store, even though I had never been in one. But since the 1990s, 3 large Wal-mart stores have moved into my local area, and I find that the prices at Wal-mart are often lower than what you pay at other stores like Target or supermarkets. So I am now a Wal-mart customer, and I don't feel that I am lower-class because of it.

However, I do agree that the customers at Best-buy and Target are, in general, wealthier than the average customer at Wal-mart. They also dress better.

OK, I think I understand where you're coming from. It just sounded a little snobbish that you reject Wal-mart as a source of future porn stars.

I live a lot closer to the SF Valley than PinkPanther, but I haven't really looked around the area to see how many porn stars I could find. I probably wouldn't recognize them anyway, even if they knocked me over. I met Justine Jolie at a Glamourcon convention (sponsored by Playboy) one year, spoke with her briefly, and I kept looking at her, because she seemed familiar from somewhere. It was only later, after I went home, that I realized who she was. I wasn't drunk, but my brain sure wasn't working at top speed that day.

Uh oh, I should have known I would unleash the wrath of the Walmart. :)

I was trying to be a little humorous with the Target remark, but I guess I fucked that one up. But let me be clear: I do not think anyone is a better class than anyone else, especially not based on wherever the hell one chooses to shop. Trust me, where I am from there is more than enough consumerist classism to go around and I have dealt with plenty of assholes who view the world through the prism of what stores people shop at. The big box stores are pretty open-minded; they serve whoever and whenever. Don't expect that treatment at higher-end 'exclusive' retailers who care just as much about who they sell to as anything else, if not more so.

So no, again, I was not saying one store's customers were a "better class" than another store's, but that doesn't mean I want to see them in porn either. Target does seem to attract more younger customers (at least female ones) than Walmart (and at least in the ones I go to), which is a big plus in my perverted book, but do people really look that attractive when they're shopping anyway? (Uh oh, new niche being thought up...)

Also, lk2fireone, isn't "often lower than what you pay at other stores" the same as "cheapie"? That's not necessarily a bad thing, and it is why I shop there (plus the generally better selection) but I was just wondering. "It's incredibly obvious, isn't it? Personally I wouldn't classify a stolen sex tape as porn, since I presume it wasn't met for an audience beyond her and Tommy (okay, and the rest of Mötley Crüe), and it didn't really hurt her career either. Same thing with Paris' night vision sex video--not really porn, but I guess they ended up that way. "It's incredibly obvious, isn't it? Lol, thanks!

Where I'm from--far from the SF Valley--most of the shoppers at Walmart (though usually not Best Buy) are the last people I would ever want to see in porn. Sorry, but that's just my personal taste. Now, if I ran into people who looked like they were in porn then I might adjust my thinking.

I guess by a certain stretch of the imagination you could classify Pamela Anderson as a professional "actress" but she hasn't exactly done porn, just lots of jiggle-oriented crappy television. Paris Hilton is...Paris Hilton. Besides being an heiress and a professional partygoer, what career did she have to begin with? I have way more respect for pretty much any porn model compared to what Paris is/'does' as most girls in porn have at least earned their own money, and were not simply born with it. Does Paris know the consequences of her actions?

As far as girls who just get into porn for one or two videos or sites, who's to say if there really is a stigma attached. Maybe from mainstream Hollywood, but much of the U.S. is becoming open-minded about such things and is probably more concerned about their drunken party pics on Facebook than a possible appearance in a porn video.

It's definitely got to make for some awkward interviews; what is the employer doing looking up porn, and what is the applicant doing in it? I would definitely ask to see a portfolio! ;) "It's incredibly obvious, isn't it? A foreign substance is introduced into our precious bodily fluids without the knowledge of the individual. Damn, I'm so angry now. GRRRRRRRRRRR!

At least these companies piss off enough people that they sometimes go under, and they probably have no fucking idea as to why. And so they go through bankruptcy and get acquired by ANOTHER company that does the same shit.

Down dog! Down! Good dog! :)

I'm afraid RB's a little late on the capitalism thing; it has been doing as many shitty things as it has good for a long time. Ever heard of slavery? Sure, it was a moral disgrace, but that didn't stop people from continuing it well into the 19th century here in the U.S. Hey, there was money to be made!

Pollution, low wages and little to no benefits for workers, shitty products and services, the list goes on...it's all for profit's sake. But we generally accept it, and even make sure it continues. A lot of us at PU bitch and moan about Microsoft (for good reason), but it's still an enormous, very profitable company that dominates the home market in OS software--and I doubt it's going anywhere anytime soon.

My personal bitch is when we actually reward companies for their screw ups, like the recent auto bailouts. GM fucked up so badly they should have gone under, but instead the U.S. government stepped in and put them on life support, and we'll be paying for it. Hopefully we won't bail out the shitty porn companies (only the good ones, dammit!) anytime soon.

What was this thread about again? Oh yeah, support problems. I pretty much avoid customer service at all cost. It seems like the only time you talk to human beings (who all seem oath-bound to not reveal their names) are when someone asks you if you can continue to hold. Grrr, indeed.

My best advice is to try and Google your issue; forums and experts (not customer support employee dimwits) usually hold much more valuable information than any company is willing to divulge. Absolutely not!

What exactly is the point of PPV if you enjoy actually keeping something? I guess there's a market for those in relationships where porn is a no-no and they don't want to leave too much evidence behind (besides a growing paper towel budget...), but if I like what I see than I want to keep it, not give it back, or let it expire, or however the hell it works.

Hilarious awards! Will keep me laughing for the rest of the year (okay, it's only 2 weeks, but still).

Also, thanks for quoting me; I feel honored and humbled and whatever the hell else you should feel. I still say it's been a decent year here at PU: sure, maybe not enough of us got laid, but no one got laid off either (I mean from their 'jobs' downloading and reviewing porn), though a few did have their accounts disabled, which has still got to be better than having an account disabled at your bank.

Maybe we should start a best of/worst of PU list (not awards) for 2009 since there are more and more of those damn things every year, and now they have them for the decade too.

Man, I should have known starting this thread would have opened up a whole can of worms...

But considering how civil the discussion has gone I think it just proves how unique PU is in its members actually being tolerant of others (except Kirk Cameron, who I do believe is a misguided moron -- sorry if it makes me a bigot, it's just my view) and their respective views, not matter how crazy/creepy/disgusting/whatever they may be.

Maybe I should start a separate thread on this, but I am still curious how the religious, or the more religious than the possible majority here at PU, resolve the porn v. faith issue, if it even is one to them.

I know of people who hold pretty lovey-dovey religious points of view, which in turn tolerate such fun activities as premarital sex and, yes, good ol' porn, if never actually openly embracing them. Tolerance and a basic respect for all life in religion is something that is seen all too rarely today, but it's still happens.

There's the other more stereotypical view that sex and the human body are naturally dirty and sinful, thus pretty much ruling out tolerance for viewing even the softest, artiest of sites, much less all the other wonderful things we pack into our hard drives. I personally think this viewpoint is a little overemphasized; that is, it just has one of the louder voices out there, not necessarily the largest or strongest.

Is there some realistic middle ground, or will there always be a great divide? "It's incredibly obvious, isn't it? I never thought Sarkozy would ever right something that would illustrate a point I made. I do think he has an attractive wife though! But seriously he makes a good point that people should be a little more tolerant and not just hop on the fear bandwagon the first chance they get.

I also love how the article says "France has sought to reaffirm its staunchly secular tradition which sees religion as a strictly private affair." That sounds like paradise compared to what we have here in the U.S., where having 'morals and values' translates to 'Are you a good god-fearing American like the rest of us, or are you one of those commie atheist types?'

Seriously, could anyone realistically expect to run for higher office in America -- say for U.S. senate or president -- with a very private, moderate religious background, or even no religion (blasphemy!) at all? I wish it were funny -- at least to us men, as doesn't seem to be a big concern for women -- but there have been reports for the last few years about estrogen (the real kind, like they put in the no-baby pills) and estrogenic chemicals, which are the real scary stuff.

This is the mysterious synthetic compound shit that is put into plastics (including stuff that holds food and water) and all kinds of other products we put either in, on, or even just near our bodies and can have effects similar to estrogen. The problems really arise with pregnant women exposed to these chemicals as it effects their unborn male babies, but I am sure it doesn't make for the purest sperm sample either. I have read that it can contribute to smaller penis size (which some believe the fate of the human race pretty much hinges on) as well as 'feminized' male genitals in newborns. I am not really sure what the latter means, but it would probably make for a whole new set of locker room anxieties. :(

I am sure women get a good laugh out of all this, but after they are done cackling it up they may want ask why our environment is so shitty. All these chemicals probably effect them too -- like the whole breast cancer problem -- and a bunch of pink ribbons aren't going to make it go away.

I'm used to the normal ups and downs that you all describe. Been there, done that; but the last month or so has been markedly different.

You could be getting estrogen from your drinking water. I know, it sounds crazy but a lot of the shit we flush and wash down our drains ends up back in our drinking water even after its been treated. I don't think there is any practical or efficient way to get medications and a lot of chemicals out of water -- including the estrogen in birth control prescriptions -- so you could be getting that, but then that means everyone would probably be suffering.

As far as the "select, sort, and fuss" problem it sounds like you should go and get a degree in archival science or something related to it, though I doubt they are intended for highly organized perversity. I certainly wasn't implying that you should stop -- in fact I would never imply that anyone should stop -- but maybe you should make sure your monitor and your desk are both level, or get a display that can rotate so you don't have to strain your neck.

Swiss Ban Building of Minarets on Mosques

I am sure most of us have heard about this, especially our European members. I know it's off topic, but we have discussed religion here before (a little, but still discussed it) and I was wondering what people's thoughts were.

Regular members are probably aware of my overall distaste for religion, but I have an even bigger distaste for limits on civil rights, like religious freedom -- and I don't just mean freedom from religion for people like me, but freedom for others to worship as well.

Having said that, I usually think of western Europe as a very progressive and liberal part of the world, arguably made up of some of the freest countries on earth. I also understand immigration, particularly from Muslim countries, is a big issue; when I was living in Germany a few years ago there were debates over the growing Turkish population there, but people were still tolerant overall. Even though Switzerland is neutral, given the Europe's history in the last century it seems this would have not passed, but it did, so what's next? "It's incredibly obvious, isn't it? I have heard that strap-ons are pretty much necessary for even the real lesbo scenes (not made for a bunch of straight guys as the audience) since many lesbians do not see penetration as a solely hetero act. That does not mean they are going to start blowing the strap-on or do the whole slobbery upchuck routine so much of the industry has going on in boy-girl hardcore, but use it simply as a sex toy, not some lesbo stand-in for a stunt cock.

I am not a big fan of the dick sticking out the girl's cheek either. I am sure it's fun in real life (at least for the guy, assuming the girl is even willing to agree) but it really does nothing if I am watching. Problem is that if they have taken it that far they usually go further -- the guy starts slapping himself through her cheek, or starts choking the girl. At that point it's not even oral sex, but oral assault. "It's incredibly obvious, isn't it? A foreign substance is introduced into our precious bodily fluids without the knowledge of the individual. That just sounds incredibly sad. I wonder how many women there have been that have had no concept of a female orgasm? I understand that from a purely procreation standpoint there would be no need for a culture to be open about discussion or even just recognition of the female orgasm, but it would seem inevitable unless it was an extremely repressive society such as the Victorian west.

I have never really understood why so many cultures have been this way beyond the obvious offenses of misogyny and our brain-dead fear of sex. I mean really what's the harm? It's not like a woman is going to waste a bunch of tissues or get pregnant just from having an orgasm. In fact I bet a lot of countries could have held off women's suffrage for a few more years with wider distribution of 'anti-hysteria' devices.

Now as far as female ejaculation is concerned...that issue probably won't even be decided in our life times -- much more 'study' is needed. ;) "It's incredibly obvious, isn't it? It's pretty crazy that it took a European PU'er to bring up this topic in the first place, but maybe because you guys didn't create such wonderful things as "Dancing with the Stars" and "The Real Housewives of..." and instead you worry about your fellow citizens being killed or injured in an international conflict.

As far as Bin Laden, he might just die of natural causes or old age like so many of America's most hated enemies. Name some of the most destructive leaders of the 20th Century (at least by U.S. standards) and the majority of them did not die in prison or at the hands of American forces. Still, we could get lucky one day and hit him with a missle, but I'll bet we bomb a school or hospital in the process. "It's incredibly obvious, isn't it? I hate to say it, but I think it's because bad ideas and self-serving interests die hard.

Even today, eight plus years after 9/11, so many of the issues and 'problems' discussed and legislated are comparatively petty and minor. Take the gay marriage issue for example; there are currently more than 100,000 U.S. troops in Iraq and we still want get hot and bothered about same-sex marriage. 'Only' 11,000 jobs were lost last month and the biggest news item is Tiger Woods' sex life.

Stupidity is hard to explain, but if you believe in some cause or goal than doing every idiotic, wasteful, hurtful thing to accomplish it is probably worth it in your mind. Now with the Afghanistan surge there are still assholes around to argue that when Bush did pretty much the same thing he did it better and made everything right in the end. It's complicated.

I'm not one to believe in conspiracies (or much else it seems) but I do think Bush 'n' friends were great opportunists. It's generally understood that his administration wanted to do something about Iraq once he was sworn in, but it would be pretty hard to do it just out of the blue, so when 9/11 occurred there was a lot of talk about making it happen since they had an excuse.

Again, this is not tin foil hat conspiracy, just the typical inner workings of people in power, though we usually don't hear about it until long after. This idea of doing something about Iraq has been around for a while; look up the Project for the New American Century, a think tank started in the '90s that focused on, among other stellar ideas, reshaping the Middle East -- with emphasis on Iraq -- into a more democratic region so as to best serve American interests, particularly future energy and security needs.

They wanted Clinton to do more, a lot more, but of course nothing really happened beyond some missile strikes during his blowjob scandal. They published a report in 2000, "Rebuilding America's Defenses," which was signed by a lot future Bush officials, and then a year later...9/11. When opportunity knocked, the think tank urged W to answer.

Was W responsible for 9/11? I seriously doubt it, but there was a lot of incompetence and ignorance that helped it to get carried out, and then all these Pax Americana douchebags to help mold it into part of a greater conflict so as to serve their interests and beliefs, no matter the costs or consequences. What a mess over there; a corrupt, weak government, whose only plus is not being a radical and violent theocracy (like Taliban-ruled Afghanistan...or our Middle East ally, Saudi Arabia). While we (I am speaking for the U.S.) send in 30,000 more troops to...do what exactly?

This is where I get lost, because the majority of 'those who hate us' and 'those who would do great harm to us' are in Pakistan -- which seems to be dangerously close to imploding politically, with nukes! -- and the number of troops needed to completely stabilize Afghanistan has been estimated to be a prohibitive number, at least in the six figures. I also shudder every time some asshole official mentions drugs, because if there is one war we Americans have been fighting and losing the longest, it's the drug war (maybe the war on sex, but who knows).

Recently there was a bit of news about three DEA agents who had died in a helicopter crash there. Tragic and more wasted lives to be sure, but can anyone answer why the hell there are federal drug agents in Afghanistan in the first place? When did 'those involved in 9/11' turn into 'drugs are bad'? I have been hearing plenty of bullshit about how their poppy plants are fueling terrorism, violence, etc. (just like marijuana!), but if we are really going down that road lets just pull all of our forces out, set up some puppet quasi-anti-narcotics force, and then just throw a few billion at them every year without having to directly kill any more Americans.

I guess I am pretty passionate about this because so few Americans seem to be, plus I spent a year in Iraq in the U.S. Army and I am still trying to figure out what, if anything, we every really accomplished there. At the time I was there (2006) Afghanistan still had a reputation as being just, or at least less pointless than Iraq, if damn near forgotten in comparison. But now...

I agree this isn't Vietnam, but for a whole litany of other reasons; fewer troops, fewer casualties (thus far, though still a lot less), almost immediate involvement in direct fighting, all volunteer forces, conflicts over completely different interests, etc. But I see your point; it could turn into the next Vietnam, with no real goals or focus, perpetual engagement (though Pres. Obama has said 18 months...).

Whatever happened to change, hope, belief, and all that other crap? Wasn't 'change' meant to say not like the previous idiot in chief, who started all these fuck-ups? I am not too hopeful here for a couple of reasons.

First, history sucks: we still have troops in Germany, Japan, Italy, South Korea, and the U.K., with small numbers in dozens of other countries. When the U.S. crashes other countries' parties we are in it for the long term. Seriously, when's the last time no really meant no?

Second, gradual is the way to enlightenment: a lot of our past conflicts started rather suddenly, and this one began pretty much like that -- 9/11 and then a month later an invasion of Afghanistan -- but it's now in the slow-but-steady stage. I'm afraid a lot of people are not overly worried about 9/11 as they were during the early Bush years but the new administration assumes they still are, thus using it as a weak excuse to continue this bullshit ad nauseam.

Here's to being so sure you are 100% right 100% of the time. :( "It's incredibly obvious, isn't it? I think this has been asked before, but are there any sites or companies that make their videos primarily with the oral sex being performed on the female, rather than the retarded blowjob contests that hardcore videos have descended into?

A good blowjob scene is fun to watch every once and a while, but really, if it's not actually being experienced I don't see why they are put in nearly every damn hardcore scene ever put to tape or film. With cunnilingus you get to see the girl's fun parts and she's probably having a lot more enjoyment than when she is trying not to vomit or asphyxiate on the guy's hard-on while he calls her names and grabs her by the hair. I am afraid I would have to pretty much agree with this view. :(

So much of today's hardcore porn is made up of a pretty gal who starts off posing only to have some steroidal maniac come in and take charge: he yanks her by the hair, slaps, chokes, spits, squeezes, strains, and does pretty much anything else that would get you in trouble with a girlfriend or wife -- and probably even if they requested it.

If it's hardcore insertion porn (focusing on big toys where a guy is the inserter) then all bets are off. So many seem to end up with the poor girl in a pile driver position while the dude stands over her forcing too large of an object into too small of a hole as if he was trying to mix concrete. The rare video is where he actually calls her by name or even knows it, rather than insulting her and scowling at her as if was going to kill her (which is where a snuff film would take over). 80 and 45%? Maybe it's just me being a paranoid over reactive American but that sounds pretty high, and hard to believe people don't worry about it more. I can't think of any porn where a woman is holding an unlit cigarette. Sounds like a waste of a prop, sort of like when a dildo is introduced you expect it to be used, so if a cigarette is shown you expect it to be lit and smoked.

Personally I am not a big fan of women who smoke for a couple of reasons. One, for all of their supposed allure or coolness, in real life cigarette smoke just fucking stinks, and what that does to the otherwise neutral or pleasnt smell of someone's clothes, hair, breath, etc. is something fierce.

Second, and this is really more for porn because I can get picky about voices, is what it so often does to the sweet siren song of a beautiful young woman. To hear the deepened hoarse croak of a voice ravaged by habitual smoking is a real letdown to me to say the least. I often find myself wishing certain actresses had kept mute because their tobacco-lowered voice is just unpleasant.

The whole unlit cigarette thing sounds like it might be a good idea. I figure they are already risking cancer from all the chemicals in the sex toys, makeup, hair products, etc., not to mention the risk of STDs, and of course the danger of pulled muscles and fractures from all that acrobatic freaky fucking. ;) "It's incredibly obvious, isn't it? Unless it actually says in writing that you are signing up for two months you should only have to pay for one month at a time -- hence the word "monthly" on their sign-up page. Otherwise they are trying to screw you!

The reason so many sites offer a slightly lower monthly price with auto rebilling is that they are taking advantage of customers' forgetfulness, hoping we are sloppy with our subscriptions and don't cancel until it is too late. I have missed a few rebills this way, and used the extra month to load up my collections. (C'mon, admit it: we've all done it.)

Normally they allow you sign up with the automatic billing option and cancel pretty much anytime, or at least up until two or three days prior to when it should rebill, and you only pay for that first month. Off the top of my head I can't think of a site that would offer monthly sign-up options but still charge for two months at a time. I would call that lying! "It's incredibly obvious, isn't it? Monty2222, I hope you are using the term "self-cleaning" lightly as I am sure we are all aware of those who could benefit from improved methods of hygiene. Granted people do know how to clean up pretty well -- good lord, just watch a Max Hardcore video to see where some have to start from -- but others, eh, not so much. I'll even bet that some of us have had an actual girlfriend/wife/significant other that wished we could upgrade our self-cleaning methods.

And speaking of partners, I am sure some of us also know of a past (current?) significant other that would probably hide us if they could. Whether that's before or after they have stumbled upon our vast porn stash is another question. :) "It's incredibly obvious, isn't it? From looking at the previews for Big Ass Adventure I don't think any of their girls are particularly fat, or even pigs in need of a diet, but then again it's a very subjective term. It could just be using a lot of wide angle lens (literally false-ass advertising?) or the girls really are just gluteally gifted.

The girls who I would start to call 'fat' would be those who really had too much Burger King and sport the Burger King gut, which I don't think is a niche...yet (I don't really want to know if it is either). Still, there are plenty of porn girls who I think could stand to lose a few pounds but can still put on a hell of a great show regardless of their waist or ass line, so what's the harm? Some girls just don't last very long in the business. :(

Some decide it is just not for them, others quickly grow to hate it, and a lot probably have trouble getting good work, or at least getting popular. IAFD only has six credits listed for her, all from 2002, so she didn't last long at all.

(BTW: Denner started "Farewell young maidens" a couple of weeks ago to talk about favorite stars who are no longer in the business.) "It's incredibly obvious, isn't it? By today's skinny-ass 'standards' -- at least those found in the U.S. -- I bet Marilyn Monroe would be deemed fat, though in her lifetime she was just normal and thin. She is what I would now call healthy as a lot of the women in today's skin-and-bones standard of body type look anything but healthy.

Go back a little farther in history, particularly the west in the 19th century, and you see the popularity of what was probably even more unhealthy: the hourglass figure. Now of course the only way to see women wearing a corset that tight is to search for it in the fetish niche. "It's incredibly obvious, isn't it? I missed this term reading the first time, but it's pretty funny too. I just hope they don't demonize and outlaw porn to the extent that they have done with cigarettes in the U.S. The porn industry really has no lobby, especially when compared to the tobacco industry.

Next thing we know there are going to be surgeon general warnings on DVDs and home pages. Something like "WARNING: Porn viewing causes blindness, forearm fatigue, hard drive failure, and may complicate marriage." "It's incredibly obvious, isn't it? I am just picturing your old avatar and what she must have been facing when you spoke to her. The horror! :) "It's incredibly obvious, isn't it? If you take her offer, Capn, I am pretty sure you won't be able to do a review. It sounds like only a trial, and free offers are generally not allowed here anyway. "It's incredibly obvious, isn't it? I read a funny article this morning in the Washington Post, "Publicly, a whole new lewdness," about the increasing prevalence of porn viewing going on in public areas. I mean as public as public transportation, airports, airplanes, sporting events (take me out to that ballgame!), and just about anywhere you can fire up your laptop or iPod and offend the strangers around you (mostly women it seems).

Now I am all for more porn all the time, but this does seem a little much. For starters, all these people around you did not pay for the content in question and are essentially being entertained for free. That's ridiculous! Okay, so the article was more about etiquette in public spaces, or at least how "gross" all the "yuckiness" is to prudish women, but it still seems taking it one step too far.

One hilarious quote that has kept me laughing all day was from a airline stewardess: "I have never had anyone say, 'I refuse to stop. I must watch this dirty movie.' " Classic quote! In fact I think I am making it my new sig, I find it so funny.

(Note: this article was in the Style section of the paper, which means it is not much better than a cross between a tabloid and a blog. The article is pretty lighthearted and funny though.) As far as males are concerned, I would say any and every male who has access to the Internet watches/downloads/whatever porn on it. Otherwise, like james4096 said, the are just lying about it! Come on, lets be honest; all guys are amazed by new computers and software, but give us a few minutes and we start to wonder how we can download porn on it. :)

As far as women are concerned...I couldn't even begin to guess. It's like asking how many women have real orgasms every time they have sex. I would bet it is higher than most of us think as the statistical error would probably be huge. "It's incredibly obvious, isn't it? Hmm, I sure hope sites like that are -- I mean aren't! Aren't! How long before we have some NyQuil niche? Or are we there already? (Rhetorical question, and I'm sorry I even asked.)
